So whose message board do we trust.  The one that says its Rhule or the one that says its Leipold?

    Desmond Howard says Rhule.

I think coaches can now be more famous for being fired than their actual accomplishments.

With his record, Leipold appears to be a guy who can get a program to the 6-8 game win range. After a few years....Not sure fans have the patience for that.  Unsure his name moves the needle to really get recruits or transfers in ASAP.  I am also humbled that we might be taking the coach of what I thought was the shining example of the crappiest P5 team...  Maybe that's us now.

If we were going that route, I'd much prefer Klieman tbh.  By a lot.

I'd take Kleiman too, but from what I understand he wants to keep working for the K-State AD who he worked with in Dakota.

Kleiman is also friends with Frost and thinks K-State is the better situation.

I'm with ya.  Two games will not improve any current staff members chances of getting hired.  If the HC is already known, I am pretty confident that some staff members are as well. ie if MJ, BB or any others will be retained.  If It's Aranda, they are not playing for the Big 12 Championship.  At a minimum could sya a HC has been chosen, out of respect we won't mention until yada yada yada.  If MJ is retained, could possibly mention that to keep the fan base calm...

Only reasons it hasn't been announced is

    1) new HC has requested it not be until all possible games are over (IMHO, this hurts as transfer portal opens Dec 5 IIRC).  If said HC is playing in a bowl, it might be well after that and we might miss giys or lose guys we could other wise get/keep.  Also contact period starts 11/28-12/17 IIRC.  Means we miss out on that as well.

    2) We do not have one locked in yet.

    3) New HC wants to wait until the end of the regular season.  Would be able to recruit and work the portal to add/keep guys.

If it's Aranda I already don't feel good about the next few seasons.

Yeah, no problem.  I do agree with a lot of people who say that say Trev is going to be a short-term AD.  I was surprised he actually took the NU AD job in the first place, as he was probably close to retiring from Omaha and moving out to South Carolina, where they already have a huge beach house built.

Never hurts to add a few easy $ million to the bank account first.

Ya how many games did he win ? As head coach you take ownership of all 3 phases of the game right?

If by he you are referring to Frost, he won 16 games at Nebraska.

I thought that was common knowledge?  Odd question.

My point is that a hot name doesn't guarantee anything.    Chadwell at least has some yearof experience behind him as a HC.  Leipold at Kansas proved himself at the G5 level. He is doing great at Kansas.   How did Frost make the B1G adjust to his scheme?  He didn't.  The B1G was much different than what he was use to.

I mean.....if you don't actually know the offensive rankings in the B1G under Frost might as well just use the misquote.....

  7. 9 minutes ago, TGHusker said:

Yes, seems like we tried that route before - hiring the hottest name on the board.   Let's get a guy who has proven himself on the P5 level or a guy like Chadwell who is a can't miss future P5 coach.

How is Chadwell a "can't miss"?

You have literally zero proof he could assemble a B1G worthy offensive line.

Chadwell might have a good scheme, but Frost's scheme itself was pretty damn good.

    I agree.

Just based on their own resume, I think Leipold and Klieman would be my top choices.  But it sounds like Klieman is unlikely to leave.  Leipold has done an amazing job everywhere he's been.  And maybe he'd even keep the guys I listed above as well.  I would not have any issue if he is the choice.

Yeah, Kleiman is working for the same AD at K-State who named him HC at NDSU.

Mickey has (next to) no head coaching experience. He's never built a team from the ground up, and he's never had sustained success at the P5 level.

We are not hiring Mickey unless everyone else turns us and our huge bags of cash down.

I just hope our huge bags of cash can pull away a highly successful coach from another university like USC did versus something like a fired NFL coach with little major conference experience.

Three over a two year period… takes 5 solid, plus one (Cam) was like AM, half of the board hated….as others who actually know fb, realized he was nfl caliber. Yes, Allen was stud, but AM got him the ball, mostly on scrambles. AM rarely got to set his feet, and that is pretty much fact, not opinion. That is not good line play, regardless of how many move on.

My bad....I forgot if Huskerboard hates them they aren't good.

We were ranked higher on offense ONLY because Adrian ( whom some couldn’t wait to see leave, smh) carried our a$$ in spite of a horrible line and no running game. Nothing to do with coaching or play calling

Yet 3 of those OL went to the NFL in '21 and '22 and Austin Allen was all conference.

Here's a reality check.  What if Trev has "asked" other guys to be HC and we are left with the alleged list of Monken, Rhule, MJ or Patterson.  Maybe all of the others on the list gave a no or not interested......We will never know, but a lot of names appear to be non factors now.

It's been reported that at least 3 coaches have said they are staying where they are.

The difference between a fan and a booster just so happens to be $7.5 million.

    Ish.

The point I was making though was some want to move on from the 90s, which is not going to happen with a 90s Husker leading the athletic department and Tom still influential.

And that will be true whether Joseph loses the interim title or goes elsewhere.

I remember you assuring us that Moos/Trev and Frost had everything under control and not to worry our purty little heads.

Fans still buy tickets and swag and donate millions to fire coaches three weeks quicker, so it's sometimes prudent to care what fans think.

I guess I missed that $7.5 million gofundme campaign.

And, according to ColoradoHusk, it apparently is what the fans want anyway.....or many fans, or a majority of the fans pr whatever.

  15. 1 minute ago, ColoradoHusk said:

This is exactly what I have been hoping for, as soon as Frost was fired.  I was ready for a fresh start and moving forward with the rebuild of the program.  Unfortunately, too many fans think that a tie to the past is what's needed to "move forward", which doesn't make any sense.

Well.....the athletic director is a former player and Tom talks regularly with both he and Joseph.....so I'm not sure you need to worry about what the fans think.

Well Patterson has had the most P5 success of these 3 guys and won many bowl games including the Rose Bowl and Peach Bowl.

Patterson is in his early 60s so it wouldn't be a long term hire if that happened.....the good news is Jerry Kill would likely join him in some role.
