If this forum is any indication and this article as well, expect no 'honey moon' period for Trump.

Quote: President Obama is rethinking his plans to withdraw from the political arena after he leaves office next year, hinting to friends and supporters that he wants to add his voice to the shellshocked Democratic activists and elected officials who are now angrily vowing to oppose Donald J. Trumps presidency.

White House aides say they expect the president to try to refrain from criticism during the transition because of his belief in the importance of a courteous and dignified transfer of power. But while the president holds out hope that he might influence Mr. Trump, he has made it clear that once out of office he will not remain silent if Mr. Trump goes too far in undoing his legacy.

Im going to be constrained in what I do with all of you until I am again a private citizen, Mr. Obama, who will be living a few miles from the White House next year, told a meeting this past week of Organizing for Action, the group that maintains his political movement. But thats not so far off.

Ok so this is how it goes GHWB, BC, GWB did not 'counter' the president that followed. President Obama gets in office and spends much time blaming the previous admin. Now, he says he may jump into the fray after he leaves

office - I guess to be an activist community organizer/spokesperson/stay in the lime light leader for the Dem party. So much for the smooth transition - that lasted a week. Time will tell, Yes, he can have an opinion but as he told John McCain -

his side lost - get over it and allow the new guy to get his feet wet. Elections have consequences. And I too am anxious where Trump may go with some of his ideas. Let the President, and the Repubs and Dems in Congress battle it out.

Regarding the original post - Again I think Pence responded more presidential than Trump did. No need to lower yourself/the office by getting into a tweet battle wt people like this. I think the Hamilton actors were disrespectful of the office. How would you guys feel if Obama went to a NASCAR event (thinking of an event where spectators, etc might be more conservative) and before the 'start your engine's' announcement, the announcer went on a rant against an Obama policy? :dunno It would be disrespectful of the office. The theater or NASCAR are entertainment events and all have the right to go there for entertainment - even the VP and the Pres. It is not the time or place to make a political statement. Show respect by thanking them for coming and being honored that they honored you that they selected your event for entertainment. Don't rub some political statement into their face. I think it was childish. I think most of us do not like going to a concert and hear the singer start on some political rant. We go because we enjoy their music, we don't need to agree wt their politics.

90% of the crowd would give a standing ovation.

This whole thing is nothing more than proof of the ultra thin skin that Trump has. If he doesn't get control of that, it's going to limit greatly his effectiveness as a leader.

I agree wt the bold. As I stated, Pence handled the situation better than Trump did. Trump has yet to enter into the adult political stage.

He just turned 70. Let's cut the guy some slack. He's still maturing.

You got it. Some people take a bit longer!! I don't see any change in Trump - he is what he is and will remain the same. I'm only hoping the adults will 'channel' him correctly.

Everyone - have a Happy Thanksgiving. I'm away for a while. America is bigger than one election or one man ( I think Obama has said something similar recently in reassuring our foreign friends). So enjoy your turkey & don't start family wars over politics. Go Big Red - beat Iowa. Go Minny, beat Wisc also.

Usually, but this was the biggest one ever. Thankfully, the good guys won.
What a sh**ty kind of post to make in response to this.

People vote based on what they think will be best for the country. It's not good vs. evil. There are good/evil Republicans/Democrats. Certainly not everyone on Trump's team is good nor is everyone on his team evil. Also, people think everyone election is the most important. But we can never know what what have happened if the other candidate won.

Regardless, this was a sh#t response to someone saying Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

    Great post!!!

    Great!

Also, it was rather fitting that I am "thankful" on the "Thanksgiving" post for the good guys winning, no?!

TGH made a great post and then you decided to be a troll

He did. And my response was on point.

Take it to the shed, though. I'll be sure to not join you there.

  4. The thing is - it may not happen right now, but if these news outlets hold their ground there will be plenty of "leaks" and insider information shared, he ultimately turns on everybody but his children, and he can't handle a "lack" of attention. The minute they press says,' ok thanks, but no thanks - we don't do off the records" he'd lose his mind. Best thing that could possibly happen is that ALL news outlets agree - nobody goes for the insider track. Other than Fox I'm sure others would agree the time has come to act like they work for the public, and are not some pawn of the president. Good investigative reporting can make a come back. I've just subscribed to the NYTimes and the Washington Post in an effort to support their focus.

  5. Sounds like you're doing great. Just wanted to say take it easy on the free weights. Learn how to squat and deadlift properly before going to heavy. The other guys have given you pretty good advice. If you're just looking to lose weight right now high rep light weight squats and deads will change you're body. Also you don't have to waste a lot of time on isolation exercises. I don't know how old you are or if you have any injuries but hang cleans are also a great way to lose weight. Do those a couple times a week and you'll see results. And keep doing the cardio you enjoy you'll be in shape before you know it. Good luck!

This is great advice. While moving from machines to free weights seems like the logical progression, it can actually be a shift that is orders of magnitude different when it comes to difficulty.

Doing dumbbell curls isn't going to break the bank, but so many free weight exercises require a degree of balance/balancing the weight if not skill that makes them feel quite different from machine exercises (thankfully, in my opinion at least, sometimes they feel easier!) Try not to mimic the same weight loads with free weights that you have worked up to on machines until you feel as though you are developing the exercise-specific balance and coordination that many exercises require to be performed in a safe manner that also maximizes their respective benefits and utility.

EDIT: And please for the love of everything that is good...use bar clips with all barbell free weight exercises. I have been working out for years and will still get fatigued or lose my balance at times; without clips, the end result would be...bad. These will help you immensely as you work on form and balance and will also get you in a great gym habit.

In fact I'll stick with the football analogy. If our game against Ohio State was like a Presidential election, Nebraska's players wouldn't just head home and get ready for the next game. Ohio State would get to keep all of the Nebraska players and the coaches for the rest of the season. Not only would they get to keep all of the players, they could make Tommy Armstrong their water boy or a cheerleader or their mascot, and every time they were on TV thereafter they could parade the losing team out onto the field, and this would go on for 4-8 years. For those 4-8 years we wouldn't get to watch Nebraska play football.

  7. ^^^^

There are already pictures, reports, etc. of charter buses pulling up and hundreds of protesters jumping out. Obviously, this doesn't represent everyone involved, but, unfortunately, it's definitely happening.

  8. Protesting is an important activity that enables people to engage in a civic manner and express opinions. I am generally all for them (well, at least I'm not "against" them) as long as there is not violence or property destruction.

Unfortunately, protests of this era are oftentimes not led or organized by those who are truly concerned as much as they are bankrolled or led by outside or "larger" forces/entities. We have seen this with much of the protests over the last 1.5 years and also with what has happened at many of the Trump rallies. Entities paid for/organized by groups such as MoveOn or from any of George Soros' "nonprofit" organizations.

That being said, seeing these people get bused into areas, on the payroll (if they're lucky!) of some tax-exempt (laughable) NGO, solely to cause chaos or to create fear in order to accomplish some kind of objective (that is oftentimes unrelated to what the stated topic of the protests are) is really a slap in the face to protesters and organizers of previous generations. Also, so many of the individual protesters are viewed and treated solely as pawns.

..and btw, the "American GOP" as you put it, is nonsense. I have ZERO allegiance to it.

That is abundantly clear. Where does your allegiance lie, then?

To get back to your disingenuous suggestion about California: Clinton is leading there, by something like 20 points. Corner cases aside, this is not a state where she is about to lose the popular vote. Among all states, it's probably one of the most solidly so for Clinton.

What state are you in, these days?

Allegiances? i call them as i see them, as all people should.

And, that's great that your state is apparently so safe. I guess it is convenient to live in a place where you don't have to do any work to get the result that you want. Seriously!

I'd prefer not to tell you where i live. Continually asking is a bit ...weird (but I don't think you are, you're a great Mod).
