  1. I'm not one of the fans that is happy for old foes. Really, the only team I follow in the B12 is OU as for the SEC, I won't be rooting for Missouri or A&M. But am annoyed by their recent success while it seems we are a punching bag for the media. Just watching their games and old 90's footage is enough to PO someone like me that fueled this thread. Obviously, winning out this year and possibly the B1G pretty much solves everything and will silence the critics.
  2. Last year we were very fortunate to win out with a few breaks & calls here and there. This year, we need to deserve all the W's. No gimmie's. I do think we drop a game either to Michigan or Penn State, though. 7-1 in the B1G should be enough to get to Indy. I would love nothing more than to see us spoil an undefeated season for Urban Meyer and tOSU so I can stop hearing about it.
  3. Helu is my all-time favorite Husker. Hard worker, I think as a recruit he was knocked for not having explosive speed. His career silenced the critics and that Missouri game was out of this world. I always follow Roy's progress w/ the Skins!
  4. We will probably end up running the table again even with a single loss to either @ Michigan or @ Penn St. I don't know why anyone fears tOSU. They just don't look dominant to me. They find ways to win, though, and that's great. But no one is going to bat 1.000 in clutch time. Eventually, mistakes bite you in the ass. Our game with them last year was pretty scary. If we run the table in our division, I kind of don't want us to play tOSU. I'd rather play Wisconsin again and get revenge for last year.
  5. Wait a second. You're not comparing the Bama defense to the '13 Huskers, are you? Because I don't there is any rational Husker fan who thinks we'd stack up with Bama. Not even close. lol I believe the point of this conversation is that the SEC is not as dominant as ESPN would have us believe. Sure, Bama is a great team. But the rest of the conference is pedestrian at best. Outside of Bama, the rest of the SEC really isn't any better than two or three other conferences. Based on what? The conference itself is tearing itself apart. Heck, Vanderbilt could probably beat everyone except us and Ohio State
  6. HuskerNationNick, I'm not even going to bother quoting your posts if they are going to be personal & childish attacks.
  7. Has Bama played anyone yet with a pulse? EXACTLY!!!! This troll obviously is trying to slurp on the SEC c$%k some more. I stated they haven't played anyone worthy, besides A&M. 68 points allowed, while 42 came from one team. What a "great" defense. Auburn kept them to 41, so does that mean that they are the second best defense in the nation? Red is Power, I think you forgot to wipe something on your chin. I'd take their defense over our defense any day of the week. Ah the ignorance...
  8. ? I have an opinion just like every other Husker fan just because I'm not some homer sunshine pumper doesn't mean I am a troll. I have high standards for this team and with that, I expect to see great results. I think this here we are having good friendly discussions and it is a good way to see where people stand as fans against old foes of today.
  9. Sure, SEC is the best conf if you only look at the top team. Perhaps the top two. Bob Stoops had it right earlier this summer. Outside of Bama and maybe LSU, the SEC just isn't that strong. That should be evident by Mizzou and aTm's new found success. (Well, aTm until today. lol) But until some team kicks Bama to the curb espn will keep right on spunk slurping the SEC. Because that's what they do. Eliminate LSU out of that, as they just lost. Now you have only one team. Like my comment states above, if Alabama was to face a tougher schedule, their road wouldn't be so easy to the MNC. Hell, even their non conference games are cupcake. Alabama has had a tougher schedule at this point vs. 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers. Excuses. Not to mention Alabama is in a tougher conference and have more games. If they win out and win a 3rd straight natty, they will remove that greatest team ever title from the 95 Huskers. Let's hope that doesn't happen for the sake of our program since we depend so much on our legacy.
  10. Sort of like how we didn't win our conference and didn't belong in the 02 Rose Bowl vs. Miami. So yeah, we'll blame the media excuses excuses. Yeah, sort of like 2002. Almost any Nebraska fan could tell you that we didn't deserve to be in the MNC game. It was a fluke of scheduling and the BCS calculations. But at least the media wasn't fawning all over us in 2002 like they do to Alabama and pretty much all other SEC schools. This is like you are politely crying over the past. Of course nobody was crazy about us back then cause we got our butts whupped by CU 62-36. Remember? All the other SEC schools that played in an NC the past 7 years that lost a game didn't have a loss quite like 62-36.
  11. Sort of like how we didn't win our conference and didn't belong in the 02 Rose Bowl vs. Miami. So yeah, we'll blame the media excuses excuses. Find me a Husker fan who would honestly tell you we deserved to be in that game. Haha that wasn't until AFTER we got our butts kicked! We ended up getting there because all the teams ahead of us lost and it was all about $. So, we'll blame the media on this one, too.
  12. Best conference in CFB? I would take Oregon to beat any one of those teams, or hell, even Stanford. I think the Pac 12 is actually better than the SEC, in football this year. Stanford, UCLA and Oregon against SEC's top 3, I almost guarantee that 2 of those Pac 12 teams come out on top, if not all 3. By the way, who would you say is the top SEC team, because there are only TWO that are showing any kind of power. One being Alabama, who has had a CUPCAKE schedule, besides A&M, who put points up on the "great" Nick Saban defense. Other than A&M, who else isn't cupcake or overrated? A defensiveless LSU team? They have by far, one of the easiest schedules in the SEC, and this is why their path to the MNC is so successful. Then you have who, Mizzou? Someone who has been fortunate enough to play the higher powered teams, who have a lot of their top players out? This is not their fault by any means, and not trying to take credit away, as the better TEAM won, but they have been lucky the way things have gone so far. The great Nick Saban defense has only allowed 68 points this year and their defensive PPG will go down yet again. The 95 Huskers "greatest team ever" that defense allowed 112 pts through 7 games at this point and faced weaker opponents and nobody ranked. But, ok.
  13. Best conference in CFB? I would take Oregon to beat any one of those teams, or hell, even Stanford. I think the Pac 12 is actually better than the SEC, in football this year. Oregon is probably the only one who could give Bama a run for their money but Bama showed they can outscore that fast no huddle offense when they played A&M. Out of the past 7 SEC NC's, Oregon was really the only competitive team when they played Auburn.
  14. Sort of like how we didn't win our conference and didn't belong in the 02 Rose Bowl vs. Miami. So yeah, we'll blame the media excuses excuses.
  15. Um, 7 NC's in a row tops whatever stat you can search for on google. Sorry.
  16. Texas is bouncing back. They could win out. Yeah in a fluke kind of way like we did last year, right? Until that thrashing by a 7-5 Wisconsin team.
  17. They have every right in the world to chant SEC SEC SEC! When their conference wins 7 NC's in a row. Truth hurts, I know.
  18. Obviously the SEC is a good conference when Mizzu and A&M are much better programs right now. When you start ranked in the pre-season top ten because of media bias, then beat up on creampuffs, it's not hard to figure out. S Carolina, UGA, UF have no reason being ranked. A&M should drop out now after losing at home to Auburn because their defense is one of the worse in all of CFB. If they weren't in the SEC, they'd be gone tomorrow, but they won't. There's a media bias because it's the best damn conference in CFB. Lol, how many MNC's have they won in a row now? Think I already posted that here. The point of this thread is the fact that Mizzu and A&M are rising programs and we are not. I'll choke on my own words if we finish 12-1 and B1G champs. I'd love to see this team go out winners as much as anyone else here. But it's pretty irritating that old foes are on the rise and we are stuck. Missouri, A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor just to name a few.
  19. Mizzu and A&M are doing much better than we are. We haven't won a conference title since 1999. We live off our own legacy 95 this, 95 that. TO this, TO that. We've done nothing but get embarrassed on national TV since the 2002 Rose Bowl vs Miami. Both teams play in the best conference in CFB and are doing well oh and this is the same conference that has won the past 7 MNC's and a total of 9 out of the BCS's 15 year history. Yeah. FACTS buddy. You honestly think the SEC is that powerful of a conference this season? Have you been watching the games? Have you looked at the polls lately? Have you seen how many of their teams have been ranked in the top 10 this year? The SEC schools are tearing each other apart because they are that dang good! 20+ years ago the Big 8 was doing the SAME thing. How about the No. 1 team who has a pretty good chance to 3-peat?
  20. We only played in a conference w/ both teams for a while there. It's a comparison of our move to a new conference and their moves to their new conference. Wasn't long ago when BAYLOR was getting demolished by us now they are soon to be top 10 w/ an offense that's averaging 63 points a game. Lol, see, it's all about coaching. It annoys the heck out of me that these teams we used to completely own for the longest time are now more relevant than we are. UCLA got pounded by Stanford which makes Nebraska look even worse. I can use more teams than just Mizzu and A&M though.
  21. I must have missed Mizzou and A&M winning a title in the last 14 years... But what have we won since 99 other than a few division titles? This is all based off of recent events. Our move to the B1G, A&M to the SEC, Mizzu following. Obviously they are doing something right as of late and why do we struggle? We're lucky to be 5-1 and have nothing but a weak schedule to thank.
  22. There was a time when fans around CFB hated Nebraska and T.O., Lawrence Phillips to name just one player not many were huge fans of. Manziel is a gamer. He puts results on the field and won a friggin heisman as a frosh. I'd take him over any of our QB's any day of the week.
  23. Mizzu and A&M are doing much better than we are. We haven't won a conference title since 1999. We live off our own legacy 95 this, 95 that. TO this, TO that. 24. Look at Missouri in the SEC this year. They destroyed both Georgia and Florida. A&M shocked Bama last year, went toe to toe with them this year. Both of these teams would probably destroy us, too. So what is the issue? Why are these two teams that we beat or played tough in the past are having success? Is it coaching or the conference itself SEC vs. B1G i.e. easier to recruit for both these schools? Look at tOSU, they had a non-proven guy take over for Tressel who had a bad year and now OSU is 18-0 under Urban Meyer. So our problem has to be coaching. We have the athletes IMO. Call me one of the non-homers. It's great seeing our D make improvements but one blowout loss or stinker game (maybe NW again??) will completely overshadow any strides our defense makes. It really makes me jealous though, TBH that A&M and Missouri are having success when in the B12 they never won the conference and appeared sparingly now look at them. They are competitive in the best conference in all of CFB. The only way I see us getting that kind of recognition is if we win out and put up a fight against the representatives of the Leaders division in the B1G title game. The games I think are toss ups are @ Michigan and @ Penn State. I think we will handle MN, NW, Mich St, Iowa. If we can somehow SHOW UP to a B1G title game and be competitive with (most likely) Ohio State, then maybe just maybe we'll start being just as successful as Mizzu and aTm.
