team has really shown no I’ll effects of Frost getting booted from the program
I think the offensive output has been affected. Frost was/is a pretty good OC. The real problem was Chin's Defense. Bush has them playing MUCH better. Granted it hasn't been against great offenses, but they are playing better.

I was thinking the same thing C-4

I would be willing to take a chance on Kalen Deboer.

I don't think there is much smoke for this hire (Gundy), but he would be intersting.

O'Brien is not my first choice, but I would take him as well. He has proven that he can win in college. Maybe not a NC, but will compete for division and conference champs.

Carl was the d-line coach but he was focused on the booster wives.
How true

Never cared for the all red or all white for that matter. Not that my opinion matters. I do like the traditional style of red on white for home and white on red for road.

Most of the time, from what i can remember, the DC usually focuses on a position. Carl Pelini was the D-line coach and DC. So was Papuchis. I think most places have this arrangement.

I'm with TGHusker. Campbell is a meh hire. I think he would be stable and consistent, but not win enough for everyone. He sounds more like a MR hire. IF MJ can start to turn the team around this year, keep him but definitely get a different DC.
As much as I don't like Urban, he would probably be the top target to get back to winning. There are a few other coaches that I would give a chance before Campbell though. I like Leipold at KU, Klieman at KSU, Chadwell at CC, Stoops at UK (don't think he will leave), O'Brien has won with less (NFL makes him lower), and I like Herman (but he seems like Frost). There are more and these are not listed in any particular order. I just want someone who will win instantly or someone who will build OL and DL so that they CAN start to win.
my two cents

You could always bump Farah Fawcett. I mean she is dead.

Nebraska was roughly as successful its first three seasons in the Big 10 as it was the previous three seasons in the Big 12. Which is to say pretty successful, but not quite up to the big dogs.
That second Big 10 season in 2012, all Nebraska had to do was defeat a 7-5 Wisconsin team they had already beaten once to go to the Rose Bowl and stake a strong Top 10 claim. We all know what happened there.
When the Big10 concocted the Legends and Leaders divisions, everyone (including Nebraska fans) thought we'd landed in the easier division.
As we continued to play worse, Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue and even Illinois became threats. You could not assemble a Big 10 schedule without teams Nebraska might struggle to beat. This season might be as good as it gets. Put together an 8 game schedule of Big 12 teams and you won't be pencilling in many wins, either.
You know what actually DOES make outsiders dislike Nebraska football? Whiny fans blaming their poor performance on cherry-picked conspiracy theories.
This team has gone out and earned its reputation.

Two of their big runs (including that one) involved the safety coming too far upfield too. Nelson talked about it after the game and mentioned that, along with the fact that it was his job to clean it up and he didn't get it done. I think our defensive problems are mostly relatively easy to fix - whether they get fixed or not, we'll see.
this is the problem for most of the team.

Entirely too many posters appear by their suggestive posts to "want" the program to fail. We're 1-1, hopefully 2-1 after Saturday. Could we be 3-1 after OU, yes but we will need the ball to bounce our way a time or two. What then, will all the negative nellie's continue to call for the Urban's and Aranda's, etc...?
I want Frost and company to succeed. I want a staff that stays together. Athletes that celebrate 4, 5 years with the same coaches and players from start to finish.
I very much want Frost to succeed. The story line is too awesome. Past performance being indicative, Frost probably wont survive this season. And that is a shame.

I fully agree. It is the most annoying/admirable thing about Wisconsin and Iowa is how they squeeze every drop out of 2/3* kids and make them play like 4* talent. That is absolutely what we need but aren't getting. Fundamentals is an astute observation. We seem to be lacking in that and situational awareness most of the time.
This is the worst part about watching them play. It's also what will probably get Frost fired.

Which one of those you highlighted do you think would have the strongest chance of being successful here?
I think Doeren, Klieman, or Chadwell could be successful here. My preference would be Chadwell, Doeren, then Klieman. From the highlighted ones. I wouldn't be afraid to try and get Sitake either. I just don't think he would come here.

Nebraska wins but doesn't cover. Historically Nebraska is paid against the spread (-22).

Too many people are like, "Well Wisconsin and Iowa don't recruit all that well and they still win" -- when was the last time either of them won a championship?
From where we have been the last 5+ years, let's take some baby steps and win some games first.
Not trying to be a douche.

and yet NU never has...not sure the justification for this take, but I would agree that under reasonable coaching NU should compete for a West title every year. So far, all I see is we are a "W" on everyone else's pre-season schedule...time to change that
We're Kansas now.

I'm not saying we would get Meyer or that I even want him here, but he would be a good get. Again, if Frost can right the ship, I would rather get someone who is stable and runs an offense more conducive to the BIG. Maybe even more important would be someone who can build a defense that is consistent.

-
Early in the game he was able to push Zoronski and get close to the QB. Never had true pressure on him, but didn't do bad. As the game went on, he just wore out.
-
I don't like Meyer as a person, but as a coach I would take him. I would hope that he would leave in 2-3 years. That would minimize the trouble he would cause. But in that time he would bring the team back to the top 15 at least. The coaches that follow him (other than Florida) tend to do well also. These are win win situations.
Now if Frost can turn the ship around, that's even better. We wouldn't have to worry about all of the extraneous stuff.

Reading a lot of these and not sure anyone pointed out that it’s going to come down to wins and losses when/if he gets fired. If he wins he shows progress and keeps his job. If he loses he is gone in October and can’t believe people saying let him have the whole year even if still losing in October! What benefit would there be to retain him until end of year except a long drawn out painful death everyone knows is coming.
TA had better not screw around if the hammer needs to fall in October. There is absolute benefit to not waiting. You get first crack at the guy you want. Why wait for anything that could happen? What if you target a guy and have him but then later another job unexpectedly becomes open in college or the NFL and your guy is suddenly lost now to a competitor? Recruiting does not do well with uncertainty. You get your guy in and give recruits clarity. You also get to see how the team performs under an interim and leadership of an interim to see if you want to retain him on next staff.
I question this. Most of the coaches that everyone wants are currently coaching. we wouldn't know if "got" him until after the season (most likely bowl season as well). Even then, they could leave for someplace else if they wanted. It's happened before with some coaches. Get hired at one school, then hired by a different school, and never actually coach at the first school. I'm not saying that it happens often, but it has happened.

I'm OK with Rhule. If it is him, i kind of want him to keep some of the current staff (MJ and Busch for sure)
