  1. I didn't know they were brothers. That's awesome. And their mom is Barbara Mandel of the famous country and western group the Mandel Sisters.
  2. I predicted 35-0, so 34-7 wouldn't shock me at all. It also doesn't shock me that Mandel has the score backwards.
  3. . . . or drunk on the blood of Jesus? http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2013/11/15/illinois-bishop-plans-gay-marriage-exorcism/?hpt=hp_t3
  4. That's bullsh#t. You question someones fandom because they want the program to win more and perform better? You must be of the opinion that this is as good as it can be. Not ranked, squeaking by Wyoming, losing to Minnesota, getting blown out by UCLA and, so far, one great win beating Michigan in their house. That's it? That's all you want? Which team are you a fan of? Relax. I'm fairly new here. I've noticed there are clearly fans of other teams posting here. "TAKODA" does not say "Husker Fan" nor does his avatar. Then he posts a heavily researched stats-laden post trying to tear down the Huskers, complete with a virtual high five to the guy who helped him compile these dramatic stats. And I was supposed to correctly guess that he was actually a Husker fan??? I'll relax when you do. I'm not new here. Acceptable convention would suggest that possibly you might want to know who you are addressing before pulling out the "you're not a fan" card on another poster. You aren't supposed to guess squat but it would be nice if you tempered your comments with a bit of knowledge before going there. And, BTW, so you learn a little bit more about me, I'm not 9 yrs old but more like 50. I attended UNL 1981-1985. I've been a fan since I was a little child growing up in Nebraska. I was not enamored with Solich the year before he was fired but I wasn't calling for his head either. I think, if he was going to be fired, it should have been done the year before he actually was canned. And yes, in hindsight, I wish it had not been done at all or at the very least that it had been handled much differently. But, I firmly believe the problem was not created by changing coaches but rather by interrupting all program continuity, trashing the walk-on program, and alienating former players and tradition. So, I do not fear coaching change in and of itself. Devaney to Osborne was not a problem. Osborne to Solich was not a problem. Callahan to Pelini was not a problem. The only real problem we've had therefore can be attributed more to what Callahan and Pederson did and allowed to happen and not to the HC change itself. I don't dislike Bo, I'm not a hater. I just see a bunch of evidence that suggests we could and should be doing better and also that Bo would fly the coop if presented the opportunity. If you think I'M a negative Nellie, I've got a list of people you've just got to meet. I apologize. Sounds like we are very similar in many ways.
  5. I'm predicting a +6 turnover margin. GBR!!
  6. TAKODA, your post that I responded to clearly sliced and diced and cherry picked stats to put the Huskers in a bad light. And you seemed almost gleeful in your accomplishment. Be a man. Own it.
  7. Sorry about that cut and paste. It looked great in my preview pane!

  9. So now the negative nellies think they have a monopoly on expectations? I expect us to win every game. I get upset when we don't. Then I analyze what we did right and wrong and talk about what we might do to improve. Of course it's just mental masturbation, since I don't attend practices or team meetings. OTOH, when we don't meet your expectations, it's "Fire the bums! Burn it to the ground! We deserve better!" The futility of your method was proven ten years ago. But I guess if you're only 9 years old, I can forgive your lack of hindsight.

  11. For $600 million??? That was about $599.9 miliion in government freebies bought and paid for with campaign contributions. It makes me throw up in my mouth a little when you call them "private companies".
  12. I say we go after Saban. If we get enough Husker fans on the Saban bandwagon, 'Bama will surely lose out.
  13. Tom was cursed against the Land Thieves. But he stuck it out and eventually gained the upper hand in later decades. Persistence and dedication, winning the right way and all that. The Curse of Black Friday is different, though. Not so that we're cursed against the Fluffs; nay, it is the curse of being irrelevant. Since the fluke of us being in the Rose Bowl that year, not ONCE in 12, count 'em TWELVE YEARS has the Nebraska Football Program been anywhere close to the top nationally. No conference championships. No BCS bowls. I'm not a gray-hair expecting 90's glory every game and season. I understand there will be down years. We've had our shots, but something always seems to make the ball bounce wrong, or hit the ground a second too soon. For some unknown reason we show up flat and get trucked by a fired up Wisconsin squad; or we have OU against the ropes twice, but they find a way to beat us, just like they used to. A kicker never kicks the ball out of bounds does so when it's the worst thing that can happen. Injuries to key players, every year. It's always SOMETHING. What else would you call it? A program like Nebraska's with EVERYTHING they have at their disposal - incredible facilities, fan support, monetary support, sellout streaks, nationwide fan base, etc., and we're going on 12 years of second best or worse? Call me entitled or whatever, but understand that I live and die between the whistles just like every other die-hard here. I was as excited as anyone with the Wester-catch, and counted it as a lucky break and a solid win. I'm not calling for a new coach or any of that. I'm just waiting for the curse that started one god-forsaken night in Boulder to die. The curse's initials are SP. We were ranked in the top ten at some point every single season under Solich. Bo has gotten us back up there a couple times. If Martinez was healthy all season, we'd be top 5 right now. We're close.
  14. No offense, but this is really a crap argument. What's your definition of satisfied? Who do you think is satisfied? You want to do the same thing that got us here in the first place -- fire a winning coach. If you truly expected those things you listed above, you should be hoping like hell that Pelini figures it out because starting over will throw us back another 6 years.
  15. False. You sure about that? Because half of the problem revealed itself the next season in Ohio, when Frank was arrested on a DUI charge after passing out in his car. False. He took the next season off.
  16. We were in steady decline as we ran out of Tom's recruits. Even the 9-3 record his last year featured exactly one win over a team with a winning record (9-4 S Miss). Not a good recruiter. He's done OK at Ohio but has never lost fewer than four games and has two bowl wins in eight years. Not terrible but nothing special either. Nothing special? At Ohio? Before Frank, they had only been to two bowl games in their entire history and never won one! In their entire 120 year history, they had won 9+ games in three seasons. Frank has won 9+ four times in only 8 seasons. And two seasons of 7-7 to 10-3 is not steady decline. It's a blip. Seriously, do you not have hindsight???
  17. Yeah I know, I remember Bill winning 9-10 games a season...oh wait... did you even read what i wrote past the first 10 words? Doesn't matter. You exercised the Husker corollary of Godwin's law.
  18. Firing Frank was the stupidest move in college football history. In hindsight, it's obvious.
