  1. Honest truth coaches really do NOT care about star ratings. The only only aspect they care about is from a “media perception” but otherwise they do not evaluate or scout kids off of star ratings. It is great say they got “five 4-star recruits” but in the end their evaluation and developmental plan is what matters.

Only a hand select schools does ratings mean anything and that is from a PR battle (Bama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Texas, Michigan, tOSU, etc).

  2. I am also in the firm believer that this transfer portal stuff will be the norm. Not only that but recruiting out of the portal. What will be interesting going forth will the staff be heavily keeping a eye on ex recruits of ours to go after once again if they went into the portal?

  3. I also do see things getting better. The process of trying to learn how to win is not easy as we all know.  I think recruiting is definitely improving and for sure along the lines. Consistency and developing the talent we have is the most important thing.  We just need breaks to start going our way and I think things will takeoff.

  4. Even Bama is sniffing around him now. So he is definitely a national recruit.

In Kansas when it comes to sprinters, he reminds a lot of people of Kenny Wilson (Liberal/Nebraska) when it comes to size/speed freak ratio.  Of course Kenny was 6'2", 220-pounds compared to Kanak's 6'2", 210-pounds.  Wilson's injury at Nebraska is still one of the biggest "that is a shame" situations".  If I remember right he dropped a TV on his foot during move-in.  Never was the same after that but the kid was a utter freak!

  5. What a glorious day!!! I have a good feeling that you’ll see a quality Nebraska team out on the field this fall. There may be other teams more talented but I think this team as a whole is very committed to one another and driven to having the best possible season. Not sure all other teams in our league feel the same.

  6. We won’t be playing in the spring. The chance was during the fall. They are not going to squeeze two football seasons into one year. Urban Meyer yesterday straight up said there will be no FBS football in the spring. He knows better than anyone the realities of the decision. It is why Nebraska and Ohio State are so pissed and want to figure out their options still.

Warren and the B1G pulled the plug on the fall season now to handcuff Nebraska and others who want to play from making a non-conference schedule. Bush league imo.

  7. Hmmmm...

Kind of surprised to see Michigan listed as they always seem to be one school who can be quite leery of the pandemic.  I’m also surprised Wisconsin doesn’t want in on the action but then again Alvarez was not totally positive on a season today.

Will be interesting to see if this comes to life if there is more push comes to shove about no season.

I know everyone is excited about Benhart, but there's a good chance he's not better than Farniok at this point. I expect growing pains. That said the combo of Farniok and Benhart is likely to be better than Wilson and Farniok. If Benhart is better than Farniok as a Freshman than our line is going to be vastly improved. Wilson and Hixson have had their struggles but should at least provide solid depth if they don't start.

That is the key many forget, Hixon and Wilson could be very good quality depth. Something that we have sorely been lacking.

  9. Kansas State could’ve become a decent rivalry. In the late 90’s and early 00’s they started to become the thorn in our sides. They were more of a “Colorado” type rivalry.

Kansas on the other hand just never reached anywhere close to a rivalry. Right or wrong there have been the historical issue of so many Nebraska fans being closet KU basketball fans. KU with football was the great game to fill up their stadium with those who couldn’t get home tickets and casually tailgate/party in Lawrence knowing a victory was coming.

Oklahoma was our rival but we were a rivalry out of great respect to them. Texas IS their hated rival and they also had Oklahoma State. Bedlam has become a much bigger deal to them.

Iowa State, much like Kansas State made more sense to be our natural rival but they were just a bottom feeder.  Nationally KSU/ISU aren’t given as much respect as KU/Iowa from the masses.

In the end Iowa is really the only school that riles me up on multiple levels. A ballgame doesn’t need to happen to make me fell that way.
