  1. I love Ann coulter- but she crossed waaaaay over the line this time. Maybe her account was hacked (doubtful). It is ok for the liberaltards to call Bush Hitler and to mock Sarah Palin's daughter, but i thought Ann had a little more creativeness in her use of the English language than those people

It isn't OK for any of them. And, Ann has never been "creative"..

  2. These people make a very good living by being over the top in their comments. Coulter, Hannity, Limbaugh, Olbermann, Matthews, Maddow, Maher, etc. You can't get too caught up in HOW they present their arguments but, make no mistake, often times they have a good point behind their crass and bombastic approach. That being said, calling the President a "retard" is extremely juvenile and contributes nothing to the discourse.

Every single one of them are pathetic and actually a threat to this country due to their misinformation they put out.

  3. I found something funny on the way to work this morning. I was listening to CNN. They were talking about Obama's plans for the next two weeks and that he is putting out a new campaign advertising push that gives more specifics on his economic plan....and I quote..." to counter his critics that claim he doesn't have any specifics."

I had to sit there and laugh. OK.....so the day after your last debate you are going to put out the specifics. That's convenient.

It is frustrating that neither candidate doesn't give specifics and just talks in generalities. But, it's convenient that you only give specifics after all the debates are done so you can't be challenged in the debates about those specifics.

On top of that, one of his major complaints about Romney is that he hasn't given out any specifics on his economic plan. SOOO....now after the debates you are finally giving out YOUR specifics?

    Interesting tactic.

  4. I have had the same thoughts as you in your second paragraph. That is the only logical explanation I have because all reasoning that has been given to us up till this point by people in power makes no sense.

I have always been a proponent of developing absolutely every possible type of power we can. As you pointed out, I believe this is a national security issue. When we are this dependent on other countries, especially the ones in this region, we are not safe. We are extremely vulnerable.

I have actually looked into this for myself. I live on an acreage with a building with a perfect roof facing south for solar panels. I could be completely off the grid. The problem is that when I got a quote for it, it was something like $180,000. Not feasible.

I believe that all forms of power have their place. One that I believe needs to be developed is tidal power. Wind has it's place but I got a really bad taste in my mouth over that when those things are going up all around me be the Ted Kennedys of the world wouldn't allow them off the coast of their beach side homes. They want us to destroy our view for this cause but God Forbid they would have to look at them.

  5. This is one of the main reasons why we must become energy independent. At one time, I remember it being said that we only get about 10% of our oil from this region. Why don't we fight like hell to do what ever it takes to replace that 10%? Why can't we drill in areas like ANWAR to accomplish that?

  6. I find it interesting that nobody in this thread has made comment on the actual article that was posted.

    I'll be honest . . . when I first opened your link I got this far . . .

The figure comes with plenty of caveats.

They didn't really explain them. (I read it all the way through this time.)

Do you believe in equal pay for equal work? How about the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act? Obama signed that . . . should he have? Would Romney?

I honestly don't know what hte "Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act" is. Sorry, I just don't.

However, let me answer the question this way.

I have a mother who was a professional educated person. My sister is educated and works very hard in a mans industry. My wife is a CFO of a major construction company. I have two daughters who will be in the work force some day. When I was in college, I worked in the health care industry where most of my coworkers were women and most of my bosses were women also.

Now that I am a boss I employ many women and some of them are in managerial and professional positions and get paid very well. Sexism in the work place pisses me off and I won't stand for it. I honestly don't understand it when a man looks down on a woman in the work place or thinks they are worth less as an employee.

So, I am all for equal pay for women doing the same job with the same experience. My wife has been on both ends of that. She has worked in places where she was treated as an equal and been in places where she wasn't. It's interesting to me that the places where she was treated as an equal, the company was more successful. I tend to believe that is in part due to their attitude towards their employees.

The same can be said about minorities. I honestly don't understand a boss who does not understand that diversity in his employee base is good.

That said, I will give one example where I think women sometimes fall behind and my wife fully understands it. My wife worked for a while right out of college and was on a good career path. Then, we started having kids and she believed it was more important to be at home for about 8-10 years while the kids were little. Our kids were better off for it and that honestly was the happiest time of my wife's life.

However, she understood that when she reentered the work place, she was not going to be able to just step back in in the same spot for the same pay she was at when she left. She was at least 8 years out of the work place and many people in her position had 8 more years of experience. Obviously, I don't believe that if she was hired to replace someone who had been in that position during those 8 years, (no matter if that was a man or a woman) she couldn't demand that same pay. She was less experienced and less valuable starting off to the company. Now, over time as she got her feet wet again, I believe she deserved raises to get back to that point.

I do find it disingenuous though to criticize Romney for his female employees making less but then poo pooing it when it is pointed out that Obama's office very well may be in the same situation.

Also, I also find it dangerous to take a small sampling like Romney or Obama's offices and just flat out make a claim based on simple statistics. The smaller the sampling, there are lots of issues that can tweak those statistics one way or the other. For instance, when I worked in health care, I was at Bryan Memorial Hospital in the ICU/CCU unit. I had no where close to the education that the women had that worked there. I wasn't in the same position and I didn't have the responsibility they did. So, is it fair to simply look at our pay and claim there was sexism against me because I wasn't making as much as they were?

So, to summarize, it is a very hot topic with me but it is also a very complicated topic that I don't think can just be looked at by simple statistics.

  7. No matter who it is, it is almost impossible for a challenger to look more knowledgeable than a sitting President on foreign affairs.

That said, I agree with many people on CNN last night after the debate. Obama probably won the debate slightly last night. It wasn't a HUGE blow out like the first debate was. But, the bigger question was if it changed people's minds and it very well may not have.

One of their polls after the debate was asking if each candidate appeared to be able to lead the country in foreign affairs. And, it was almost a tie with around 60% of people saying each candidate would be able to do that.

  8. After the season we have had so far, making statements that coaches are great, doing a great job, is simply amazing. Two weeks ago most on the board were ready to fire, or question how good the staff was. That followed this week until the fourth quarter, when the only true leader on the team put them on his back and delivered the game for Bo.

I am not saying Fisher is not a good coach, but I want to see more proof. Our coaching staff is far below what a program like Nebraska should have. If you feel they are doing a great job that is fine. I do not, and have not since we started this expirement. Too young, no knowledge of how to be a coach, no game time experience. I have questioned the hiring of Bo since day one. Personally do not like him, but he has made strides, but as stated before he really was put in a no win situation, and then he compounded it with less than stellar hires that could have helped him learn.

Most on here feel winning the the next 5 games is the most important thing in the world. I want us to win as bad as the next guy, but the rewards for winning the next 5 against less than average BCS opponents is facing a true team, that will dismantle this team like a crazy person with a chain saw. And the reason will be coaching. So beat up the cup cakes, but be ready to take what the rewards are. I will be here either way

Maybe you were one of those calling for coaches to be fired. I wasn't.

  9. I agree some what, but these were top recruits, which in the receiving corps we normally do not get. I give a lot of credit to the players, and will wait to see what he does with the next batch, before I say any are good enough.

    fair enough. makes sense.

OK....so let me get this straight.

If we have a player that isn't getting it done on the field, the coaches suck.

If we have a player doing really good things on the field it is because they are simply good and doing it in spite of the coach.

    Got it.....

  10. Take T-Mart completely out of it and go back to what ever QB you want to. I challenge you to come up with a better crop of receivers from top to bottom than what we have right now. These guys are tough, fast, strong, run good routes, fight for the ball, get yards after the catch, have attitude and swagger....and on top of that, we have some REALLY good blockers in that group.

    I'm loving watching them play.

  11. Of all the coach hires that Bo has done, Fisher was scrutinized more than any other. Fans claimed it was a horrible hire due to him running a golf academy before coming here.

All that said, I believe he has done an absolute fantastic job with our WRs. One of my dreams for Nebraska was to have a really good WR corp with multiple targets that go up and fight to catch balls. We now have that.

    Good job coach Fisher.

    Great hire Bo.

  12. Bo has not lost this team and anyone who thinks he has obviously doesn't remember what that looked like under Callyclown and Cosgrove.

This team is still fighting and playing hard. They make mistakes that costs them in games. But, they don't stop fighting.

  13. Well, Husker fans sat and complained that we played better on the road than at home. That problem is fixed.

I must be a really odd Husker fan. I'm actually happy we won. I thought it was a great come back and it showed that this team has guts and doesn't quit.
