Are you saying the Government should go to a 4 day work week?  Fine...if they think that will work for them.

Or...are you saying the government should force everyone to go to a 4 day work week?  Which, I would say...no.  Right now, any company that wants to go to a 4 day work week, they can.  Go for it.  Hope it works for them.  Others, it might not.  If the 4 day work week companies start getting all the good employees, then that forces the others to figure it out.  But...the government shouldn't be forcing it on private companies.

Nor should it force it on private companies.

He at least needs to be told..."you're not a three point shooter.  Stop trying".

Then, he needs to figure out the rest of his game.

The announcers had the right comment during the game. Get in the paint and try to make rebounds, tip outs, and put backs. He has to prove that he can make 3 pointers. If he's wide open on his first two 3 point shots and decides to shoot but goes 0-2, he should be pretty much on the bench the rest of the game. Prove he can make them or he should sit on the bench. Otherwise, he needs to focus on what he should be doing out there.

Agree with you that the reason it’s important to find the origin is to give the world population a better opportunity to prevent a future outbreak of this proportion.

The political aspect is too late to avoid.  It became political when the lab leak was discounted by so many, so early based on politics.  We now know it was based on politics because of all the people coming out now saying they wanted it to be of zoonotic origin to avoid more backlash to people of Asian decent.  I truly understand those people went through some horrible cases of profiling, but it’s not a reason to discount a viable theory of origin.
Many people were silenced and/or mocked for their belief of a leak and if it’s born true, it will be hard for them to not crow about it for a bit.  That doesn’t help anything going forward, but it’s human nature.

I wouldn’t agree with closing down facilities, but would agree to much more oversight of protocols if they are dealing with extremely dangerous pathogens and shown to be out of compliance.
I also think whatever gain of function programs are in place, needs to be flushed out and publicly acknowledged to see what the risk/reward profile is for the populace.

Those "lab leak" folks be some sensitive people. And I for one am sorry they are so sensitive.

That said, i look forward to reading their papers and examining their data on the origin of covid.

This made me laugh. From the top down, Democrats hated Star Wars, did everything they could to discredit and defund it. Are you sure this is the template you want to use??

Things change. I voted for Republicans (like McCain and Romney) at multiple times in my life before Trump. I imagine there are many that used to lean conservative on here.

Hmmmm, Ummm Heidi and Scarlet…..about that DOE assessment you two are rage deeming about, and who's involved in making it.   Seems a bit more than a handful of physicists at the energy labs”

Even at low confidence, however, the Energy Department's analysis carries weight. For its assessment, the department drew on the expertise of a team assembled from the U.S. national laboratory complex, which employs tens of thousands of scientists representing many technical specialties, from physics and data analysis to genomics and molecular biology.

The labs were established as part of the U.S. nuclear weapons program and operate largely in the classified realm. The department's cadre of technical experts includes members of the Energy Department's Z-Division, which since the 1960s has been involved in secretive investigations of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons threats by U.S. adversaries, including China and Russia.

The Energy Department is "a technical organization with tens of thousands of scientists," said a former energy official. "It's more than just physics. It's chemical and biological expertise. And they have a unique opportunity to look at intelligence from the technical aspect."

Just because most of the evidence points a certain way doesn't mean professionals aren't considering an alternative explanation. From what I've seen, the most likely explanation points to the wet market.

  7. Most states are a shade of purple politically. Its not so red or blue. Sure, I live in a state that wins red election cycle after election cycle. But it's typically something like 55-60% red vs 40-45% blue. Talk about disenfranchising a lot of people,  Marge.

Anyway, I voted red state since my state is red even though I don't lean red politically.

    Marge Green is an idiot.

Agree.  That seems like something silly to get bent out of shape over.

Not sure why GSG is all worked up over this. I can say that you and I don't often agree on a lot of things politically but this seems like much to do about nothing. So it's kind of nice that we can both agree on something. I thought Chris Stapleton did great. That was my opinion. If some folks think it's the best they've heard, that's their opinion. I dont know maybe i even agree with them. It had a different tune to it that i liked. I just dont know why some are trying to stoke this into some sort of political or societal argument.
