It was, the ball was knocked out before he “threw” it.
I'd call it a voluntary fumble...Chubba's achilles heel.....trying too hard.

6'2-260...our D line can't get a hand on him.
-
Seeing that replay...it's the right call.

That's a shovel pass.
Edit: That's Chubba's version of a shovel pass.

The draw play fails again. Everybody is covered. Oh wow, somebody was open.

Purdy hasn't had anything to work with. Does Satterfield have a plan to get somebody open? Doesn't seem like it.

Someone needs to tell our receivers that they're trying to get open, not cover the DBs.
Exactly...they flat suck.

I see the 60 year old made men are refereeing today. This will be a rigged game.

Our DBs don't cover anybody.

This is a big time win! Duquesne is a good team.

I see it as mostly a time problem. These are student athletes who have a limited amount of time to get together. We've had a ton of injuries that have forced us to play freshman and guys who wouldn't normally see as much playing time. The offense understandably lacks coordination from all the changes and it shows. I think some of the false starts were due to the linemen not being used to Chubba, who seemed to be fooling his own guys with the cadence or something. Coach Osborne had a saying about how many losses to expect when playing freshmen...I don't remember what it was, but it wasn't good....you can look it up.
Did you see that option play to start overtime? Was that the saddest option you ever saw? You guys whining about run run run, is that what you want? How about those draw plays up the middle, the pros used to do that to slow the pass rush. That's what they call running now. Add to this that we don't have a lot of game changers on the field. Our players are pretty good but our opponent's are too. There's a lot of athleticism everywhere these days. You can talk about this play or that but it seems pretty obvious that we lost the game because we only scored 3 points in 3 quarters and our defense couldn't stop a QB from running or cover a receiver to save their life.

Does NU have a chance in the B1G West?

I feel Johnson could do better if given more snaps. Maybe it’s just coaches today in general but it seems we don’t believe in running backs getting into a groove and rotate every 2 plays.
You could be right. Our running game doesn't give our guys much of a chance. They start from way back and fight to get back to the line most of the time. I don't think these modern coaches know anything about running.
-
On offense we have rookie receivers who are hesitant to go after the ball. I'm glad they're not rebounding on the basketball team because they'd never get one. The RB's are just average, rarely break anything. The line is improved over last season, but that's not saying much. It seems like Purdy's snap count is causing the line to jump...maybe he could quit fooling his own players?
-
Our lousy secondary lost the game. They can't seem to cover anybody at any time. The D line was also pathetic, letting that QB run all over the place. On O we just don't have much talent...no game changers.

When a guy is stopped, the old grey men need to blow the whistle.
-
We don't have a bunch of play makers on this team. Beletnikoff and Largent would get the ball...just throw it their way. Didn't need to be wide open and perfect pass...just throw it their way.
-
Let's give Wisconsin credit...for some reason they're playing good today. Their QB is beating us in every aspect. Chubba checked out in the second quarter.

Just now, Moiraine said:
He thought he could get the first down running that direction.
He could've got it but he ran out of bounds.
-
Why did Chubba run out?
-
Our D is highly over-rated

-
Our pass defense is lame.
-
Seems like Purdy or the center aren't getting the snap right. They're confusing the linemen.

If he's available, I'd play Haarberg.
