  1. Dear HuskerBoard family, After 16 years of running HuskerBoard, it's time to turn the page. Jump to the last few sentences to find out where HB goes from here. Continue reading for my full "best man" wedding speech. I started HuskerBoard a few years after graduating from UNL in 2003, b/c I was a Husker zealot looking for someone to talk Husker football with while living in KC. I began by creating various profiles and having conversations with myself ... Shortly after, I convinced my old college buddy Eric, to join the schizophrenic conversation. We goofed around, shared our idiotic commentary with our multiple personalities, and our old school version of memes. Suddenly, people started showing up. Actual, real, not voices in our heads people - like you guys. Some of you even became our friends, and some lifelong friends - b/c of a crazy little place where adults click buttons and type things about sports stuff. Today, HuskerBoard stands strong at nearly 12K members and counting. The largest 100% FREE Husker forum on the web. With easily the most respectful and intelligent members and moderators. I'm extremely proud of what HuskerBoard has become. And it most certainly wouldn't still be here without MANY amazing contributors over the years. Too long to list them all, so to avoid missing someone I won't even start. You know who you are, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. And of course you incredible SOB members that are just as nutty about the Huskers as us. And some who may actually be clinically insane, you added a nice dash of color and entertainment to the board. It's been an honor being the Lord of the Flies; although some of you don't even know WHOTF I am, as I've been behind the scenes the past several years. I had to put my Husker addiction on the back-burner when I had my first daughter 7 years ago. I now have 3 kids, and my time is being stretched more everyday. I recently decided it was time to pass the torch. To someone I knew would maintain our values, and keep the HB spirit of ethics alive. David Max, the longtime owner of HuskerPedia and now HuskerMax will be taking over the board effective tomorrow August 27. I know the board will be in good hands, as David is a solid human being and amazing Husker fan. He vowed to maintain the board as a FREE forum, and will surely take it to even better places than I've had time for lately. And special thanks to Mavric for leading the crew so expertly the past few years. Mavric is the man, and is planning to continue onward & upward with HB. So please follow his lead and continue building HuskerBoard into the best Husker forum on the web. Thanks again to all, and GBR!! ~Mic drop~ Chad aka Blackshirt P.S. - David will make an announcement soon about his upcoming plans for the board, including an invitation to his Tailgate Party this Saturday!
  2. We apologize for the issue. SMTP relay issue upstream. Has been resolved, but please keep me posted if it returns. Email: chad at huskerboard.com Thanks.

  4. UPDATE on this story... I posted this on Facebook a while back but realized I forgot to post here.. I used the money raised ($200) added some of my own and bought his family 4 tickets to the Nebraska - Iowa Game. My friend knows Aaron Graham, who also hooked him up with an autographed SI from 1997! Here's a video of him finding out about the game... Thanks again for everyone's support - it's awesome what we can do when we come together!
  5. Thanks SO much for everyone who has pitched in so far! Here's an awesome NEW story about Sebastiano you should check-out. You're more than welcome to donate directly to his parents fundraiser page, or of course through our Donorbox page which will also go directly to his family. It will be cool to present the family with a lump sum donation on behalf of everyone from the board. If we get enough, and everyone agrees, perhaps we'll offer to buy the family tickets to the Nebraska Iowa game! Thanks for paying it forward Husker Nation! Chad
  6. Hey Huskerboard family. I don't post much these days - I'm a founder of the board - and now just manage behind the scenes ops. I have a connection to a little boy in Council Bluffs named Sebastiano battling Leukemia. He's a tough little kiddo and comes from a great family. But the medical bills are piling up and they really need help. As a Dad of 2 kids I can't even begin to imagine the heartbreak of watching one of my kids go through this miserable experience. Instead of running around with friends he has to deal with the reality of excruciating pain, heartbreak, and an endless road of chemo & hospital visits ahead of him. As a family with kids you already have limited funds, but dealing with a MAJOR unexpected cost like this becomes a massive burden, completely re-arranging your available funds for things like vacation, or even going out to the movies or dinner. Here's what I'm willing to do to help Sebastiano. For the entire month of September, I will donate 100% of all donations that come through our donorbox account. (I'm also personally donating money from my own pocket). Here's Sebastiano's story on his Facebook page. You can make a donation through our Huskerboard Donorbox Page Here, and be assured that 100% of everything you give will go directly to Sebastiano's family. Thanks for doing whatever you can to help! I know Husker Nation has a huge heart, so when a close friend asked if there was anything I could do I knew exactly where I could turn. https://donorbox.org/huskerboard-fall-2017-fundraiser-keep-the-board-you-love-free Chad

  8. Big thanks to all who have donated so far! It really does make a difference.

Requirements: Located in Omaha and / or Lincoln Ambitious Sales experience Excellent communication skills Good relationship builder Compensation: 25% commissions on all new accounts, for entire 1st year of account. 12. Let's get a sense of the overall opinion going on here..
  13. Look, we all realize Bo likes to use the fug word, I'm sure it was mentioned a couple dozen times during his first born's baptism. I don't think it offends most ppl, and we all know coaches will be coaches and most don't love the media. Unfortunately when something flies into a deadspin with the velocity of a piece of gum from Bo's mouth, it aint slowing down anytime soon. Be prepared for this to reach all of the nooks & crannies of Husker Nation. This will become the topic of conversation for quite a while - b/c there just isn't much better to talk about right now. The result - every Husker fan on the planet will hear about this eventually. Many will shrug it off, but I have a feeling many will not. Regardless of when this was uttered or whether he said these words in the grips of intense labor pains, Bo was not intoxicated and knew exactly what he was saying. I don't see Husker fans forgetting this. Husker fans want their leader to love being a Husker as much or more than they do. And here are 2 of the things Husker fans want the very least from their humble leader: 1) A person who belittles them and doesn't respect the tradition of "the Husker fan" - considering the sellout streak no other program compares to, it's tough to question this. 2) A person who alludes to riding off on his high horse with double barrel middle fingers blazing. Not that I agree, but short of a Big 10 championship birth & very competitive game vs OSU, I don't see Mr. Bo outshining these images come judgement day at season's end. Good luck sir.
  14. Ok thanks guys! Your offers of .02 cents & $5 dollars are making this a tough decision. I understand you're just trying to be helpful Huskers, but just for the record here is my $5.02. Yes donations are tax deductible, but last time I checked the IRS is pretty greedy and only returns about 20% of deductions. If you're getting back $1 for $1 I'd like the name of your CPA... on second thought maybe not. You also have to realize that donations are variable. Just because the minimum shows $150 doesn't mean everyone donated the same amount. Higher contributions were made years ago to retain seats and in hopes of an upgrade. Many ppl have continued to donate a higher value for this reason. No it's not practical to expect to regain every penny of your donation amount, and that isn't the case in this situation. Remember, it was a starting price.. "or best offer". With that said, since there were no serious offers he's willing to drop the price to $1,250. Let us know if interested. Thanks.
  15. My brother is selling 2 of his season tickets for the upcoming 2013 football season. Section 32 Row 92 Seats are side by side 16 TOTAL Tickets Games: Wyomng Southern Miss UCLA South Dakota St Illinois Northwestern Michigan St Iowa Asking $1,500 for the pair OBO. This is pretty much what he paid for them with the required donation, so it's a fair price. Please email offers to fivealarmfire@hotmail.com or post in here. Includes Priority mail shipping. Best offer received by Monday August 12 will get them. Thanks.
  16. Our store just released some new shirts for TO. Pretty solid shirts.. check em out. http://www.huskernation.com/store/Search.aspx?searchTerms=Coach+Osborne+T-Shirt&submit=true
  17. The mods & founders of Huskerboard have created a little program, which should be good for everyone involved. It's pretty cool really. We've hooked up with a Husker gear outfitter (huskernation), and ticket company (tickethippo), and negotiated some pretty great discounts for everyone. It's essentially a "buyers club / donation program" for the board. You chip in a donation, we hook you up with killer discounts on the stuff you would buy anyway. This costs us initially, but if enough join it will kick us some much needed revenue to help pay the board bills. It's also a great way to give back to the members who make this thing go. So check it out, and let us know what you think. Thanks for the support. http://www.huskerboa...oard-donors.htm
  18. Ok good news, the coupon code is below. huskerboard12 Just enter this during check-out in the "Discount Code: " field. This will get you 10% off all tickets. This will be a temporary discount. I'm working on another program called the "HuskerBoard Donors Team", to get you guys discounts on gear from Huskernation.com and also better discounts on tickets. So for those looking to buy tickets, use the coupon code above soon b/c within about a week you will need to donate to receive the discount -- but the good news is you will also get better prices on gear. And for those already interested in these higher discounts, here's a preview: you will have the option to donate $150 / year to the board, which will get you 15% off all tickets from tickethippo & gear from huskernation. If someone would rather just buy in now to get the bigger discount, let me know and I can send you a paypal donation link and get you the 15% code right away. Thanks for everyone's support. Buying tickets & gear keeps the lights on around here - truly. Chad
  19. Hey guys - I'm working on this discount. I should have a coupon code for everyone to use by tomorrow. It should be in the range of about 10% off.
  20. 1 week left for this contest! We'd love to see some more entries. A mod's entries will not receive any special treatment. But just to make it seem more fair, we'll open it up to a member vote to make the final decision. Thanks for participating.
  21. Take a look.. http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/59668-huskernationcom-design-contest-50-for-the-winner/
  22. CONTEST ENTRIES 1. huskeraddict 2. JTrain 3. Husker37 4. we.are.husker.nation -ORIGINAL CONTEST INFO- For those graphically inclined, take a look. HuskerNation.com was re-designed, but the header/logo was not. It could use an updated look. **The winner takes home a $50 Huskernation.com gift certificate** The mods & I will judge the competition. Here are some tips on what we're looking for: -Simple / clean -No flaming letters or dancing rabbits -White bg would probably be best -Incorporating Husker images would be a nice touch, but not overboard -The slogan "husker gear superstore" is not required - making up your own clever slogan may help your case There is no limit on the # of entries. The contest will end on July 31 at midnight. Post your images in this thread, or email to admin@huskerboard.com -- but also post in this thread that you sent an email. Thanks for participating. Chad
  23. Thanks for sharing this. Very sad indeed. I graduated from Bell East with Ryan. He was exactly as Nebfansker described him. I'll remember him for many other reasons, but to give him some football cred - he was the most sure-handed tackler on the team. One of those guys who had he happened to be 3 inches taller would likely have gone D1 and dominated. Ryan was truly "one of the good ones", and I won't forget him. Thanks for your sacrifice Ryan, and also to your family.
  24. Thanks for your donation huskered17! The total should be updated shortly. Sorry for the delay - I was occupied with wedding stuff. I'm mailing a check to the family this week - if anyone else wants to kindly make a donation I know they would appreciate it for the holidays. Thanks again to everyone who has donated - sincerely appreciated.
