  1. The trouble is, where is he going to go? There's no "better" job (read: more prestigious or set up for success) that will touch him after the last few years, and he's not going to go to a "lesser" school.

My fear is that he really wanted gone but wasn't able to go, so now he's stuck somewhere he doesn't necessarily want to be. Not the best recipe for inspiring a coach to great success. I wonder if our lackadaisical recruiting his first couple years was a symptom of this.

If he feels that way I wish he could part ways amicably, but no matter what happens, 14-0 or 5-7, it will be hostility from the detractors. I feel he enjoys it here but if things keep on the way they have I forsee an NFL Coordinator job that he "just couldnt possibly turn down."

  2. We dont wear down their Defense if were throwing 3 incompletions. Hardly enough time for our Defense to take of their helmet for a minute. Controlling the clock on offense needs to be a.bigger priority, all the while moving the chains. Not every other play HAS to be a TD.

Personally, I put a higher value on scoring but whatever floats your boat.

Hard to score on incompletions and punts. But feel feee to ignore the obvious issues.....that are fixable.

  4. When your defense is gassed, they dont have the ability to pressure the QB as much

Yeah. If only there were other players on the sidelines who could also play. We could call them substitutes. They could give the guys who just got done playing a break and they'd be fresh. I'm going to walk down the hall and see if Paps can work on this.

If we are actually utilzing subs correctly then there is a grander issue than wear and tear. Id say formation is a good place to start looking.

Were you too tired to finish the post? Perhaps you need your replies to be more in sync. ;)

Sorry, Smart/Dumb phone. Post finished now.

  6. Becks 3x pass calls are forcing our defense into contain instead of pressuring QBs. But once the D is on the field Papuchis needs to have them at least formed up right.

    :confucius

Beck is calling plays that result in too many quick drives and punts. This results in the Defense, already playing poorly, getting back on the field only minutes after they allowed a score. The mentality of these first year starters must be shaken by this. Papuchis and Beck need to work together to find a rythym they can both be happy about.

What does that have to do with playing contain vs. pressuring QBs?

  7. Start the senior, get a comfortable lead and give the raines to TA. A win this week goes further than TA playing one more drive at the start of the game. I want to see them both play. One needs it the others earned it.

  9. We don't need to keep them guessing. We need to put in Tommy and give him a game to show what he's got. TA for the entire game, except maybe garbage time, if it gets there.

And what if hes not ready? Im all for giving the kid quality reps but I like the senior to manage the game and give us a W we desperately need.

  10. I lost all respect I had for Tommie when he tweeted what he did. This university gave him what he has today, and he thinks he can tweet calling for peoples jobs? Sorry but thats just plain disrespectful to the university and most of all the fans, his comments are no better than anyones at this point.

I totally agree. I can get on twitter and rant after a belly full of booze 4 hours after a game too. It would be interesting to see the reaction if Tommie came to the middle of the field this weekend. I have a feeling it wouldn't be nearly the applause and cheers that Bo will get when he is shown on Husker Vision before the game Saturday!

Thats an interesting questio7n. Not that is in any way relevant, but Bo or Tommy, who would the fans show more support and love for right now?

I say they both put away their egos and meet midfield for a pre game handshake to get the fans united again.

  11. Gimme RK3 to start. Then alrternate to keep them guessing. Defense is their weakness, so attack it with both and keep them on the field as much as possible. Give TA the start in 2nd half to prep him a bit, but dont get fancy and cough it up. This SDSU offense is hungry.

  12. I took a few days off the board to gather my feelings. I wish Tommie would have done the same. Throwing gas on the fire was not a smart move on his part but whats done is done. Why did he say it though? Maybe Im late pointing this out, probably am, but could his disdain for the current regime be because of Brion Carnes not getting the chance Tommie felt he deserved. The UCLA game just pushed him into making his thoughts public. Thoughts?

  13. Hey, Husker fans. I'm both an avid Jacks and Huskers fan so will give you my $.02 on the Jackrabbits. They are the only team I would wear anything but red for in Lincoln. The Jacks are a fundamentally sound football team. The offense is our strength. Great rushing attack mixed with a lot of play action. Solid O-line creates great holes for Zach Zenner. He's the real deal. Quarterback is a solid player and has adequate receivers. Our defense is young but playing well. The D-line and LB's are solid. Weak link is D-Backs but last week they had four picks. Have struggled to get pressure on the quarterback. Solid special teams play and a very good PK. The Jacks played N to 17-3 game three years ago. This Jackrabbit team is a lot better than that team. I know it sounds clichéd but they are coming to Lincoln to win the game. They are looking for a signature win to elevate the program. Big Red needs to be ready to play. Will they be? Isn't that the million dollar question. As a season ticket-holder for both, this is an exciting week. It's a big stage for SDSU. Yeah, and we're getting a much needed check. If the Huskers rally around the coach then I expect a fairly easy win for them. Bring the B or C game then watch out. Pelini was very complimentary of SDSU a few years ago. No way he is sleeping through this one. Should be interesting. My inner Husker is hurting but my inner Jackrabbit smells blood in the water and can't wait for the opportunity. Nothing like a game in Lincoln! See you Friday night! SUPERBUNNY

Good luck to both your teams.

  14. I would prefer to beat Texas, but since beating Texas is impossible for Nebraska, I would prefer to play Oklahoma.

Not impossible. There is a magic spell that must be broken but to crack it you will have to go on a quest to the lair of evil sorcerer Daniel Beebezelboss.
