  1. Naahh. They were just pumping him up b/c he had a couple decent passes. Broadcasters are so fickle and worthless you cant count on them for accurate analysis on anything. Yer right RMS, I could see him getting a look in the league at WR (if good enough hands), or DBack. But thats about it.
  2. This will be a sight to behold. The antithesis of what has defined Memorial Stadium for so many years will come to fruition and conception before our very eyes. It will be a tough road folks, dont kid yourself. There will be frustration and mass doubt. But we need to be supportive of BC and the new regime even after this "honeymoon" period, b/c things arent changing back anytime soon. And yes expect the WCO to look very ugly at times. We all know that the offense takes much longer than the D to develop, even with a run focused attack, so you can imagine the growing pains we are in for. Just keep the faith, support the Scarlet and Cream, and GBR!!
  3. Good points guys. Yes I would agree that this class supersedes a Solich class even with a full season to do it. Yes we will have some minor setbacks along the way, but as CH mentioned we just need to stay focused and not waver from the objective. Yes it may be different than we're used to around here, but it seems it may be the only solution to help us compete nationally again. So along the way incidents like this one will occur, but yes that appears to be part of the process. Good luck to MM, good job to BC and co., and GBR!!
  4. Good stuff guys. Was out of town this past wknd, and its nice to come back to a good breakdown of the latest info. Well I'll try to add something. Unfortunately its not better news, but Darity from Tally has just removed NU from his short list. And Gallon has FSU, Auburn and Tenn on his short list. Manning has it down to Auburn, Florida State, Nebraska and Tennessee. So its not looking too good for any of the other Tally5. Like Redout said, the announcement should be made during WCTV's 6:00 p.m. news broadcast in Tally. Man if we land T Nunn, Hinds, Coley, McCoy and a few others, along with Jordan Adams I will be real stoked. Very nice class.
  5. OWH: Mitch Sherman: In first 3 weeks, Callahan shows he can seal the deal
  6. OWH: Hipp says walk-on cuts will take away dreams
  7. OWH: Callahan hits snag in hiring Knowles
  8. Its his alma mater Cornell that has his interest. Looks like the roles might be reversed for us this time around, with a coach being drawn away to go "where his heart is". I would certainly give it serious consideration," Knowles said. "Whenever Cornell has called for me, as a student-athlete or as a coach, I have always said yes." http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_np=0&u_pg...38&u_sid=988424
  9. Heres an interesting art about our boy IM Hipp, who I didnt even realize was a walk on b/c he was so damn good. This is an example of the risk we take by reducing this X factor. I just dont see how the "reward" outweighs the "risk" of maintaining the walk on program as is. We had MANY successful years with the large number of walk ons in tact, and I would argue that there was a direct correlation b/t the walk ons and the success. They benefit the program in more ways than we even realize. I know there are expenses and burdens with a roster of 170 players, but to me its a small price to pay for diamonds like IM Hipp. "I always was a Nebraska fan," he said. "Most people in the neighborhood, when the annual game was played on Thanksgiving Day against Oklahoma, rooted for Oklahoma. I always pulled for Nebraska. I believed in the tradition. I loved to win," Hipp said. "When I went into the auditorium, all the blue-chippers and lettermen were there, and everybody walked up and asked, 'How can we help you?' " Hipp recalled. "I told him that I came to play football." "I was a walk-on, and I'm still a walk-on, and I carry it with me in my heart." http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_np=0&u_pg...38&u_sid=988825
  10. Few more updates: Michael McLaughlin didnt especially enjoy his visit to Lincoln today. Couldve been related to the weather, as its a bit harder to knock thermal socks off someone. I guess he drove 8 hours in the arctic with his Mom - not sure why the hell we didnt fly them, but there mustve been a reason. Still waiting to find out the scoop, but it doesnt look too good for him. We are still pursuing Ray Williams, contrary to earlier beliefs. CAll and co. are visiting him and Roland Martin at their homes in the next 2 days. We are competing with Phil Fulmer for Ro Martin as well. This will determine if they come to Mecca this wknd. If not, forget it. Word is this Coley kid BRJ told us about might be N, if only we can convince him to visit. He seems to have expressed intrigue in Lincoln, but whether the stars align in time or not to get him to Lincoln remains to be seen. Rocky Hinds also is rumored to be more likely to be a Husker than we think. Apparently his Mom wants him to leave LA for school. Notre Dame is his "favorite", however has not jumped at their offer. It seems to be down to us, ND, and USC. I'd say we have a 33.33% chance if that makes you feel any better. Hey its a game of rock paper scissors... lets just hope Callahan goes with Rock!
  11. Check this OUT!! Gill visited Nunn at his home in Houston tonight, and it appears the powers of Gill are even mightier than once thought! Nunn's Mom said he hasnt officially chosen b/t NU and Wis, but that she "really" likes Coach Gill, and that "I truly believe that Nebraska is where his heart is at. “ .... very very nice. Along with the fact that he has changed his interest level with the recruiting services to 'High' for Nebraska and Low for Wisc. Yessir!!! Bring him home boys.
  12. Anyone hear anything else to the hope for getting Rocky Hinds to Lincoln? Man that would be huge even if he visited, b/c we know that we have some serious closers on our staff. Lemming has Hinds at #6 overall http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/...page=2004topqbs
  13. Nice call Redout. But I happen to remember a certain player with the initials of AG that does the same thing and did quite well for us. ESPN/Lemming has B Jax at #9 overall http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/...page=2004toprbs
  14. Thanks for the info guys. Well according to Max Emfingers list, we have several top croots in town this weekend. Murtha is #4, and Roland Martin is not far behind, so that would be smooth if we could bookend the line with those two. http://www.maxemfingerrecruiting.com/artic...s/2003uss.shtml
  15. Thx for the look NZone. Yes this is very solid. Also of note: Callahan will talk to Rocky Hinds this week in hopes of getting him to visit. They will also go to the home of Roland Martin and Darryl Richard (DE). And based on my Big Red crystal ball Ive got Vernon Smith, Mike McClaughlin, Jordan Reever(QB), and Andre 2004 Hall (RB) slotted for this wknd. Is that about right NZone? BRM
  16. BTW, Ive heard some reputable sources say that based on his comments in that post, they 99% believe it to be him based on previous discussions. Tomorrow it will be "official".
  17. This is beautiful. I especially like the part about "getting an education that will last me a lifetime!!" Wow! Those are pretty strong comments. Man our guys are some serious salesmen!! And the good kind too, not the used car kind obviously. I know our academics are pretty revered as some of the best with grad rates and academic all-americans, but man he is almost intimating that MN doesnt hold a candle to ours! Its probably true, but I dont know much about MN so I wont bash what I dont know. But wow stuff like this really makes you proud to be a Husker!! Welcome aboard Big Murth!!
  18. Very good question. And heres a little fix fer ya that just might get ya all puckered up. Word is that a one Josh Hargis (San Marcos (CA) Palomar College Cornerback / Safety) got a call from us while in Ames last weekend, where he just "committed" I might add. Now take this for what its worth, but this "source" said that he was estatic about hearing from us, and although already told ISU he was in, he is VERY intrigued and may give us a look. Kid is a stud, Height: 6-foot-3, 175, 4.4 40 yd and sounds like he's JUST what were looking for to lock down the corners. Bio: Hargis led the nation in interceptions with 11 as a sophomore and was named Mission Conference American Division Defensive Player-of-the-Year along with being first-team all-conference and a JUCO All-American. He attended Vista High School in Vista (Cal.) Cross em up and hope this kid to Lincoln withme. Or just drink and be merry.
  19. John Parrella I believe was. Also on a similar note keep in mind that NU currently has the most active NFL players out of the Big 12 at 32. Large in part to the walk-on program.
  20. How bout a foursome anyone?
  21. Not quite as funny these days, but thought Id throw it on here for the hellofit..
  22. 511.566 Damn you Bob!!! Just when I kicked the Penguin and Monkey habit... now this. you good for nothin... keep em comin.
