I think it's pretty much try everyone who could play there, and settle on who fits best. If Teddy's back some people have been floating Corcoran, and then really any of the interior guys could do it. The switch to Center went really well for Farmer a few years ago, and Matt Farniok is on an NFL roster as a Center. Developing guys there is not as hard as we've made it look, I think Austin just never bothered developing a backup because Cam was good and any potential backups were more likely to be needed at G/T.

Personally I like the sounds of Teddy at LT and Corcoran at C, but my guess is Nouili or Hixson. I think Lutovsky, Williams (transfer from Northern Colorado), and the losers of the Tackle battles are probably too big to be Centers and we'll find 2 Guards out of that group. Hixson has already played some Center, and Nouili was a pleasant surprise -for the most part.

I know Hixson has some experience there but if he's our starting C, we are f'ed.

I believe recruiting opens back up this weekend (?).

Also, if Allen wants in, I would think we would back off on this one.

I realize that room would get really crowded but if he really wanted N, I don't see any way you turn him away.

I don't really think that's going to be an issue though.

Held was horrible so even if he is okay I think it would be an upgrade. Kinda lame hire for how long it took. I would rather have Brown than Applewhite. Doesn’t appear he wants to come back though. Probably my least favorite hire.

Two of his true freshman in 2020 both ran for over 7.0+ YPC

Agreed.  I think Applewhite is an upgrade but not by much.

Funny, but a lot of schools felt differently after watching his tape, when he came out of High School. Besides Texas A&M he had 21 offers:

    Auburn

    Alabama

    Coastal Carolina

    Florida

    Florida Atlantic

    Georgia St.

    Louisville

    Maryland

    Michigan St.

    Nebraska

    North Carolina

    Ohio St.

    Purdue

    Rutgers

    South Carolina

    Syracuse

    Tennessee

    Troy

    UCF

    Western Kentucky

    Arkansas

But a couple of years later Huskerboard is "meh".

I was talking about our current rbs

I fail to see how anyone can make a good judgement call with our RBs because of how bad our O line was.

Also, didn't I read somewhere that people were speculating that this guy would be more of a full back?  Sorry if this question gets all the fullback lovers so excited they can't stand up at work.

I would agree but just going off what we've seen.  Even when the blocking was there, there wasn't a whole lot to be overly impressed with.

  6. One thing that kinda bothers me about players opting out is they could just as easily get hurt at any other point in the season.  Most of them are still playing in their regular season games at the end, even if they have no shot of making the playoffs.  What's one more game, really?

What do you think of Jordan Riley? He's a big body and I thought he flashed a couple times this year, just didn't get a lot of time with a loaded DL roster

Rumor was that he had a piss poor attitude and work ethic this season.  No idea if it was true but wouldn't surprise me to see him transfer

    From Huskers.com:

In Dawson’s first year at Nebraska in 2018, his defensive line featured a pair of All-Big Ten performers and helped key a Blackshirts unit that moved up 27 spots in the national scoring defense rankings from the 2017 season. The line helped Nebraska total 25 sacks, 11 more than the Huskers recorded the previous season.

In addition to the pressure created by the defensive line, the unit also helped the Huskers post the ninth-most pass breakups in school history (58). Carlos Davis led the line with five breakups, the most by a Husker defensive lineman since Ndamukong Suh had nine in 2009. Carlos and his twin brother, Khalil, were both all-conference performers in 2018, as Khalil led the defensive line with 41 tackles, eight tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks.

In 2017, Dawson’s defensive line helped UCF post the first perfect season in program history and in the history of the American Athletic Conference when UCF finished 13-0 as the nation’s only undefeated team. The Knights ranked third in the league in scoring defense and fourth in rushing defense. Two of his three starting defensive linemen earned all-conference accolades, including Jamiyus Pittman, a member of the Outland Trophy watch list who was an All-AAC performer for the second straight season.

Yea, he's definitely a good replacement.  Hopefully we continue to see the same success.

I think you could make the argument that he's been the 3rd best position coach on the defensive side of the ball.

It's a loss, for sure, but a lot of the guys he had success with this last year were 5th and 6th year guys. Maybe it was Tuioti, maybe it was all that experience in the program. Probably combination of both.

Behind Fisher and who..Dawson?  I agree with your last statement...which is kinda what I see with Dawson and the Davis twins.  Although, Dawson has had success elsewhere.

Maybe it was Chin, but saw that Daniels and Thomas being gone might not be a done deal.  Anyone else hearing/seing anything?

Yea Chin said they aren't expected back but that neither has actually made a decision.  It's possible but I wouldn't count on it.

That is what I'm wondering.  But...again...this is all speculation at this point.

Obviously there's some pretty serious smoke.  Sounds like we'll hear about it this week if it's true.  Really doesn't make a whole lot of sense that they'd come after us when we're so god awful and there's countless schools they could get.  Not to mention the ones the did "get" that basically nothing has happened to.

    Agreed.

And also I really don't think Frost's scheme needs a guy that's as mobile as Martinez or Rattler. It really needs a throw-first guy.

And we're bringing in an OC who led more of a throw-first QB in an offense that used that strength as its leverage to move the chains.

Agreed.  Definitely need a throw first guy.  At least most of the transfer portal targets seem to fit that...

Rattler was in Lincoln this past weekend, not sure if Strogner was with him, or if they are planning a return visit to Lincoln.

I'm thinking that was all rumor.  It was like one guy saying he was on campus.  No way his hideousness didn't alarm more people.
