It would by crazy to upgrade the Devaney during season when the BB teams are moving to the arena. I am sure once they move that there are plans to upgrade big time for the volleyball team. Relax and enjoy or just stay home.

It's all about guarding the perimeter and getting other players involved in the offense. Both of which, Talley does not do very well.
-
Players I'd like us to look at:
Drew Ellis:
Indiana: SS
Zac Shannon
Archbishop Moeller HS,
Ohio: RHP/1B
Michael Papierski
Lemont High School
Illinois: Catcher
David Peterson
Regis Jesuit High School
Colorado: LHP/1B/OF
Austin Powell
Fountain-Fort Carson HS
Colorado: INF
forgot our own instate boy, shame on me!!
Jackson Reetz
Norris High School
Nebraska: OF
Jackson has an offer and is already committed to NU.
Pretty doubtful he makes it to campus, though.
I don't know the Reetz family but know a ton of people from the Firth/Norris area. Everyone I've talked to that knows them believes he'll go to school.
I know the family and will agree, but $ can change minds quickly.

We really need this guy. I can not wait!
-
For him to even consider us, we have to win some games and show we have players on the team that can get us to the next level. The more he sees "Nebraska" the better.
-
Sometimes it just takes a relationship. There is always a chance, no matter how slim.

I am with Lyons, I see contribution from both transfers, Biggs & Webster to join Shields, Rivers & Gallegos. I think we run out of gas at the end of games and next year, we will have more depth. We just need more bulk to rebound and score in the post. If it is true that the scout team beats up on the current starters, it would not be a surprise to be in the dance next year. Regardless, the NIT is not a bad step for a team that has not played in the post season for quite awhile.
I am not disagreeing at all......just making a statement regarding the "scout" team. I admit that I do not follow the BB recruiting nearly as close as football or pretend to know much, if at all about our depth...but, I do know that for 2 years, under Doc, everyone kept saying that we had 5 freshmen who could beat our starters and that we were only 2 years away.
I am sure this was the truth, and it probably has a lot to do with guys leaving the program (???), but it seems like the "scout team" myth has been used a lot lately, wtih no results.
Once again, I am not debating your comment, just making statement about the past years (yes, under an old coach.)
Considering that the scout is not freshman and on paper are better athletes than what's on the floor, I tend to believe. But I have no proof other than seeing Ptichford play at the Y. Can not wait to see him on the floor next year!
Thank you for the information...like I said, I don't claim to know much about it..... my "freshman" reference was directly aimed at the Doc era, when I believe that he brought in 4-5 fresh and the discussion did revolve around that group that he "redshirted". Not this year's "scout" team.
Most of what I know is what I read and get from the posters. Livin in Lincoln, I get a lot of senseless rumors. Everyone has a friend at the Univ, that knows something. In fact, I have relation in the athletic dept. and its always closed lips so I don't ask!

Agree! I do not think Miles was aware of that until we got into the conference schedule. This is probably why he is letting Thomas go. We need some bulk!
-
Pitching will be fine. We need to put the bat on the ball, when we have a runner in scoring position. It seemed like we SO 50% of the time.
-
Webster could be that player that changes Husker BB. I read somewhere that if he played in the US, he would be a 5 star player. We have the facilities, arena, coach and now we just need to start winning some games. Big name players want to win & go to the NBA!

Talley is frustrating for the simple fact that he thinks he is a good shooter.. Or thinks he is clutch.
When the game is close, he seems to think he has to shoot the ball every time.
Talley just annoys me with his decision making.
Not saying he hasnt helped the team at times but he is on my Sh#t list.
I agree! He drives me crazy! Shields is a FR and he knows if he is not open to pass! It is a simple concept, find the open shooter!
-
Every fan is different, but for me we need to be competitive and be in a tournament every year (NCAA & NIT) with more years in the NCAA.
-
You forgot that we were better with Talley on the bench. Shields only shots in the last 10 minutes was on rebounds and an assist from Ubel. Talley can score, but fails to get the rest of the team involved in the game and his defenses avg. at best!
-
Maybe there is a good chance of getting Russell in 2014, which give us a 3-4 yr. player or maybe grades are a issue?
-
Like every game this weekend, there was a lack of plate discipline. Great pitching effort, maybe too many innings for Vogt.
-
Good pitching, but too many SO with runners in scoring position.
-
i think there are some very valuable lessons to be learned here, I think the titans are a pretty good team. and we obviously have some talent issues that this program needs to fill in the future.
I think this staff have a view of where this team is now and what they need to work on to get progress out of this team. I think this team will grow as the season progresses and we will see the results on the field. These early season non con games are going to help this program for league play which is obviously the main goal for this team.
Agree about the lack of talent, but I expected more out of the pitching staff under year 2 of Silva.
This team has a long way to go. Hitting needs to go back to the basics, too many free swingers with two strikes and pitching is horrible. We might have more HB then SO, for sure we have more BB. Just an ugly weekend.
-
At least it was competitive.Give Miles some talent and he would have put this one away handily.
Agreed!
-
We are down 1 when Talley comes in the game. He makes more mental mistakes than shots. He also looks for his shot instead of the open player. This has been a problem all year.
-
Too many SO!
