  1. How in the hell did this become a bash Callahan thread. I'm trying to look at our potential EOY record using meaningful stats. I really don't care about Callahan -- or anything else that happened before this year. I'm looking to the future, not the past.
  2. One thing I think that is going to be hard for us to over come. The blown coverages can be fixed, but this really can't (well not this year at least). What I see is that we basically have 4 D-linemen, and that's it. Almost zero depth here. Normally in situations like this you would want to run the ball, ALOT, and eat up the clock. The problem is, we can't. Well, we can't against a good team. So, if we do what our offense is good at -- throwing a lot, we put too much pressure on this D-line. Thus the real question to the success of our season is how good are our future opponents at stopping the run? I've "heard" that we won't face a better line than VTech, but I'm not drinking that cool aid. Here is what I see: Rush Yards Given Up Per Game VTech - 125.6/game MU - 99/game TTech - 100/game IState - 187.5/game Baylor - 127.5/game OU - 73/game KU - 94.75/game KSU - 206.5/game CU - 172/game So, I think we have excellent chances against IState, KSU, and CU, and I think we'll beat Baylor. The rest are going to be very tough to win unless our running game improves significantly to keep our D-line fresh.
  3. I don't think there is a problem with this team. I do believe; however, this game has put the potential of this team a little bit back into perspective (especially for some people). That potential is that we should be at least 7-5, which, is a huge improvement over last year. We could be 8-4, and maybe, just maybe 9-3. But lets face it, the 9-3 will be an incredible overachievement for this team. We all start out the year hoping for the absolute best. Then, the games indicate where we are. Improved from last year, but no where near where we want to be. Each year, each game, we just need to get better and getter.
  4. Apparently you've never dealt with Qwest. Forget Comcast here in Colorado - head to the local Fox and Hound. Does anybody know if they've picked up the Coach Pelini show at least?
  5. No, I don't want a Solich debate. I just refuse to believe the CU started our decline. A lot of things could have happened and some did happend that would have brought us back to the national spotlight is all I'm saying. It just wasn't allowed. On the other hand, it is just as likely that FS could have also decided to that we can't recruit QB's, scrap the position all together and direct snap to the FB. Also, I truly doubt that we will be a "force" in the National Championship race year-in-and-year-out like we were. I think we can be a top 25 team every year, but the parity in college football is going to make it impossible that we are in the top 10/5 every year. People just may as well accept that as fact. A lot of things have changed. We are now in the Big 12 with a championship game, we also do not get partial qualifies, scholarship max's have been reduced. Accept that if we are playing in a BCS bowl every 2-3 years, we are a very good program.
  6. BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!! Also, I absolutely refuse to state that this started in Boulder in '01. That is total BS, and only a dream of a Buffaloes fan. FS had fired who needed fired, brought in the young blood that was required and we were 10 - 3 in 2003: heading back in the correct direction. Granted, it wasn't the mid-90's, but I'm about 99.99999999999999% sure we will never have a run like we did in the mid-90's (60-3, almost impossible to do in today's environment unless your So Cal). I think if we'd implemented a spread type offense in 2004 (we had the dual threat QBs to do it), we would have had another NC within a few years. If Pedey hadn't decide to throw every tradition away we ever had, we'd been fine. So, it is pretty obvious to me that the true "crash" started in 2004 with BC.
  7. Ok, I know I am stating the obvious, but what sucks about a "b*******", is that, no matter what, there will be at least 1/3 to 1/2 of those attending the game that just won't do it. God almightly could come down from heaven and appear in their living room, tell them that if they don't where black he will strike them down with a lightning, and they still wouldn't do it. Then, our stadium does not look impressive anymore. It just looks like any other stadium on game day. So, forget about it. What would look cool to me is the entire stadium red except for an all black student section. Also, it doesn't matter anyway 'cause this one is just on PPV and only us Husker fans will be watching.
  8. I noticed comcast in other states (I think Iowa) is picking up the WMU PPV. Comcast in CO (at least in Denver) picked up the Coach C..... (probably shouldn't say his name as I might start an all out ware) Show last year. Given they pick up the coaches show, why wouldn't they pick up the PPV? Anyone know? Will writing them letters work, or does Dish or Direct have exclusive rights in CO.
  9. We've had a number of decommitts recently. I'm not suprised at all, and I wish these kids good luck in their future endeavors. After all, they are just kids and it is their lives. I hope they have made the best decision for their future both on an off the football field. So, lets move on.... How many recruits are we going to take this year? Given how many we have (and assuming they all stay), what do we have left to get? What are the position of need? Do we need a QB? Do we need an RB? I know we need LBs. Ok, who is out there that we are targeting to fill these needs? What are our chances of getting them? I'm much more interested in what are recruiting class is going to look like, not what it could have and will not look like! PS - I think one thing that is hurting us is that Bo is not "stealing" commits from LSU that he has relationships with. I'd rather have a stand up guy like that coaching us than a vulture willing to do anything to steal a commit from somoenone else.
  10. My point is that Beachbuffs was saying that we are not getting any recruits; however, according to the "experts" our recruits are still better than his Buffs, even with the 3 people that jumped ship for Colorado (I checked, these rankings show them as commits for the Buffs). Utlimately, a recruiting class/classes are only as good as their win/loss record 2 to 4 years down the road. So we shall see what happens then. Also, my ultimate philosophy is that I'm almost glad they went to Colorado. For two reasons: 1) A strong Big 12 North only helps us. 2) We get to play them every year.
  11. Maybe on the old version (2007) of the Blackshirts. Watch out for the 2008 and future Blackshirts. The "Bones" will have more meaning next year and beyond. How so, you will be using the same people because you aren't getting any recruits........ Even after losing our recruits (from nebraska.rivals.com). 18 Nebraska 19 2 2 13 3.11 1,223 19 Clemson 16 1 6 5 3.25 1,213 20 Maryland 18 0 6 8 3.11 980 21 Colorado 14 0 6 6 3.29 977 So, we still have better recruits than you do. I'm not saying that I would not have liked to have the guys that decommitted, I'm just saying we are ranked higher than you are without them. However, after the last 4 years, I don't put much faith in these rankings though. no offense.. but obviously.. your using a recruiting site to grade these rankings.. how well does this normally pan out? we need the guys that want to come to play for the huskers, not the big names that just wanna launch pad to the NFL..... Agree completely, thus the last sentence of my post.

  13. http://www.eurekareporter.com/ArticleDispl...ArticleID=31615 “It’s crazy out there,” Purify said. “They expect a lot. Every game there are 90,000 people there to watch you play, and thousands of fans line up after the games to get your autograph. But the only thing they care about is winning. That’s it.” My thoughts are - you show me a major college program that accepts a 27-22 record over 4 years, and I'll show you a college program that never has and never will win a national championship.
  14. I suspect rumorvillewill go into the BS forum, because that is what 90% of it is -- BS.
  15. I would not be that harsh, but I would lock the thread so it could not grow.
  16. Wow, I really like Husker football, and that is why I do this. However, why do you? Do you just like to make up stories? Are you frustrated with your current job? I suggest taking up creative writing. You may be able to make a career out of this. Now, I think you'll have to do a little better than this thread, but hey, I think you have promise. And yes, I know I'm just bumping this moronic thread back to the top. But hey, they are all moronic threads in this forum now.
  17. I was scolded by personal message from a certain mod the other day for this. Since then the threads have gotten even more ridiculous than my "who Oprah indorsed for HC" thread. I'm kinda pissed for being singled out for this when I see everyone doing it. I actually thought that was funny and obviously a joke. Like Oprah gives a sh#t about Nebraska Football. However, if I was a mod, I would have still locked it but not scolded you.
  18. and all of the obviously fake stories that knapplc(?) posted repeatedly today. Yes, can someone please ban this guy. I mean, come on, he is obviously just trolling and thinking it is funny.
  19. Like Mary Pat Pelini had her gynocologists records transferred to Lincoln. Like the Pelini's called some salt water aquarium guy in Lincoln. Like Tom Osburne's son had some shirts in a store about Turner Gill being hired. This list goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on.
  20. Not saying Bo isn't the guy, but my guess is that ESPN is just guessing (based on the fact that TO hasn't named anybody yet), so they can feel they have the scoop.
  21. If they will let me, I'll volunteer to be a mod for this forum! Will you? I think we have the same mindset -- a normal discussion of ALL the possibilities (hell, I'll even allow all the threads about some HS coach being the next HC of NE in, as long as it is not stupid).
  22. I'd rather not have a couple of disgruntled assistants going out to recruit. I think they'd do more harm than good. Ya, I think you're a little Pissed and you shouldn't be. Do you seriously want him out there talking to people? I sure as hell don't. These guys are both gone. If they were talking to recruits, I'd be pissed. Let them go away in peace. Coaches get paid all the time for not doing anything (hell, I had a friend who was a financial advisor, and he got paid 9 months severence for not transferring). It happens all the time.
  23. Please post a somewhat legitimate "story" or just post your opinion. Yes this is rumorville, but it is not "make up the best storyville". It seems like the :asshat :asshat :asshat :asshat :asshat :asshat :asshat :asshat :asshat :asshat have taken over this forum, and the mods will not let even semi-reasonable stories be posted in the main forum. I hate to say this, but are they a little PO'd BC got canned? Please correct me if I'm wrong. (PS -- I do think having this sub-forum is a good idea, I'm just sick of all the moronic stories).
  24. Idiot -- either post your prediction, or keep your BS, stupid stories to yourself.
