  1. Is this guy crazy, or what? Everyone knows you don't use an extension cord on a welder!!!! nice.
  2. Too much risk, not enough reward. Think about how many "can't miss" recruits turn out to be duds. Think of how many get hurt, homesick, or can't cut the academics. This kid may very well be a world-beater, but the odds are too high that something will happen and we'd be left high-and-dry. Good points. not to mention the fact that he has only "verbally" committed. So Beck is expecting NU to give him a firm committment (b/c its not like we would back out), and then his commit is only this flaky "gentlemans" agreement that he wont back out. So not only could he bomb once he gets to NU, but he may not even GET to NU before we are left holding our mouths trying to scramble in MARCH to find a QB for the class of 2005... oh yeah kinda like we did last year!!! Forget this crap. Callahan has to be smarter than this... maybe he has somethin else workin on the side... contingency plan perhaps??? hope so.
  3. sorry, just got one of those feelings bout this one.. NU 26 TTech 37 Rush 222 Pass 133
  4. Interesting concept, and IMO a valid one. This happens in all sports - just look at the NFL - teams can get beat by ANY other team ANY week - why? well mainly b/c they are overpriviliged pretentious spoiled POS's - which causes them to be easily unmotivated, and drop their game from week to week. I dont think our guys are quite there yet... but if they do Callahan will just have to drop the "we have to be the stupidest team in America" line...that will get them back in line!!
  5. Agreed. How the hell coud we expect to use laws and rules written eons ago by some goofy old nearsighted white guys wearing wigs? Much of the constitution is archaic and people who think its the end all be all I hate to say are ignorant.
  6. It concerns me when we put all our chips in the corner of a "verbal" committment. Not to mention the "dukes effect" like Benard alluded to. Why the flip would we want to put everything on an UNPROVEN commodity is beyond me. And to me this kid is a bit soft by whining that " I'll go somewhere else if they want another QB"..... get over yourself. This aint the Freakin Bachelor. This is a BUSINESS,and last I checked NFL teams maintain at least 3 QBs at all times. does it sound like this kid is scared of competition to anyone else?
  7. Wow. This guy sounds like the real deal... exactly the mold we need to make our passing game successful. And doesnt it seem like Callahan and the WCO are already even having an impact on recruiting for OTHER sports as well....? Just a thought.
  8. I agree with the Ahman Green mention. I played HS ball against this guy, and he if you recall he just made everyone on the field look like Pop Warner players. Just another level all together.. and Im not sure there has been one in Nebraska since. I think the main reason he didnt get all that much hype was b/c he was pretty committed to NU from the beginning, so not many other big name schools pursued him. Had he gone through all the motions, on all the trips etc, his hype wouldve been through the roof. OR consider if he was from Florida...? then would he have been an even bigger recruit?? Guess it depends on the point of this thread... are we judging recruits who had the most impact on the team - or biggest "steals" - as in damn we snatched Tommie from the depths of Florida.. or Neil Smith outta New Orleans... or Will Shields from OK...
  9. So is the 4.67 40 time inaccurate? If not, isnt that good enough for a D1 Pocket QB? I would think so. .. but he must just not have those quix.
  10. Comeon if you want us to move on so bad then stop bringing it up. I think we all know the majority of fans really loved his tenacity on the field. I think someone else mentioned that he was a fan favorite, and another person disputed that - but I think its safe to say that he was certainly a fan favorite when he was in his element. Nebraska fans love hard working players more than any others b/c Nebraska people embody a hard working class. But with his repeated off field AND on field shennagains I dont think you can dispute that he was more of a cancer than anything. So he is what he is and we can accept that. That is how I feel, so if you dont want a converstaoin about it let it go yourself. or else I'lll sick Richie on ya.. There I feel better.
  11. No joke. And now tonight they just lost C Garner. Man that team is in shambles. Goes to show you how quick you can fall in all sports. I remember when we had our dynasty going I really felt like we could not and would not ever lose.
  12. Glad to hear it ksumom, and welcome aboard! Good luck finding tickets, we need as much of Husker Nation down there as possible!! I'll let you know if I come across any tix.

  19. Very nice. I like to talk about the skers anyway so if Im gonna do it anywhere it might as well be here & get paid for it!!
  20. Thanks for sharing that. Im really into baseball but live out of state now, so its hard to keep up b/c college bball gets no love. I hope to see more discussion about hardball this coming season.
  21. I can see that. RI doesnt seem like he handles punihsment very welll - and the apple doesnt fall very far - so Im sure his father was offended by the whole deal as well. And no, IMO if he verbally attacked a coach I dont think thats ground for immediate dismissal. This happens mor than we even know, and wouldnt merit expulsion every time. if so there would be very few players remaining. also I dont think Callahan was trying to set an example - rather save his ass from public criticism. He knew 'cog was a fan favorite and if he kicked him right off there would be an outcry - espcially if we went in the crapper as a result. He probably figured suspending him indefinitely was a good middle ground, and knew 'cog would most likely leave anyway. So it was self fulfilling type of move for Callahan IMO.
  22. This is what I read in STVs story. You keep referring to him "attacking" CAllahan like he took a swing. With his hot head reputation how is a "verbal" attack all that unbelievable? Players go off on coaches all the time when theyre all fired up.
  23. Im not so sure that story is as absurb as we would LIKE to think. Lets be logical here, a bluechip guy doesnt get dismissed for minor infractions. He obviously not only crossed the line with BC, he snorted it. Losing the 'cog greately compromises our chances for success this year - as well as BC's AND Stevie Ps, which all go hand in hand. So if you think for a new jack second that Richie didnt damn near have to have sex with everyone on the coaching staffs wives to get booted you need to get your hedz checked. Obvsiouly Im exagerrating here, but to me Husker-stv's story is not all that unbelievable. You saying its far-fetched is exactly what makes it more likely to be true. Why? B/c my point is that it would take something "unbelievable" to get him ousted - plus the story is a damn near carbon copy of all his previous BS which STV listed above, which were ALL well documented. I admit I wasnt a witness to all these "alleged" events either, but guess what either were you. So you know what, the shoe fits, so IMO you saying the story is absurb is the most absurb thing of all. The details may be a bit off, but Im sure the basics are right on.
