  1. "It's a sad day for Nebraska football, and it's a sad day for Nebraska," Solich's son-in-law, Jon Dalton of Lincoln, said. "(Pederson) doesn’t like Frank and wanted to get rid of him from the beginning. "We’d like the sheep skin to come off Pederson’s back and let everyone know -- he’s a wolf." This was a quote from the Journal Star website. There are also other items along these lines that I have heard. Many disturbing things: *Solich was given the news over a 5 minute meeting. This tells you a few things, either Solich new this was coming and this meeting was just kind of a "professional" thing that has to be done. Or Pederson despises him so much he wanted him to feel quite worthless and demean him as much as possible. You wonder if they had problems dating back to Pederson's first stint here when he was working with recruiting. *I heard Solich's daughter speak on KM 3news around 10:15pm and she was, obviously, quite upset, but she made some powerful remarks about Pederson. Quite similar to Solich's other family member above, assuming this is her husband above. Solich apparently recieved a very nasty letter from Pederson before the season began. Didn't get exectly what it was about, but something along the lines of "you better win" or "don't worry your gone at the end the year." Also and here is the kicker. Solich attempted to contact Pederson a couple days ago (and quite possible the douche bag move of the year) Pederson's people responded with "the only way to contact Mr. Pederson is through email. Imagine your boss telling you this. There is certainly something else behind all of this. This feud has been going on for a while. Pederson hated Solich.....Solich had the balls and guts to act like nothing was going on to help his players stay focused. *Pelini is going to be given the reigns for the upcoming bowl game. This is probably goinhg to be Pelini's test drive to see if he can be a head coach. *I also have to feel for the assisstant coaches. Before last season, again this is according to Solich's interview on km 3 news, the assisstants were asked to sign 1 and 1/2 year contracts. Now I don't know whether they signed them or were ever offered, but if it is true Pederson truly is a scumbag and he did in fact know all along that he wanted Solich out and it would follow the personality of Pederson. Every since he came here he has been firing people and tightening the reigns on everything. *Many of the boosters have said they are still going to write checkes to the new facility upgrade project, whether Solich is there or not. *Some of the recruits are saying they will still most likely come, but this is also after a week of the coaches calling all these recruits up and telling them everything is all right. Now Nebraska will surely look like a bunch of liars. Ex. anyone else in the NCAA. *Some of the coaches that are being considered as of now are Pelini and the guy from Pittsburgh. I wonder if the entire staff will be gone??? That would be absolutly crushing. I really like the new staff. I like the smash mouth offense. That is Nebraska. I don't want to see pass, pass, pass out of the BIG RED. If someone close to the family isn't chosen and the many of these coaches are gone, Nebraska could be in some serious trouble. three, four, maybe five years before we have a winning record. I wonder if Gill is going to be considered. *I loved the family atmoshere and especially all the new coaches. They seem to fit so well. All (except Pelini) had Nebraska ties. All new the situation. I really enjoyed them this year. And now..........now it could be all over. This is a dispicable move. I rather be 10-3 and have that family, long standing tradition going. It just doesn't feel the same. We are now just another college football program in it for the buisness. We are just another SEC school that hides and makes moves behind the others back and listens to its boosters instead of the fans. Maybe my feelings will change after I hear everyones side, but I'll be hard pressed. The one thing now we can do is hope and pray all the assisstant coaches get to stay. Stick together fellow Huskers. It's going to get worse before better Eric "the Red" ps reports all day tomorrow-----stay here..www.huskerboard.com
  2. http://msn.espn.go.com/ Its been confirmed through several sources. Its all over the Lincoln news and Omaha that SOlich has been let go by the Huskers. Not sure if he'll accept a position, but this is huge. I'll get back as soon as possible. 10pm news its all over it. Big time move. eric "the red"
  3. I really think kids today aren't into waiting. They want to play right away. Therefore NU could get a few, but it's really difficult to gauge these guys now. Have to wait till after January because any of these guys can change any day. Kind of a crappy thing, but it happens all the time. Negative recruiting has certainly been on the rise. This head coaching crap going on is so going to be used agianst us. We'll have to do our best. I think the Adams kid is going to come. Fabien Washington loves Lincoln. He showed this Adams kid its okay and even cool to be in Lincoln. Pure athlete.....we need it. I think well get the big mormon too!! He met and hung out at a church fore like an hour and a friggin half. He knows there's mormon's here. Grixby is a must...in state and beat out a rival. He knows he can get Nebraska pu&&y too. He is not a gift from NU coaches. Like some of these in state guys of years gone by. f#*k Gunn, he sucks. If he comes he'll sit for for years and play special teams. There are plenty of guys better than him. Bagwell is a waste of time too. NU shouldn't bother. If you look at the top 100, Nebraska is in a bunch of these guys. Not at Oklahoma or Texas's level yet, but certainly improving. Keep the faith Eric "the Red"
  4. Espn has caught hold of the story or rumor. Things are going to get interesting. Bad timing?? You could say yes , but also no. If he is gone than there will be plenty of time to get a coach in to help recruiting. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1669092 Associated Press LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska's athletic director will try to persuade coach Frank Solich to retire after the team's final regular season game, The Lincoln Journal Star reported Sunday. A department spokeswoman said neither the athletic director, Steve Pederson, nor Solich would comment on the report. "We're not going to respond to rumors," Chris Anderson told The Associated Press. The newspaper, citing unnamed Nebraska boosters, said Pederson wants to offer Solich another job in the athletic department and a buyout package. Solich makes $1.1 million a year in a contract that runs through the 2005 season. Pederson, in his first year as athletic director, told the newspaper he hasn't spoken to anyone about a plan to force Solich out. Solich, 59, is in his sixth season as head coach and holds a 57-22 record. However, the Huskers (No. 23 ESPN/USA Today, No. 25 AP) have been inconsistent since he took over for Tom Osborne, who retired after the 1997 season. Nebraska won the Big 12 title in 1999 and played for the national title in 2001, but last year the team finished without a winning record, going 7-7, for the first time since 1961. The Huskers now stand at 8-3, 4-3 in the Big 12, having suffered lopsided losses to Missouri, Texas and Kansas State. Nebraska plays Colorado on Friday.
  5. All good points. I'm sure it looks that bleak for the future. Anytime you have a defensive coordinator and defense returning many of its starters you've got a chance to win a decent amount of games. It's really got to be talent. In '99 Solich had a lot of Osborne's recruits. This year I really see a difference in recruiting. At least this year many of the top 100 are considering the Huskers unlike the past couple of years. Osborne was able to get more time for his QB's baecause the won so many games by a huge margin, but those game across the country are few and far between anywhere now. What about Frost in '96, he didn't get anytime the year before. I really don't know where I stand on this issue, but I'm really leaning toward Solich staying. Needs time with his new staff. Eric "the Red"
  6. This is it? I get on here and slam the mighty Wildcats and your pu&&y QB and that's all I get? I compared the mighty Roberson to Lord, called that bitch with bush above his eyes a pu&&y and you don't responde. Boy something must be wrong in Wildcat Nation. I love your sad, swan song you divulge to us in the middle: "We have no trophies. We have no championships. But we have to start somewhere. So we started at the top." What kind bullsh#t is this. Wait (sniffle, sniffle) let me wipe that tear away. Kansas State has made some strides, but in today's college game it was made much easier by the scholorship reductions. ANd the fact that Kansas St. has copied much of what Nebraska does. For example look at all the schools in the top 25 that wouldn't have been there ten years ago: Northern Illinois, Miami of Ohio, TCU. I also laugh at the fact that you so casually shove aside our accolades. The reason for this are many. But the one that does come to mind is the simple fact you have NOTHING. Many of the Huskers accomplishments have occurred in the recent past. Not 40 and 50 years ago. When did one of your players win a Heisman? You claim your team is trying to work on their tradition. I have read several post many times about this. Tradition is typically based on what you have done in the past. Accolades and accompishments from previous teams and players. According to KST's logic, you guys seem fairly quick to pull the trigger on Nebraska's tradition or downplaying it. So why are you trying to build your own if you don't see value in it??????? Can't have it both ways. H.F. says "So here we (KST) are ten years later and we are the cream of the crop in the North division." Anyone who loses to Marshall at home and has three loses total is cream of my diarrhea sh#t after a night at the Watering hole for wings, a burrito as big as my head for a midnight snack and toppped of by a stop for a George's gyro for dessert. H.F. says "You don't like to hear fans of teams, that kick your ass, brag and boast about it." Well who the f#*k does dickwad??!??!? But at least we have the guts to come out and give your team props and a bit of respect and acknowledge that your team played well and beat are ass. Didn't we?? Many posts will dignify that. But that wasn't good enough you wanted an argument so you got one. Many Husker fans simply don't get in your face, some do, but more so the other way. I will because I didn't grow up in the Midwest. I don't have that quiet attitude. I don't give a f#*k. Husker fans have stayed off of that bangwagon of pure hatred and bashing of the opponent, for the most part. I'm one of the exceptions, I hate alot of the teams in the BIg 12. But there are a few I certainly respect. Don't worry KST's not one of them. Not that any of us are going to listen, but you need to get your story straight, which way do you expect. You can't have it both ways. By the way, when was the last time there was an article written about your fans like the on in the Denver Post entitled "Football Nirvana??" There are plenty of fans who dislike the Huskers?? That's because we win and we have an extremely large fan base. KST's fans extend about as far as a 30 mile radius outside of Manhatten. And yes as you put, "That's the price you pay for being the best." Couldn't have put it better myself. Remember your coach will be dead in three years, so you'd better win soon. Eric "the Red" ps Purple is for pu&&y's pps Welcome to football nirvana
  7. All right tough guy, you couldn't keep your mouth shut. Let's get right to it. You are correct, Wildcats in the past four years have beaten three of Nebraska's worst teams in the past 50 years. Congratulations. And after all of this what have the Wildcats to show for it?? Not a single f'ing' thing. KST seems to base their entire f'ing' season on beating Nebraska. If they do, nothing else seems to matter. And that's why you will never win a damn thing. Including this season, after you beat Nebraska, what are you playing for?? ....the Holiday Bowl crown??? Cotton Bowl??? WOW that's impressive. Just amazing. KSt starts the season ranked 6th...big dreams of winning it all.. Oh too bad your pu&&y QB got hurt and you and the Mildcats went into the toilet. If you had a QB half as tough as Lord on your team maybe you could possible be in the top ten. You lost to Marshall at home!!!!!!!!!!!! Something like that has never happened to Nebraska. You and your pale-skinned, no personality douche of a coach better win soon because I give him another three years and he'll be dead....literally. All of KSt winning, all the blowouts against the James Madison's, the Middle Tenneessee St's, whatever, what have they to show for it??? Absolutely f'ing' nothing Remember that you flamer...Even the best team to ever set foot in Manhatten as the home team, you remember the one with Bishop and that c**t who pulled Crouch's face mask, lost 2 games including the Big 12 championship to f'ing' A&M. What is that?? I ask you again WHAT HAS KST WON??? Nothing..........Oh wait did you say something. I couldn't here you well with all these Lombardi awards, Outland Trophys and National Championship trophy's in the way. Wait hold on, I still can't understand, I need to side step these pesky Heismans and Rimington Awards. Oh wait that's the problem this Butkus, Davey O'Brien, Johnny U Golden Arm and Maxwell Trophy's are plugged up my ears. I think I heard a mumble, let me set aside all of these All Americans to hear you. Nothing ????? Is that what you said...I went through all that to hear Nothing. Oh well it was worth it. Have fun with your victory over Nebraska because it will be your last of the year. Call your season a success. Nebraska has work to do and they know it. There down, theres no disputing that. You guys are content where you are and Nebraska isn't. That's drive bitch...We still sell out a crowd twice as big as yours. Bring it Eric "the Red" If you come back with some lame sh#t about this series you have proven my point!
  8. http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,3...1771536,00.html Sea of red good for soul Nebraska fans stay true to loyalties, sportsmanship By Bill Briggs Denver Post Sports Writer AP / Dave Weaver Despite a loss, Huskers fans never lose their cool - or forget their manners - during games in Lincoln, Neb. LINCOLN, Neb. - Welcome to the way it should be. To the one place where howling for the home team doesn't mean bashing the visitors - an island of good cheer in a world where sportsmanship is nearly extinct, a Jurassic Park for the touchdown crowd. Welcome to a corn-flavored wonderland of red balloons and the Black Shirt defense, a state where everything halts on Husker Saturdays: work, weddings and, sometimes, the births of babies. You need some sun? Go to Miami. You need some action? Go to Vegas. You need to soothe your football soul? Come to Lincoln - preferably in mid-November when the sky is slate gray and the sea is red. Advertisement "It's funny," says one Nebraska diehard, Mike O'Donnell from Omaha. "A buddy of mine who is a Michigan State fan actually got mad because the fans were so friendly during a lopsided (Huskers) win a few years ago. He just wanted to be left alone." Better go somewhere else if that's your game. Here, no matter what color you're wearing, it's more family reunion - hugs, handshakes and Nebraska-shaped hamburgers. (Scottsbluff sticks out of the bun.) This marked the 10th stop on The Denver Post's spin through Big 12 venues. At each stadium, I wear the visiting team's attire into a rabid mass of homers. At the house of red Saturday, I donned purple and pulled for Kansas State: the biggest game at Memorial Stadium in years. The winner likely would play mighty Oklahoma for the Big 12 Conference crown, the loser would grab a mid-December bus to the Baloney Bowl. Husker Nation was pumped. That didn't change a thing in the stands. Ever been there in the opposing team's duds? Here's a corn-roasted sampler of a visitor's game day in Lincoln. Along the vehicular thicket that Interstate 80 becomes on certain Saturdays, you sense the first hints of the football addiction 10 miles outside Lincoln. Three hours before kickoff, you notice a higher ratio than normal of red cars, red trucks and red minivans. Flags bearing "Huskers" and "Black Shirts" flutter at 60 mph. Magnetized N's adorn the side panels. Personalized license plates make bold proclamations such as: 1NUFAN1. In Lincoln, tavern entrances seem to simultaneously inhale and exhale men, women and children in red coats, red sweaters, red scarves, red pants, red shoes and red necklaces. (A few free spirits wear yellow corncob knit caps.) On city buses, the destination panels above the windshields flash: Go Big Red. The parking lot attendant points you toward the party, under the Ninth Street overpass next to Memorial Stadium. There, between the RVs and the grills, a ragtag group of men and women wielding a bass drum, trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, tuba, saxophone and other instruments jam out Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4" and then bounce into the Nebraska fight song. They wear Huskers jerseys and call themselves "The Drunken Alumni Band." Near a rickety bus hand-painted green with cornstalks, a Nebraska student carries a half-shucked ear of corn above his head while a woman grabs a slice of rye from her wicker, corn-shaped breadbasket. There is something about the corn, something deeper than the school emblem, something remotely soothing. Maybe it's the American roots it represents. The peaceful sound of the rustling it makes. An hour before the game, you stroll past a chain-link fence into the Husker Nation Pavilion, a carnival of Big Red boosters, booths and a band stage set up at the Nebraska track and field complex. Just inside the gate, a woman in a yellow security jacket grabs your arm firmly. You think maybe you forgot to pay. But the woman, Peggy, then clasps your hand with both of hers and says with a smile: "Good luck today, honey. We thank you for coming." On a grass field chalked up with white yard markers, dads and sons toss footballs. Time to go in. Beneath the south stands, you watch about 200 Nebraska faithful line up along a brick walkway inscribed with national championship years and the names of Huskers financial backers. The fans hoot and holler as the home team emerges from the locker room and, wearing one giant game face, heads up the tunnel and then onto the field. Minutes later, segments of the Huskers marching band flow out of the four on-field openings, then merge on the turf. You take your seat as two F-14 fighter jets buzz the stadium, perfectly punctuating the final note of the national anthem. About two rows back, a lone Huskers fan boos as the Kansas State Wildcats take the field. A grandmotherly woman just behind you snaps her head around and lectures: "We DO NOT boo. THAT is bad sportsmanship!" The man does not make another peep. See, Nebraska isn't exactly the tourist capital of the Heartland. Huskers fans quietly beam when folks stream in from other states, checking out the university and the ambiance. "The team is viewed by so many as the front door to the state," says Bill Ojile, a 1985 Nebraska graduate who lives in Greenwood Village. "We're proud of the sea of red. We're proud of the campus. People just like having new folks here." As the Huskers score on an acrobatic, knee-twisting pass from quarterback Jammal Lord, fans let loose hundreds of red balloons that float above the field and drift south toward Kansas. The game is tied 7-7. The home team will never taste a lead. Kansas State throttles the Huskers in the second half en route to a 38-9 waxing. It marks the first Wildcats win in Lincoln since 1968, the worst home drubbing for Nebraska since 1958. But you notice the vast majority of fans stay and watch until the game's final five minutes. As they file out, a military man in a camouflage uniform punches you lightly in the arm and says sincerely: "Good luck against Oklahoma, man." "It's a lot easier to be hospitable when you're on top," Ojile admits. You file out through a north-end portal along with the smiling, back-patting Kansas State players. Above that narrow exit, several dozen red-clad fans are standing. They are clapping. For K-State. Notre Dame's got their Touchdown Jesus. But I'll take football nirvana.
  9. Does anybody agree with what this guy is saying??? I do. I feel the same way H.F. does. We call ourselves the best fans in AMerica yet we were leaving before the clock hit 10:00. Nebraska has to stop wining and stick it out, instead of trying to beat the traffic. I don't give a sh#t what the score is. Now I will not even go any where near the part that Husker pride died. That's getting a bit ridiculous. Even with all the tough loses and blowouts the Huskers have endured the last couple years, we have still soldout every game. And that is 75,000 and not 40,000. But I will get back to the point that you made and I stand by it. The fans gave up to early and bailed. Keep the faith, a humbled eric "the Red"
  10. A great quote from a Wildcat website called "catzone" Few can offer advice for the Wildcats, considering the Huskers stand 101-5 at home over the last 16 seasons. If anyone has a clue it is Texas coach Mack Brown, who is 2-0 with the Longhorns in Lincoln. In 1998, Brown's first team at UT snapped a 47-game home winning streak for NU. "You don't have to discuss it with your team," Brown said. "Nebraska's won more home games than anybody and your players are aware of that. It's their great fan support and they play with such great confidence at home. They get on that turf and they have so much speed. They've got a chance to beat anybody at home." Texas went there again last season and handed Nebraska a 27-24 defeat, but Brown acknowledged the difficulties with winning there more than he did his trade secrets. "You can't hear. It's a closed-in stadium and it's been sold out forever, since they first had college football, I think," Brown said. "They expect to win there, and when you take 18- or 22-year-olds and they feel that confident about something, it makes it more difficult." Several players on K-State's veteran roster have played there already and can attest to the noise level. "I remember standing up there on the sideline with Justin Montgomery, no further away than me and you, and I couldn't hear a word he was saying," senior defensive end Thomas Houchin said. "I thought, 'This is ridiculous.' They like their football up there, that's for sure." Eric "the Red"
  11. I don't even know if the game is really that important to the recruits, to be honest, as far as winning I mean. The point is that they need to experience and witness what goes on their on Saturday and the day or two leading up to it. And if this is indeed the case, we have all ready won. If the game doesn't turn out like we all want, the kids could think, "hey I could come in here and start right away" or "I can help them regain their edge." Watched Big Red Wrap up and have been on rivals browsing some recruits and there are just a ton coming in this week. On the program they mentioned about a dozen are to visit. Give or take a few. These are really the top notch recruits we need. Also the other big weekends appear to be the second and third weeks in December. GO BIG RED Eric "the Red"
  12. Rivals.com Reserve (La.) East St. John running back Derron Thomas was all set to take his first official visit to the University of Nebraska this coming weekend when something dramatic happened to change those plans. “I committed to Miami on Friday,” the Rivals.com third-ranked all-purpose back said.

  16. Don't forget Danny Muy from Tallahassee, Fl. A high school by the way the Huskers have offered four scholorships to four players. He has us and Alabama as his co #1's Eric "the red"
  17. Anyone also notice, I think Williams is the recruiter for this area, that the Huskers are going after New Jersey hard again. They are in on 6-10 recruits from the Garden St. This is always a good state to hit. There is no D-1 college in the state(I don't consider Rutgers a school) Tons of kids are plucked from that state every year. New Jersey has some of the greatest brain drain out of any state. Look at any college football team and there's a good chance there is a Jersey kid on the roster. Penn. ST, Syracuse, and Iowa also get a bunch...and so will we. This conjure up memories: Peter brothers Irvin Fryer Mike Rozier Karem Moss Baron Miles on and on and on .... eric "the red"
  18. I disagree here. DT isn't going to come. He has some kind of attitude and I think he'll go commit to Georgia about a week before signing. Just seems like a prick to me. Also he may sign on for baseball. They lay a $100.000 check in front of you he's going to sign so he can buy his Humm. I really know very little about Everidge. I know he's a lefty, I watched him on tv a bit, but I still don't see. What makes him a good recruit?? I'm not being a jerk, I'm just inquiring. Rivals doesn't have him ranked. I hope they turn out good, IF they come eric "the red"
  19. We are in the hunt for all of them, but the problem has been just that. It always seems that we are in the hunt and it comes down to either Nebraska and another team and we never seem to get them. I think one of the problems is something like reverse psychology. Huskers recruit kids, but they(the recruit) think that because we are such a run oriented team that all the running backs here are All-American. When any one from the area or follows Husker football knows that this simply is not the case. Kids because they are not knowlegable shy away because they feel they wont get playing time until their senior year. On to another subject about knowledge of the problem results from the limitations on contact that schools can make with a recruit. Also that there is so much negative recruiting goin on out there from other programs bad mouthing each other. Something Nebraska never does. For example, Andre Brown has NU listed third because he feels he willl get more playing time?!?!??!? OHHH f#*k it....we better get someone. eric "the red"
  20. It seems we may be going back to an old formula. One in which we get all of our horses up front from the state of Nebraska. Where kids have this undeniable desire to lift and practice and push themselves to levels never thought possible by many of the nations top teams who never decided to both recruit them. Youth, energy and new f'ing ideas are going to get a couple recruits, but I still think Nebraska doesn't recruit aggressive enough Look at last year, as soon as a couple of the new coaches came here , Nebraska immidiately got some top recruits. eric "the red"
  21. Is it me or has Solich broken out of his shell??? When is the last time you heard a good old fashion "tremendous" out of Frankie's mouth. Holy sh#t he even said "hell" the other day. Is this the real Solich, the uncontrollable, outgoing type. Or is he like one of those kids who wants to be like all the others and tries to act like everyone else. Think about it............. he is surrounded by young people. Maybe he thinks he's one of them. He's trying to be "down" and "hip" Just a thought Eric "the Red"
  22. CEdric Benson will practice with the team this week and apparently play if he Wins the starting position back, this according to local yocal Macky Brown. Eric "the Red"

  24. , what Kellen did was completly wrong. I don't give a f#*k what that kid was saying. Let him talk all he wants, you don't lay into him and throw a round house right and knock the kid out. Any of you know what that's like. Because of this incident we have bad publicity like this: http://www.woai.com/sports/story.aspx?cont...19-F2A51748C412 Some dumb shmuck show broadcast their damn views. This is bad for recruiting something we haven't excelled in lately. Football players have to realize that they are amazingly stronger than most people in the entire world. This Kellen kid is a walk-on. Probably hasn't lifted quite like this in his entire life. Now he's gettin muscles and getting bigger and wants to show off. Well wrong way bud. Now if they can show that he was clearly in jeopardy of being jumped or whatever, I don't if that a-hole was shootin his mouth off or not, unless he mad contacy with him you can't knock a kid out. I can't think of much to defend Kellen. I'm sorry Go big red (A frustrated) Eric "the Red"
