Perhaps I overlooked him due to all the Reed hype. Seems like Cotton is our best TE this season as I would have personally rated Reed better last season. How heavily recruited were Long and lil cotton? Those are more or less walk on players. Also 98% of teams would not trade us for our TEs. I have a feeling the top 10 teams minus KSU would not trade aka less than 98%

 

Long was a walk on and Sam would have had other options if his name wasnt Cotton and he didnt have a coach at NU for a dad and two older brothers that were Huskers. He wouldn't have had SEC schools knocking, but Big Ten and Twelve schools.

That's why he never stood out when watching a high school game or how few of stars he received...his brother Ben at the very least was regarded ranking wise very similar to Hart. The two other cotton boys got schollies cuz they are cottons. I hope that I am wrong but only time will tell

Cotton was the TE out of the two that could block on a consistent basis. I have been surprised by his ability to catch and hold onto the ball this season.

I said Hart will develop into a decent TE. That is much different than serviceable. We currently have two decent TEs on our team. Reed can run and catch but can't block= decent and Cotton has actually been a great surprise this season and is a bit better than decent. If Hart equals Cotton I will be very happy.

Seriously, no offense to Micah, but that was a token scolly offer to an instate kid when TO took over. TO was basically the guy who offered him before Bo got here. It was kind of a 'lets start the healing with instate coaches and players' so we could get the walkon program started again.

 

Gerry will play, and if he is smart along with his athletic ability i would be surprised if he doesnt start. See Cassidy and O'hanlon.

Not to start a tissy, but comparing him to two walk on guys, especialy Cassidy, is an insult to Gerry. He is leagues ahead of them athletically, especially Cassidy, along with having more size. I know football is much more than being a good athlete, but I feel people are failing to comprehend that Gerry is the best pure athlete in this class, if not in the entire country.

He is an impressive athlete. I would not however even come close to calling him the best athlete in the entire country though. Goodness

There's some rumors being thrown around that Jimbo Fischer is leary of FSU's current situation in the ACC and may be pushing them to look at the $EC or b12. Also that he is interested in the Tennessee job. Also may be interviewed for the Auburn job.

I could MAYBE see Auburn but why in the world would you leave FSU for Tennessee?

Tennessee is a way better gig than Auburn and it isn't close

and a 2013 matchup between preseason top 10 teams with UCLA! How's that for looking too far ahead!

Look ahead even more. We win that game we could realistically go to the B1G championship 12-0 vs 12-0 tOSU winner playing for the MNC loser most likely in the Rose Bowl.

Alsdo would like to add Trey Foster's name to the list of TE that could contribute next year. He got mentioned after the redshirt scrimmage the other day.

So we should rely on a couple walk ons and two guys that should have been walk ons to man the TE position? Hart will develop into a decent TE. Hopefully a few of the previously mentioned players can become serviceable and hold a block

Problem is we need help right now, also in the future, but now is when we need the help. So a JUCO best fits that role. Next, I like Cotton at TE and I think Hart is better than the kid from Iowa.

IF we get Sandland I am in total agreement of not taking another HS TE. However if we do not we might as well prepare for the future instead of do nothing. Hart as Wisnieski are both better prospects than sutton or cotton in my eyes

What other safety targets are on our radar? I have heard of some dang good CB prospects but not much on the Safety slots. In terms of another TE not named Sandland I think Wisnieski is about as good as we have left on the board. Goebel like you already said would be a nice addition to a depthless OL

I am going to disagree....RSS is full of poo and rose colored glasses. Never get the full picture just the parts that make NU look good. The kid is a solid TE that needs a college weightroom. IMO he and Hart would be a good combo.

I am having less and less faith in the Sandland fiasco. You wanna talk about a hold off on being N look no further.

Also believe Rose was gonna play CB. That is just memory though and it may be off.

This team only beat UNO by what? Double what we did? I know that is a terrible way to compare teams as UNO's guards seemed to have better than average games. I think Miles can get the boys to win tonight.

Anyone else actually notice Miles coaching and teaching during games? Nurse Sadler never figured that out.

I hope we are able to locate a JUCO safety that is worth a darn too. I would personally take all the JUCO DL we are in on. Johnson, Bradley and Hooks are all guys that can turn our mediocre DL into a force. With Johnson having a bum knee it would also allow us to RS him get him ready and then unleash him. You add those three to Gregory and you have one heck of a DL not including any of the guys we have on the roster currently. We do have a few solid Freshman on the DL but we definitely need to add some beef.
