  1. I do think that one year was a bit abrupt to wack a coach, one year removed from the big bowl, b/c a lot can go wrong in one season that is out of a coach's hands - injuries, contract probs etc. And of course Alice Davis is a crazy old lady, so this doesnt mean BC was the whole problem. Although he did have some massive breakdowns, and couldnt control the team for sh*t, but yes the NFL is a different world. might be worth the risk.
  2. Yep thats right, but was it really HIS team?
  3. Not that it should have been a competitive game, but still good to see us playing consistent ball. NU 93 St Francis (PA) 49 FYI, Pittsburgh (ranked #15) beat this same team 90 - 69 http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/boxscore?gid...id=200401060400
  4. Wanted to start a seperate topic to discuss this Callahan rumor Nzone shared with us: More from Eric the Red: Do we really want an NFL wash out? Obviously he has some talent, or he wouldnt have gotten to where he was, but there have been plent of horrible coaches in the NFL before. He SHOULD be seriously interested. Not sure he will get another head coach opp in the nfl again for quite a while based on his meltdowns last season w/the Raiders. Likewise a high profile college position would be great for him to rebound and regain some pride and glory. So with that in mind, dont you think his ultimate goal is still the NFL? If he is successful and gets another offer from the ferris wheel NFL coaching circuit, he'd probably take it.. Anyone know much about this guy? Would his style be a good fit?
  5. Looks like the Alamo bowl review. They'll put up a replay link later: http://netdb.unl.edu/bigredwrapup/
  6. Just when I think youre becoming even more of a closet Husker than ever, you make a wildcat brained comment like that. We're discussing the QBs under Gills tutelage, but thanks for trying.
  7. Interesting. I wonder how he came across this name? Man it just really seems like this process is completely helter skelter. Probably isnt, b/c SP is allegedly extremely detailed and always prepared, but that sure is the way it seems. And that is all his fault.
  8. Any other Husker transplants in the KC area?

    Bo Pelini

No sh*t? Thats pretty bizarre.. I know he is tight w/the Stoops fam, but to be on the sidelines is a bit much. Means he's been involved with the program lately.. hmmm. I bet SP isnt real thrilled with that.
  11. Interesting. Did you get his name? Man you need to improve your recruiting skills WyomingHusker!! You'd be fired if SP had anything to say about it! So you went to the A-Bowl huh? Is SA a fun city? What were our fans like, MSU fans? Have you been to other bowls - how did it compare? Blackshirt
  12. OU is the obvious pick, but this has all the makings of another Ohio State Miami battle ala last year's Fiesta Bowl. Im definitely rooting for the Spooners though, but am a bit worried. Saban is a great coach. We need this win for the sake of the Big 12, who up to this point has looked pathetic overall.
  13. What do you guys think? Man Indy just ruined Denver!! Laughable. Makes me a bit worried being a Chiefs fan, since Denver manhandled KC also. But then again I dont believe there is a transitive property in football, so just b/c Denver got worked, and they worked KC, doesnt mean Indy will work KC next weekend. Okay, Im dizzy now. Need.......... beer..... I'd like to see the Chiefs v. the Rams in the big bowl, but my gut says the Titans v. the Panthers. The teams remaining are: Carolina - StLouis GB - Philly Tenn - New England Indy - KC
  14. Did anyone get a chance to watch this game yesterday? How did Keenan and our other commits look?
  15. I'd have to say that Im in the camp of not being convinced that Bo is the guy. I just think that most of Husker nation got sucked into the "Bo phenomenon", and it just snowballed from there. Yes Bo is an engaging, exciting and inspired coach. Yes he PROBABLY has the tools to get it done and be a great coach, someday. But Im with Husker21, why do we have to take a chance on an unproven head coach? Just b/c Bo has been with the program for a year now, and the players have attached themselves to him, and he is a Stoops protege, and Jim Tressel knows him - these should not validate him as a head coach. I think most of us are looking for a "comfortable" move, b/c we are so used to promoting from within, and right now Bo seems the closest and best from within, b/c of this positive press he has received. Dont be manipulated by the media. And dont think Bo wouldnt bolt if a better offer came along, in the NFL etc. I know this is hearsay, but Ive heard from multiple sources that Bo has made it clear to SP that he would want an "out clause" in his contract, allowing him to leave along the way if he desired. As well as him indicating that he may not be back as DC if doesnt get the gig........ all these are signs of someone who is flighty, and maybe even a bit hedonistic, in that he appears to be someone who is all about "what will promote Bo" the fastest to the top, rather than taking one for the team, and putting in his time for the sake of the program. But then again Im not unrealistic to think that even if we did land a big name "proven" head coach, that he wouldnt be the same way. Fact is this is a new era. Gone is the era of coaches patronage for the team simply b/c they have roots deeper than Dee Sniders weave. So I guess we just have to take a calculated risk, and hope the new coaches name doesnt rhyme with Pooheisel.
  16. WyHus you almost made me lose my dinner! Neuheisel!? AHHHHHHHH.... NOT funny. Grab another pint and try again! Hey Dave, just so you know I heard someone say today that they heard you say something to someone else yesterday when they were talking to you on the phone with that guy from the bar down the street from the place Pederson used to get his haircut when he lived in North Platte. Can you qualify or disqualify these accusations???????? If not we're in luck b/c I think I have this whole thing figured out!!! Blackshirt
  17. Thanks for the synopsis Eric. My opinion, on one hand I find it hard to believe that he would just roll down to ARK with a bucket full of $$, and matching luggage with red 'N's on them, and expect Nutt to come home and start coaching. Especially when this seemed to come out of left field. I just find it more believable that he truly was just "interviewing" him, and hoping to bring him back to Lincoln to show old Harvey what he found. On the other hand, I wouldnt put it past SP to just expect Nutt to drop his family and gig, and start work on Monday. Plus w/ all of the stories which corroborate the monetary offer, and Nutts comments where he said "he didnt actually offer me the position, but Im protecting him also", I have to feel that SP made it pretty clear that if he came back to Lincoln he would have the job. Overall, SP appears to have botched this one up just the same. Maybe he didnt do too much wrong, but once again he lost in the eye of Public Opinion and the media - and you know how perception can dictate reality. Man this guy just seems so naive for being an AD of a major program, and being an alleged "mastermind". Must've skipped his PR class in college. Where did he go to school anyway?
  18. Yes, thanks AR Husker Fan, that is interesting - even though it is now moot. Still good info nonetheless.
  19. No problem LSUNizz, glad to get your insight. As long as you remember the adage of throwing stones from your glass house, you'll be fine. Just hope you dont have a glass jaw, b/c we have some heavy swingers around here. I actually agree w/you. Not sure the Nutt is what we need anyway. It appears that SP is kneejerking himself and Nuskernation all around the country. It seems as if he hasnt been doing an f-n thing for the past month, and now when the seat gets hot he starts throwing zeros behind offers to people based on "referrals" from low class NFL coaches. Reminds me of my college days when I procrastinated for a paper and then scrambled around w/ my head cut off to "just get it done". Personally I do like Chow, and even think Spurr could bring some good things to the program. Isnt my favorite personality, but we may just be surprised what he could do. However I think its safe to say Spur it out of the running for sure now. This is getting ugly.....
  20. Are you feeling okay WyomingHusker? Still a little wobbly from last night maybe? What can NU offer him that Ark cant? I dont know where to start. Yes money would be number 1, tradition number 2, a better conference 3, etc etc etc. If The Nutt knows whats good for him, he will be in Lincoln by Monday. Not sure what qualities he has that Solich Gill or Bo do not. He said he was looking for someone w/better leadership ability. He must come off well to SP. Confidence and experience are key. Neither Bo or Frank possessed both.
  21. I agree. Thanks Kyle for all your hard work, and representing NU the right way. Im sure you'll do the same for years to come in the NFL. Good luck.
  22. I think Saunders is in his 50's. His daughter went to NU and played soccer a couple years ago. I do like Chow. Dont think he is too old to get things back to glory either. He probaby has 15+ yrs left in his coaching shelf life.
  23. Had we even offered this kid anything? I had heard he was worthless anyway. Kinda like Rich Rodriguez and others "not interested" in the NU job. Right... or possibly it's the other way around..
  24. Now on to the important stuff. My thoughts on SP's recruiting strategery, and it's an interesting strategy at that, and I must say a pretty wise one. No need to attempt to bamboozle recruits - telling them to wait until we have a HC is the right move, and an attempt to regain some of that Ntegrity we have been so renowned for. Many schools wouldve just said "sure sign with us, we'll take care of the coaching situation, dont worry about it." But SP is saying, Im confident enough to risk losing you, b/c I know you'll be so convinced w/out a doubt once you see the stud I landed. This is a great sign of confidence, and I think the recruits got the message. It really feels as if SP is going to drop the shocker on us when we least expect it, and all we'll be able to do is grin like a sophomore the morning after her first prom. Here's to Steve The Shocker Pederson gettin er dun!!! Blackshirt
  25. Awww, you guys do care!!! And I was beginning to think you were out of original material!! But of course you prove me wrong again, taco tickler?! Too much.
