Unsportsmanlike Conduct brought Shanle on to explain why he isn't in favor of Rhule.  Shanle spent 10 minutes rambling on a few things

    • Heard it was Rhule a couple weeks ago from a friend in the NFL who didn't have much good to say about Rhule (so a 2nd hand negative experience)
    • Rhule's experience is as a slow, re-builder, and he wanted someone who could come in right away and win - Urban Meyer, or try to hire Lincoln Riley last year (both unrealistic IMO)
    • Rhule's salary is too high for someone with a .500 record in college and a failure in the NFL (could be a fair comment, but that's the market rate)
    • NU should have tried to hire Fickell for $6M (fair point, but no one know if Fickell was interested in the NU rebuild)
    • Finally, he said, if we are going to give 2-3 years to Rhule to turn things around, we should have just given the job to Mickey, because he's a former Husker player and would have been a lot cheaper (the show hosts finally got him to admit that he was mad that Mickey wasn't getting the full-time job, and going to have a bad taste about anyone else)

I don't think there is anything wrong with a dissenting opinion, but I think his complaints were more emotional than rational thought.

Here is a link to the show replays.  https://1620thezone.com/unsportsmanlike-conduct-radio-replay/  It was segment 6 on Nov. 29th.

The hosts just sitting in disbelief at his delusional thoughts was the best part

I don't know much about Collins either, but Mississippi State DC and Florida DC = pretty good SEC experience.

He's the only ever 3 time nominee for the Broyles Award from 3 different schools.

He's also got more gimmicks than anyone in all of college sports. Decent DC, though. Rhule was his recommendation for the TU job

Phil Snow has been Rhule's DC everywhere he's been.  So that would most likely be his first choice.  But he is still Carolina's DC and their season isn't over for another month.  So that could be a hold-up.

Snow was actually let go after Rhule in Carolina. He was quoted at Temple saying that was going to be his last job and Rhule kept him going. This seems to be it for him.

Could see Collins or in a full circle moment with the guy who gave him his chance, Al Golden.

I understand why you say that but their have been cases where coaches don't always go back to their alma mater when the job opens up.

Yea, I just think that's the only one. Assuming he does well here and they still want him. He didn't just go there. He was born and raised in State College.

Wisconsin fans convinced Fickell jumps to OSU the minute they decide to move on from Day.

My question.  Assuming we are having 10-2 type seasons with Rhule, who does he leave us for?

    Penn State

To the bolded name, I've heard there's animosity to how their time ended in Carolina.  If true, I don't expect Joe to come.  And because of the rumored animosity, MJ may not stay.  Supposedly he was also upset by how things shook out in Carolina and doesn't think he can work with Rhule because of it.

That makes sense. Brady was the first fall guy.

I think what Trev meant is that he’s going to hire a great head coach first, and not focus on a guy who will win the press conference. I think the fact that Rhule is good with the media is a bonus, and not something that should tell us that Trev “went against his word”.

    Fair enough.
