  1. It’ll be interesting to see how long Kirk hangs on. With the B1G expansion and equitable B1G scheduling, those routine 9-3/8-4/7-5 seasons will assuredly be more and more difficult to come by. It wouldn’t shock me if he hangs it up soon. It also wouldn’t shock me if he makes the Iowa Athletic Department pry the job from his cold, dead hands.

My gut says he and Brian aren’t going anywhere. Iowa having to settle a $4m lawsuit out of court on his behalf, with Kirk coming out seemingly unscathed is quite an accomplishment. If he can navigate that without an issue, keeping around his son will be a layup.

You also have to imagine the nepotism can go only go on for so long until it creates some dissension within the ranks. I’m honestly surprised it hasn’t already. Parker and Woods both work their tails off for their respective units, and yet they’re being held back because of Baby Huey. Parker is 60 so he probably rides it out at Iowa. But if I’m a 45 year old Woods, and someone like Michigan St calls… I’m answering.

We were up by 24 with 4 mins left.. pretty sure every coach in college would have made the same personnel call as Rhule did.

Iowa was up 24-6 against Utah St with 7 min left when they pulled Cade McNamara.

It seemed to me that most of the game, they switched Grant and Ervin in and out.  So....who do you have in the game to run out the clock?  I know we were up 25 points, but we have lost so many games in unbelievable style that I'm sure they just wanted an RB that takes care of the ball and they can trust.

This was a freak injury.  Very unfortunately, but I don't blame the coaches for this.

I’m confident there are several RBs on the roster that could have filled in during garbage time. A 25 point swing in 6 minutes? C’mon.

His last carry was with 6:30 to go in the 4Q when we were up 28-3.  Took a handoff 10 yards and limped off.  Nothing in the tackle looked off to me.

    Thanks for finding that.

I understand anything can happen at any time with football, but man this it is wildly frustrating. Given that Rahmir was already injured at this point in the game, is it asking too much for the coaches to have a little wherewithal to pull some starters with the game in hand?

I don't remember if it was the last drive, but I do remember seeing him walk off the field holding his hip near the end of the game. That really sucks.

My best to both of them. Hopefully the coaches/players can identify some opportunities to work around this news and find other players who can step up.

I also remember seeing that and thinking “Great, he’s hurt now. Why was he even in, this game is over.”

I'm so tired of the same flexes year after year from these clowns. You'll never take over our stadium. There's nothing to do in Lincoln. It's a flyover state.

Yeah, guess what, the eastern half of Colorado is flyover too. I've driven from Limon to Burlington. I've been to Holyoke and Sterling. I know what it smells like when the wind blows in from the north from Greeley before a snowstorm.

    Can’t forget Fart Morgan!

It's a Nebraska message board. You people act like we should be in active hate against our team 24/7.

If being a Nebraska fan isn't good enough for you, Colorado could use some help in their cheering section.

Case in point. There were plenty of very fair criticisms and questions about the Rhule hire and his subsequent staff hires that were met with this exact kind of histrionic response.

I know that many people, particularly millennials, won't bother reading and will simply TL;DR.

Losing to Iowa by 30, and Ohio State by 59, before laying an egg in the bowl game, seems to have some influence on perception.

Following up that one 9 win season by fielding the most lifeless Neb team since the moon landing probably has something to do with it too.

It’s almost like context matters and one 9 win season doesn’t outweigh the death spiral he put this program in.

Also....this really shows why inflation spiked up.  People had more money so they were buying a lot of stuff driving up demand...thus driving up prices.

    But......it's all Biden's fault.

Right. When life starts to return to normal, folks will spend more and put less towards savings. This isn’t the elaborate “gotcha” that it’s being made out to be.

Zerohedge isn't a credible source, and I can't find the JP Morgan source for that chart (although I find a few other sites also showing it without a link to the source). The closest I can find is the personal savings rate here: https://am.jpmorgan.com/us/en/asset-management/adv/insights/market-insights/market-updates/on-the-minds-of-investors/how-healthy-is-the-consumer/

    MI_OTMI_090722_Chart.png

That chart shows that people saved a lot of money and are now saving less, not that they spend all their savings. Here's a link to an analysis by the Federal Reserve that also shows a slowdown in saving rate and a loss of savings, not that it has all been spent (see Figure 5): https://www.federalreserve.gov/econres/notes/feds-notes/excess-savings-during-the-covid-19-pandemic-20221021.html

Good points. Context matters. When a pandemic interrupts normal spending habits, the folks with the means to do so are of course going to put it towards savings.

Prior to the Covid spike saving trends appear very stagnated. The giant spike in 2020 wasn’t the result of some illustrious Trump policy. It was because there weren’t any T Swift concerts or Amalfi coast trips to go on.
