  1. Yes, Milton is a special player. Yet people never bring up his freshman year when in his first start he fumbled the ball 6 times and had 4 turnovers or that he had a measly 5.9  ypa for the year.

Yes. They were excellent in almost all areas last year. It’s problem that needs to get fixed though.

That defense wasn’t bad unless the only games you watched were the USF and CCG.

Play calling hasn’t been bad. I see this all the time but no one actually breaks down the film to prove it.

Of UCF's 16 All Conference players 13 were Seniors and Juniors.

First off what do any of those players have to do with UCF’s 2013 team? They didn’t play. Secondly, I said O’Leary left some good players. BUT, you counted Mike Hughes twice since he was in as a CB and PR but he was a juco Frost recruit. Griffin was a 3rd string safety when Frost got there.

Do you think maybe those juniors/seniors have a huge leg up on guys that have been in a college lifting/nutrition program for 2 years less than them? They had 20 freshman/sophomores, 15 juniors, and 12 seniors on their two deep. That was a young team.

    Here's a problem I'm having.

George O'leary's 2013 UCF team beat Penn State in Happy Valley, also beat #8 Louisville on the road, went undefeated in conference, won 12 games including 2014 Fiesta bowl over #6 Baylor.  I think by anyone's standards we can safely say O'leary took UCF to the top of the college football mountain.

So if we're going to blame MR the next 1-3 years for all SF's losses and failures then shouldn't the same standard apply to SF's successes at UCF?  Shouldn't O'leary get the majority of the credit for SF's wins.

Is it possible maybe he wasn't what we thought he was at UCF and benefited greatly from the culture and players O'leary handed him?  Seems like a humongous double standard to credit him with full success for UCF after only two years while holding him completely blame free for the lack of success here and blaming it all on the last guy.

If the reason were losing so bad is because there are players not "buying in" as SF has made a point suggesting more than once, then why doesn't he give them the boot?  Why are they practicing with the team, playing, traveling, etc....  The coaches job is to get players to buy in, what's he going to do differently to accomplish that since apparently what he's done now hasn't worked?

Any player that was on both that 2013 team and 2017 team would have been a freshman that was redshirting. Yes, Frost got some great players from O’Leary but he only started 6 total seniors and IIRC had 18 of his own recruits in the 2-deep in 2017. He rehauled the the roster not unlike what he’s doing here.

  4. Old Dominion opened up their season with a 42 point loss to Liberty. At 0-3 they beat 13th ranked Virginia Tech with a backup QB by two scores. The parity in CFB is too small to walk into a game expecting an easy win. You half arse your effort you lose. Do it against a good team like Michigan and you get spanked. The sooner the players learn becoming a winner isn’t easy the better.

I haven't had a chance to watch the game again yet but I noticed several of these thing live so I was curious how many times it was really someone other than the OL who was (mainly) at fault for a given play.

Another thing that made the OL look bad (as far as the passing game goes) is that IMO Bunch was holding the ball too long. One of Frost’s big things he wants in a QB is quick decision making. We seemed to be ok faking a run to suck in the LBs. That should lead to some easier throws but Bunch wasn’t seeing them. Maybe it was his indecisiveness or maybe just a lack of reps and timing with the offense.

  7. F/B/F

Offense was pretty inept. Only scored 19 points and turned the ball over 3 times.

Defense was the bright spot for me. IDT we looked quite as energized as we were against Colorado but only giving up 17 points should win you a game and the offense didn’t help us here at all. Losing Barry hurt. I understand by rule it’s a targeting but I just wish they would redo the rule to add in what the offensive player is doing and intent of the defender. Honas missed a tackle on each of their rushing TDs.

Edit- didn’t occur to me you meant both games not just the Troy game

Before the final drive and INT? I just put 18-25 for 177 a TD and an INT in a efficiency calculator and thats the number it gave. The final INT is a factor too but he was playing pretty well before that theoretically.

I mistakenly used the NFL formula but your math is still wrong. It would be 149.87 using the NCAA formula. And yes before the final drive and int.

To clear things up, Bunch is our backup QB and I totally respect him. I created this thread as a satire joke but if people believe that this is bullying (which I have been subject to) and are offended I will immediately delete it. I do not wish ill will upon him or his family so please let me know! Either say it in the thread or PM me and I will immediately delete!

I’m not offended and don’t believe you were trying to bully him, I just think starting a thread like this right after the loss is in poor taste. Especially with the overreactions that come from HB after a loss.

Those are plays like the ones Osborne and Solich used to run where the QB hands off or pitches and the line and rb do the rest. Others have commented on the kinds of plays we should've called to get the ball to our star receivers and open it up. Do you think the running game was what it should've been? I thought we looked like the mid-major underdog running desperate plays. Do we really have to count on Martinez' running that much?

    1. What? No wonder people say Husker fans live in the past.

    2. Obviously not.

    3. Yea. Same as how Osborne depended on Frazier/Frost’s running ability. That’s the point of option.

Except the majority of the game should've been running for first downs with real running plays and not that stupid zone read garbage....lead by Ozigbo.

So we have an inexperienced walk on at QB. Troy decides to load the box and blitz to fluster Bunch. We run a ton of WR screens to get Bunch in a rythem and get a feel for the game. Bunch had real problems keeping his eyes downfield and completing those passes to make the S/LB have to respect the pass so they could just play aggressive all game. We complete those passes and that either changes what Troy has to do on D or they get torched through the air.

    What are real running plays?

Bunch should have had drawn up plays with guys running open from time to time...I'm sure he missed some

I wouldn’t say I have the best eyes but I saw a bunch that he missed. You could say the line wasn’t doing it’s job but Bunch clearly was getting flustered and taking his eyes off of his WRs.
