Reason I am a Husker fan. It goes deeper than just being born and raised in Nebraska (Omaha). Even deeper than having rabid family that I have that would, sometimes, feel like it was louder in our house than the actual stadium. From the cheers of first downs to touch downs, to the "What the F#$KS" and screams when things didn't go the way they were meant to.
For me, it was growing up hearing about Henry Micheal Tingelhoff, AKA Mick Tingelhoff. I wanted to grow up to be the next Tingelhoff to step on that field, but not as a Center, as a QB or RB. We can all dream right?! Anyway, I always heard of his accolades at Nebraska, followed by his amazing career at Minnesota! I remember having Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners... and all the way up to 2015... it was... "How in the hell is this man not in the NFL HOF yet!?" Sure, there might be some bias there, but on the other hand, he was an incredible player. I guess (I don't remember) I had met him at a family holiday when I was younger. How I wish I would've remembered.
So that is what instilled it... then there was the eye opening players that helped solidify my love and passion. Watching my favorite QB's who I emulated in the back yard. Berringer, Frazzzzzier, and Scott Frost! I was a spoiled child watching all those wins, championships and pure domination on both sides of the ball. While I will always remember those, and have my expectations high... I also know how to realize that those days, are called "those days". Will they ever come back around? Maybe never like it did (60-3 run). But I do believe, with the right coach and money, we can bring a championship back to Nebraska. Until this happens, I will always support Nebraska, but I won't expect anything less than what can do. I will remain a realist and know it won't be anytime soon, but screw it, it's fun to drink the koolaid sometimes and think you have a chance to make a good run at your division and conference!

I believe Ozigbo to be the better back. With what I saw last year, and this first game. Therefore, Ozigbo should be the starter, and get the most carries, followed by Bryant and Newby battling it out for what he doesn't get. We've got 3 doable backs, all bring different styles to the table, so no reason to overwork one guy.

It is really hard to really judge a kid off his first game, because they will make mistakes, get burned, get the coverages/reads wrong. I will take game 3 in more consideration on how he really is. First two with film, he should be decently improved. His athleticism clearly shows though.
Definitely going to be a great player, in my opinion.

Degine Ozigbo, 27 yard run because Newby is overrated.
Woot woot! Not a 27 yard run, but still! haha

Over - at least 2
Over/Under - Receptions by Cethan Carter: 20
Over. 25 on the year
O/U: Williams has 4 DUI's by end of season.

I am glad to see Coach Bray got an extension. I said it since day one, if this program goes in the right direction, this would be the guy I want to take over for Riley. WONDERFUL and talented coach.
Williams, he is great too, and hopefully we will see some more improvement out of our WR's!

I see no reason why we can't win the West. If we don't, I will lose all hope for this program until Eichorst and Riley are gone.
Northwestern, they are Northwestern. No one knows how good they will be, and they find ways to win.
Illinois, not a great team. Should be a win, unlike last season. We will be better.
Indiana is going to be a much different team, without Sudfeld. This could be a win, but also a loss.
Purdue, I don't see being a threat, if this staff can remember what a team's weakness is and stick to it.
Wisconsin losing their DC, is huge, because they were mediocre at best this season, and they lose a lot as well.
Ohio Sate- I am counting this as a loss, and probably will the the largest point deficit in Riley's tenure here, until I see something otherwise.
Minnesota, lets face it, they aren't what they were two years ago.
Maryland- Come on, should be a win.
Iowa- Losses a lot. Overrated this will be a win in Iowa City.
Seriously, I see one loss, two possibly in Conference play. Our opponents could have 2+ losses, with their schedules. Iowa, once again, has the easiest, and could be our biggest threat. I haven't been impressed with anyone in the West last season, outside of Northwestern's Power 5 school wins in the non conference schedule. I see us going into conference play 2-1, ending the season at 9-3. 8-4 at worst. Again, I could be VERY wrong, like I was this last season.

It's probably best for him that it's over.
For many folks this probably sounds cold hearted. I assure you it is not.
I had a brother that hung himself 25 years ago. That man couldn't outrun his demons either. At least now he is at peace. Same with Lawrence, he's finally at peace.
It doesn't sound cold at all. He couldn't get away from his demons, plain and simple. No excuse for what he did, but this man was beyond troubled mentally.
-
This man can finally rest easy demon free. I will always remember him by what he did on the field, and the great man he was to his friends and family, when he was able to live without his demons.
RIP Husker

This is stupid in my opinion. It is those kids against the world! Do you not see the BS that gets posted if they make even ONE mistake?! Moore was RASHED over dropping the winning TD against MSU last year. Should it have been caught? Sure! Should be have been harassed, told to go elsewhere, stop playing football because he sucks? Heck no he shouldn't! This is with every player though, not just one, or a couple. Social Media blasts these kids, our fans blast these kids. They don't play for you, they play for those coaching and supporting them. They play for the University of Nebraska. Fans supporting and being there, is the extra motivation and push these kids want.
It is, "Then against the World" and in my opinion, a mentality that should be instilled. Because its not him saying "Its us against the fans", so stop reading into crap.

There is a lot to read, but there is one guy, that I don't think would pass up the opportunity to be a Head Coach here. One who has recently won 3 straight Championships in the FCS. Yes, I know its the FCS, but they had some quality wins against FBS, and I don't think the gap is far between FBS and FCS. Anyway, I am sure most would already know who I am speaking of, Craig Bohl. At this point, I don't want anyone who has never coached a day in his life, as a head coach. I have been a big "no" guy on Scott Frost, for a long time, and still not into it.
At this point, there are two coaches that I do believe would come here if offered. One, Nebraska won't go after, because of having to much "class", and that is Steve Sarkesian. The other is Craig Bohl. I would not mind having either coach here, honestly.

My last name is Tingelhoff. Husker football is an identity to my whole family.

Langsdorf, not sure what the F#$@ he was thinking. Sure, running the ball is the good part, less risk of a turnover. I don't have a problem with the option to run it. My issue, is how we didn't attack the edges, where we had most damage, outside of Jano's 50+ yard run. Hit the edge, misdirection QB keeper... SOMETHING other than JUST up the middle 3 times. I could understand if you spread out wide and spread out the defense.
My positive spin on this game, we lose in a last second field goal, to a team that I thought would have us by two scores. We play WAY to soft when it comes to opponent's final drives.

NUance, I am with you on this. From the rules, and from EVERYONE I have spoken with, once that ball is snapped, and whistles weren't blown BEFOREHAND (which they weren't, the line ref was still in full force throughout the whole play), that play is NOT review-able. Sure, we also had a "timeout" to prepare... but those saying that are forgetting, they had no timeouts, :38 left ON 2nd down, with our defense on their toes, and hungry. That review killed our momentum, gave them a fresh set of downs and 6 more seconds on the clock, which is a LOT when your needing all you can. In my opinion, these events changed the outcome of this game.
As for the "free 5th down"... coaches are suppose to know where the marker is, how many plays and if they have the first down or not. They aren't suppose to rely on the side markers. This was a mistake made by the refs, but moreso on the Illinois staff for not knowing what they were doing, while Riley knew all along... why did our coach know, but they didn't? Are we the next Patriots?! o.0
Anyone have a chance to review that drive where I could've sworn we had the safety? Why no review? I haven't been able to check it out again, but I thought we had the 2pts.

If Riley had turned the job down we may have actually had to do a coaching search.Scary thought, what if HCMR turned the Husker job down? Up to this point he seems like a good fit for this program. I don't even want to image who was left on the board to come in and take over.
Hmmm, that is interesting too
If Riley didn't want the job, we would have reached out to Chryst. If he had backed out, I would imagine that we would have gone after a first time HC, and actually offered Scott Frost, or Kirby Smart.

Kicking the sh#t out of Iowa, so I can go another year without hearing these squakeye fans open their mouths! Lol
Anyway, to win the games we should, be competitive in those we shouldn't and possibly win them too. If not, lose with dignity, not disgrace.

I like the smirk and hidden excitement that Riley had talking about Stevenson.

No Will Shields love?
Sorry bro, family love bias here but yes, love to Shields too of course!! GO BIG RED!!!!

It is such a great day, to have a Husker inducted to the NFL HOF! Henry Michael Tingelhoff, Aka Mick has FINALLY gotten in today! Its been a long 37 year wait! More than deserved!
Today, is a great day to be a Husker. It is even a better day for his family! We've all been complaining and bitching for so many gatherings and holidays, that this had not happened yet haha.
Anyway... Congrats Mick! You have deserved this!

I expect to finish 2nd in the division. Not particularly high expectations, but an improvement over the last couple years, despite losing our best players on each side of the ball.
I expect us to play better as a team so we won't have to rely on freaks like Ameer and Randy to cover up as many deficiencies.
I expect Mike Riley to outcoach Jerry Kill.
THOSE are realistic expectations and not asking for a whole hell of a lot. I am right there along with you Dude. As long as we are competitive in our division, and we don't get blown out, we don't lose to Minnesota or Iowa, I will be satisfied.

5 win program, one year. Bo took a mediocre team, and made it a mediocre team. Only difference, he won the games he should have, and got blown out in the games he shouldn't have.
Then Riley shouldn't have any issues immediately taking a 9 win team above mediocrity.
Exactly. Installing new systems on offense and defense and losing your 3 best players and playing all new teams poses zero challenges that I can see.
Perfectly stated Moraine.
TheSker, taking above? Do you really think this team is enriched with talent like tOSU? I think we have talent, but its nothing superior across the board, like the school you stated earlier. You seem to forget how lazy Bo and most of his staff, with the exception of a few assistants, were on the recruiting road. We have kids that can grow, and become stars, but you have to coach them to that level. I believe we have those coaches, but your not going to see a dramatic change in one year. The scheme change alone, you will see an improvement, but will it equivilate to wins? Probably not, but it we should remain more competitive in games we "shouldn't" win, rather than seeing 70-31, or 408 rushing yards to one player. I will take a 7 win season next year, if we can remain competitive in every game.

Exactly, and I wouldn't think boosters would think twice about "donating" to get Frost the money. The thing with Frost though, he isn't selfish... by that, I mean he is going to make sure his staff is also going to make what he thinks they are worth. NU will be footing out a bill for Frost and his assistants if they want him to come. I mean really, they have it, even without the boosters.
