  1. Not going to lie, I like this teams will to fight.  If we would have saw more of this last year, we would have won alot more.  Yeah, I know your going to say its more about Casey and Palmer, I do agree some, but this whole team is fighting harder for this interim staff than they ever did for Frost.

  2. I have not really made a list yet, but here is what I would start with:

    1.  Urban-  Yes, he is the only can't miss hire out there.

    2.  Matt Rhule- He did get Temple and Baylor on the right track in short order.

    3.  Lance Leipold-  Anyone who can get Kansas respectable in 1 1/2 years is a really good coach.

    4.  Mickey-  I question his authority some after he let WHipple  call a pass play on 4th and 1.  But if he gets this team to a bowl game, I don't know if you can afford to not hire him.

Best of the rest:  Aranda, Campbell, Klieman, Harskin, and Dykes.

  3. My last comment for this session but College GAmeday was in Lawrence today.  Leiipold was featured on this.  Many know who that guy is right now.  If KSU keep winning they will have a Gameday soon somewhere as well and that guy, Klieman, will be known nationally if not already.  If your going to keep suggesting Aranda, please remember that Rhule built the current Baylor program and Aranda just got the keys.  This is where I think alot of people get mislead.  Rhule recruiting alot of the players on the roster and he was building towards what is there right now.

I will add that many on this board wanted Billy Napier last season, and he is struggling with Florida's talented roster.  Too soon to tell, but he isn't instant winner either.  With a roster like they have at Florida, and recruiting success, this coaching thing is hard to figure who will and who won't make it work. Deboer at Washington lost to Arizona St today?  I don't know if there is a homerun hire other than Urb's and pretty sure he isn't coming here.  I could see him at Auburn or Texas A@M or Florida St or Penn St or ?  I have read where Auburn will go after Franklin if Meyer turns them down.  I am guessing that A@M won't fire Jimbo for the $90 mil he would get......but.....?  In the end, we just need the right coach for us and it doesn't have to be a slam dunk nationally in my opinion.  We have this NIL thing that alot of schools dn't have and that is a deciding factor as well.

I don’t think kids in CA or FL even know what a Lance Leipold is. I think he is a good coach but we need recruiting. All the guys making plays this year are new players transferred into the program.  I want a big time national name in here. This is mini pro football with all the money nowadays. Campbell and Leipold will ceiling out with talent they can bring here.

These comments make me scratch my head.  Were talking about Nebraska Football......with the winning coach, it recruits itself.  We have to develop players no matter who is the coach and where we get players in the star battle.  What I have seen so far from Rhule, Klieman, Leipold or Aranda is they develop players.  I don't know if we could go wrong with any of those guys right now.  Recruiting is important, but what we do with those recruits is so much more important.

  5. This is the question that I am sure many are asking yourselves right now:  How do we root for our team even if we think that Mickey might not be the best fit as a full time head coach?  Not saying I don't want him or saying that I do want him.  The thing is are we setting ourselves and the kids up for a big letdown if Mickey isn't retained and ends up winning 5 or 6 games?  Who would want to coach this team and do it having to retain Mickey or Busch?  Almost seems like a lose, lose situation to some points.  I hope for the kids sake they make a bowl game.  I hope that they get what they deserve in the long run.  Just asking a serious but not serious question.

Campbell is out.  His leverage is gone as ISU is underperforming a lot.

What the hell Venables?  Looks like that guy is DC only material. Bob Stoops may coach again and prove all you naysayers wrong!

The homeruns are still out there.  Meyer, Aranda, Kiffen, Petersen.

Fickell and Dykes stock are still in tact.

I guess we can get in a pissing match with Wisconsin for Leipold but I don’t think Leipold can recruit at the level we need.

Don’t sleep on Deion!  The recruiting alone is worth it. Keep MJ and Busch.

If you think that Leipold is not a good enough recruiter, you are slapping our resources and money in the face.  He has recruited decent being in only his second season at KU and really his first season of having his recruits since he started late after recruiting was done already when hired.  The issue is going to be if Mickey wins two more games and he doesn't get the job.  No one will want this job if they have to retain the interim guy who the players like alot and have played hard for since Frosty was shown the door.  Basically Leipold can coach, if you win games that improves recruiting on its own.  I wouldn't sleep on him just yet.  But again, even he wouldn't want this gig if he has to retain the interim guy that wins 4 games.

He might be a great DC, but not a good/great HC.  A lot of guys are better when soley focused on one area.  Maybe Brent is that guy.

I wonder if Lincoln went to USC to avoid the SEC and/or he new that his player quality was declining and Texas, Baylor, OSU, TCU were on the rise and his road to a championship would be harder in the Big XII

Lincoln Riley took all the talented offensive players with him to USC and OU lost some key defenders to the NFL last season.  Basically Riley sabotaged OU and I do think that OU was on the decline as well

Grant had 136 yards against Indiana

Those runs were not off tackle.  They were up the gut and tough runs.  Our line can't block, and calling for off tackle or outside the box runs isn't going to net any more yards than whats happening now.  Just keeping running him, he will jup cut and juke his way for yardage.  He had two runs to the outside tonight and was kept going sideways for little to no gain.  He is a straight line runner, and yes, he has not broken any 50 yard runs against Big 10 competition.  He looked tonight like we was getting worn down some.

So much this.  D came out at half and were completely different.

Whip needs to learn its ok to run outside of the tackles.....

I don't think it matters where they try to run the ball, we can't block and Grant can't outrun D-1 players like he did against North Dakota and Georgia South......remember Grant hasn't really lit up anyone since those two warm up games
