  1. At this point I'm totally ashamed of husker fans. We are suppose to be the best fans in college football. Looks more like the best fans as long as our team is winning. Good luck to Georgia. I'm sure the huskers will be ready to play. Should be an interesting game

Oh, relax. We're just poking fun at the whole situation right now.

Just because we're not having high hopes doesn't mean we aren't Husker fans.

  2. I would like to congratulate Georgia on a tremendous victory vs Nebraska. That 84 to 7 a**whooping set a new NCAA record for full and complete victories. I didnt think 900 yards was possible but even your 3rd stringers made or d-line look like little girls.

Now, now, 84-7? Come on. That's insane.

    It'll be at least 120 - -14

  3. I can appreciate the vernacular of threads like this......but seriously....enough.

Yes, it is a game. Just a game. All of us, even the most boring, benign members of this board, have much more consequential things happening in our lives and in the lives of those around us. There are posters on this board, and many others on many different team-affiliated sites, that are over-reactionary and venomous in their responses after a game like this.

However, the same things we do when we are upset with this team, are just as ridiculous as what we do when we are enamored with them. There are wars, poverty, starvation, depressions, etc happening in many corners of the world, and yet we organize parties, scream and cheer for twenty-something kids who don't even know who they are in this world....and why? Because they wear our colors and throw, catch, and run with a ball. The same ugly vitriol that shows up after a game like this is born out of the very same rabidness that allows for this program to have with it one of the most loyal and dedicated fanbases in the nation.

Yes, it is a game. And those of us that are worth talking to are well aware of that. We don't live our lives in this forum. We come here to be fans, if only for a few minutes a couple times a month. It doesn't define all of who we are.

If you are breaking inanimate (hopefully) objects in a fit of rage because of the game, I would advise you to get off this board and seek some sort of treatment that will allow you to manage your anger. And as long as we're creating a multitude of threads to remind ourselves of just how insignificant a game is, let's sticky one of them, and promise to post in it after every game....win or lose.

Actually, sports fanaticism is quite mentally healthy.

It's simply a confirmation of the idea of group identity. You identify with a group, you become attached to them, ergo, you participate, mentally, in those games. You experience the same highs and lows they do because you feel like you are one of them.

Anger over losses is the way in which we get excited for future victories. We condition ourselves to the losses, expect them, so that when the win happens, we are happy not just for the victory, but for the surprise of it.

  4. "Through These Gates Pass the Greatest Fans in College Football" Good thing that got covered up in the expansion.

It hasn't been covered up. It's still there, visible to all.

My bad but, after being on here today we should just cover that up with a tarp or something.

While my words may be harsh, I am still a passionate Husker fan who is with them the whole way.

  5. OK, I know Wiscy whipped us last night, but support your f'ing team.

I'm rooting for Nebraska. I would like to see them beat Georgia.

But I also must be realistic.

I agree with Malth, I get that some of you are playing the "realist" card, but there's a difference between being a realist and bad-mouthing the team. I, for one, think we have a better chance than a lot of people on here seem to think. I'm a realist, but I'm also a fan. GBR!!!! I will be rooting for you guys NO MATTER WHAT!!!! I know that there will be some people that will reply to me and say that they are fans too, but they are just being realistic because of what happened last night and I accept that. Some of those people will also be the first people to say "I told you so" if we take down Georgia.

It's not impossible that we beat Georgia. I just see it as highly unlikely.

Their offense is too stacked. They will pass and run all over us. Our offense will do a decent job, but, unless the defense undergoes some sort of renaissance, I can't see us beating Georgia.

  6. down by 2 3 and 4 TDs because of passing 3 and outs

    Try again.

Down by 2, 3, and 4 touchdowns because of a complete inability by our offensive line to execute our shotgun zone read offense that we've married ourselves to. When a blitz breaks through our line, it doesn't matter whether Taylor makes the right read or not...it's a guaranteed 4-6 yard loss. Then it's 2nd & 15. Series and drive over. Rinse. Repeat.

Oregon can run this offense, because their offensive line is incredible. Ours is not. We cannot seem to unlock the great talent potential of our offense in this scheme. It just isn't happening.

The defense letting the other team score in 5 plays or less over and over and over again had a hell of a lot more to do with it than anything the offense was, or was not, doing.

Offense put up 31 points last night. In my mind, they mostly did their job.

  7. Georgia is way overrated. Not saying they aren't a good team, and they should definitely be a large favorite against us, but they are not a great team. There is not a great team in CFB this year. If the Huskers play well and Georgia doesn't play quite as good as they really are, the 'skers will have a chance.

We could also lose by 5 TDs again. But I don't think it's a given.

    They almost beat flipping Alabama.

So? They didn't. They're now 1-2 against top 30 teams in the Sagarin rankings. We're 2-3.

    Their SOS? 41. Ours? 32.

Our best wins? Wisconsin (21 in the Sagarin rankings) (granted we got destroyed by the same team last night), Northwestern (32), Michigan State (41), Penn State (35), and Michigan (19). While everyone here loves to talk about how bad the BIG is (and I won't completely disagree), but it is overtalked about. The BIG is not a terrible conference. Very average, but Nebraska has won a lot of games. 10, to be exact.

Georgia's best wins? Florida (4, though this was one of the sloppiest football games I have ever seen), and then Vanderbilt (31). Missouri (43). Those are their only wins against the top 50.

    Georgia/Nebraska stats stats:

    Total Offense: 458.3/462.2

    Total Defense: 351.3/343.1

    Points Scored: 37.2/35.1

    Points Allowed: 18.8/26.2

The stats remain pretty even all across the board.. and remember, our SOS is better. The SEC is better than the BIG (obviously) but Georgia got an incredibly lucky draw (No A&M, LSU, Miss. St.). And the bottom half of the SEC is very bad (Auburn, Kentucky?)

And they don't much pass the eye test, if you've seen them play. Bama ran all over them (around 400 yards, I believe). They have a good pash rush, but if we commit to the run (which isn't a guarantee with Beck...) we have a good chance to put up some points.

Nebraska played horrible last night. Horrible. Stafford himself missed 4 tackles that led directly to touchdowns. Compton missed 1 or 2. Smith 1 or 2. Our Dline got pushed all around, but some of it had to do with the game snowballing.

Again, Georgia could very well win by 5 TDs. But I do not think it is a guarantee like everyone on this board seems to think. Georgia is a good team. But we are, too. Not as good as them, and a tad more inconsistent, but we are solid (compared to the other teams in 2012 CFB).

I just can't hold out any real hope right now...is it possible we could win? Sure...but I see that as like a 1%, maybe 2% chance.

  8. We should use TO as a base comparison, because what he and Devaney did is what Nebraska football is supposed to be.

It's supposed to be conference and national championships. It's supposed to be 11, 12 win seasons. It's supposed to be wins over top 25, top 15, top 10, top 5 teams. It's supposed to be blowing out lesser opponents by 30, 40, 50 points.

Nebraska football is supposed to be championship football. Not "runner-up football" or bowl losses. Not 9 and 10 win seasons with blowout losses. Not embarassments on national television.

  9. Georgia is way overrated. Not saying they aren't a good team, and they should definitely be a large favorite against us, but they are not a great team. There is not a great team in CFB this year. If the Huskers play well and Georgia doesn't play quite as good as they really are, the 'skers will have a chance.

    They almost beat flipping Alabama.

So they played good in one game. LSU and A&M also almost beat Alabama, with A&M accomplishing it. We got beat by 39 points by Wisconsin - does that mean they're a top 5 football team and we're some FCS-caliber scrubs? No. Why? Because it was one game.

Of course that doesn't mean Georgia is top 5, or Wisconsin is top 5, or we're bottom 10 or whatever.

But in order to even get close to Bama, you have to be a good team. LSU, A&M, Georgia...those are good teams. Far better than Wisconsin.

I'm not holding out much hope. I'm rooting for Nebraska...but...I have a very, very bad feeling about this.

Might want to check and see if you actually agree with the original post or not.

It depends on what your definition of "good" is.

I think we're an average team. Georgia is a good team.

Georgia is going to put us to sleep quickly.

  10. Georgia is way overrated. Not saying they aren't a good team, and they should definitely be a large favorite against us, but they are not a great team. 11. We SHOULD have beat Wisconsin. There is no excuse for why we did not.

According to who? According to what standard of measurement?

I don't like the argument that it's tough to beat a team twice.

We know Nebraska could beat Wisconsin, because they did that in September.

    This was pathetic.

If you remember though, Wiscy was puttin an ass-whoopin on the Huskers early in that game as well.

    True, but Nebraska still won.

I expected Nebraska to win. I thought it would be close, but I expected Nebraska to win.

I could have accepted a loss by about a TD or so. That happens.

    But...this...

    this...

  14. Do you guys think that if we compete and beat Georgia it will wash the stank off the program remaining from the CCG? A bowl win and 11-3 season would sure make it a BETTER offseason.

I hope they pull it together for January. You know, for the kids.

Considering mass majority was that we would go 7-5 this season, I don't know why people are so glum. Yes, it would make a much better offseason, and would be a very good season.

Because we should be 11-2 right now and Big Ten champs.

We SHOULD have beat Wisconsin. There is no excuse for why we did not.

  15. Wisconsin.

    Everything about them.

Their students are horrible human beings, they attacked my buddy's car last year, I was relentlessly verbally abused last year.

Their coach is a douche, known for running up the score.

Everything about them I hate. They are the anti-Nebraska: Red, play physical like us, everything, but they are absolutely classless and I want nothing more than to get vengeance on them.

  16. You know what's annoying? The Badger fans talking sh#t in the comments on the article. What a bunch of arrogant pricks. Call me when you actually WIN the Rose Bowl you chumps.

That's because Wisconsin fans are scum.

I hate Wisconsin with a passion. Much more than Iowa.
