More than likely end up in the portal:

    Demariyon Houston

    Rahmir Johnson

    Ronald Thompkins

    David Alston

    --------------------------------------------------

I think the following stay but wouldn't be surprised either. Tate Wildeman, Jackson Hannah, Chris Walker, Jordon Riley

I've seen Thompkins mentioned a few different places as someone people think will end up in the portal.  Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Rumor has it he's our most complete back and has been healthy (knee wise).  He missed time last season bc of Covid and academic issues.

    1.  With Barry's gone, where is the hotspot going to be to watch the game?

    2.  Will the prices of beer still be low on O street?

    3.  Where will the hot girls, that are clearly not 21 yet, go now that Barry's is closed?

    4.  Will I still convince myself that Elk Creek "doesn't get my buzzed"

    5.  How many times will I say "Man, I wish I was in college again"

Wait, Barry's closed?!  Is it vacant and how did I not know this?

Stepp, Manning, Rahmir Johnson, JoJo Domann, and Ben Stille either seen in sweats or not seen practicing.

I wonder what’s up with Stepp and I wonder if Manning will ever play?

Rumor is that Stepp has a broken bone in his foot and is out for the spring

So, when Fred was hired, I remember lots of discussions about how his offense doesn't need or necessarily want a big guy filling up the lane. Is he readjusting his vision now that he's in the Big Ten?

I believe it was more he want's the right big that is athletic.  Not getting a big just to have one.  Needs to be able to do a little bit of everything, which it sounds like Kojnets can do.

Basically what I came in here to say. It's particularly dumb to complain about a kids low rating this year, evaluations are all over the place. And I still trust the coaches' judgement. But pretending it's a Nebraska specific thing is also ridiculous, pretty much any P5 and some other schools will have a subset of fans up in arms about commits with lower ratings.

I agree.  Unfortunately, living in omaha, I hear a lot of that.  They all seem to think it’s just a local thing.

I think you've got it bass ackwards: we need great WRs to let our QBs shine. We might be throwing out WR offers like they're candy, but the fact is, Frost's only WR recruit that's amounted to anything (so far) is gone now. I'm still firmly in the camp that says we could've had Joe Burrow and wouldn't have fared a whole lot better with this supporting cast around the QB the last couple years.

Agreed and he sure as hell wouldn't have been the number one overall pick

Statistical models are only as reliable as the variables that are input into the equation.  Did SP+ adequately account for a heavily depleted MN roster (due to Covid) when they visited Lincoln this year?  How does the model evaluate a team of 2nd String players (MN) who did not see the playing field prior to or following that game?   That game in particular was very revealing about where we are as a program.

The subscriber services are part of the problem here.  Feeding the hype machine in the offseason (recruiting, advanced analytics, etc.).  In exchange for your monthly premium, subscribers get exclusive access to analysis and coverage of a perennial bottom-feeder.  Subscribers, particularly those with programs that are down, cling to this new "gospel" as a substitute for the real results we used to see.  I empathize, as I was one of those 15 years ago.  No longer, as the turnaround I was certain would occur then, never materialized.

Can we please put the stupid argument that MN had to play that game with a bunch of scrubs to rest?  Fleck put that narrative out there and it has been proven flat out false.

We had one and we used him as a goaline back...

I am not saying Wandale was as good as Rondale but we also utilized him so poorly.

Agreed.  I'm just saying I wouldn't turn a Rondale type talent

I don’t think Indiana fans are thrilled with this hire.

That’s an understatement.  Indiana whiffed on just about everyone they actually wanted.  Pretty sure this was their last pick and not a pick they would’ve chosen if they could’ve got anyone else.

Here's what I don't get. For all his ills, why was Bo able to recruit the talent to at least keep us respectable and bowl eligible and Riley/Frost haven't even been close? In my mind I'd think I'd be more inclined to play for either Riley or Frost.. I just don't get why Frost is struggling to recruit offensive talent.

I think Frost has been recruiting some solid talent, we just for whatever reason haven't really seen it translate to the field.  I think this year will be a huge difference in the talent that we have on the field, across the board for us.  Hopefully that can translate to wins.

Yeah, it seems to me like iOS is not allowing any space for Tweets to embed when it first resolves the page.  So the page starts to display and it sets your view to the first unread post.  But then the tweets start to load and the page starts moving all over the place as it figures out how much space to allow.  Or something to that effect.  Doesn't seem to be an issue other than with iOS.

Yea it's weird.  This is the only site that i've ever had an issue with it:dunno

Yeah, is some combination of iOS and this site. My iPad doesn't do it on any other site either. But none of my other devices have any issue. I don't visit any other message board sites on my iPad where tweets and such have to resolve to know if iOS had the same issue on other sites.

I recently switched from an Iphone 8 to the 12 and it never happened on the 8 (had the most current iOS too).  Happens daily on the 12.

With the amount of fan apathy in general, this is kind of where I'm at. I don't think people will care that much. Sure it'll be a fun punching bag on social media for the off season if it happens, but fans and sports are fickle. It's all 'what have you done for me lately.'

If by some miracle NU pulled out against OU but went on to win 9-10 games and a division title this year, I don't think the average fan would care about OU.

(FWIW... by the time I was born, most of the NU/OU glory days were done. OU was not very good in the 90's when I grew up watching Husker football. This is probably blasphemous to some of our older fans, but to me personally, I never viewed them much differently than any other team on Nebraska's schedule).

I don't disagree, people are very short sighted.  I think the average fan would care if we were talking about post season at that point and how that win could come into play.  I just don't see this going away.  I think it will get brought up again in some fashion once the game would be close to happening, even it's forgotten in a few months.  And you can be damn sure other teams will use it against us in recruiting.

The average fan isn't on this forum and frankly doesn't follow the day to day stuff like most of us do.  The stadium will be full when attendance is allowed.  There will some PR explanation offered if we do cancel with Oklahoma and most will accept it.  We are a pretty gullible society lately.

I agree with the bolded.  This will be all over the news though.  Would be hard to miss and at least personally, I know a lot of people who don't follow the day to day and have seen this and this would be "the last straw" for them.  But maybe people will have moved on and forgotten by this fall, who knows.

  15. 39 minutes ago, Enhance said:

To the bolded, why? Because of COVID or because of overall low fan interest?

If we play some patsy, I don't think there will be a whole lot of fan interest to begin with.  Then add in how pissed people are about this, I could see a lot of fans giving the university the finger and not showing up.
