Can't wait for the explanation of Rhule is going to turn this around.  Hiring fired guys doesn't work very well. Do not care if it's freon the NFL or not.  No he's not the next Pete Carroll.

NFL success/failure has no bearing at the college level. None. None. None. Ask Saban. Ask Harbaugh.

Can Carolina actually prevent it from going forward? I could see them being pissed off and potentially suing the university if they think they can prove we're underpaying him, but can they actually veto a deal? I am not familiar with coaching contracts but that seems crazy if so.

I wouldnt honestly think Carolina would have any leg to stand in here, legally. And they shouldn’t. First of all, there is a HUGE range of college head coach salaries, there is no factually way to even begin to prove “underpayment.”  For instance, likely we could get Joseph at 2m. Rhule commands more than that but there is certainly no uniform established tier system.

Secondly, even  If we are paying Rhule 4m/year.  That is still 4 mil/year less Carolina is on the hook for. It’s their stupid contract, after all. Mitigate the damage is the play fir them imo.

Here is how I feel about this. If our HC was killing it and OSU or Mich needed one they are absolutely gonna try to steal our coach and wouldn't even think twice about it.

But we are Nebraska nice. Look how good that is working for us.

I believe as far as having trust in Trev to make the right hire.  In my mind, it really is having trust in the firm doing the work.  They have proven to be very effective at their job.  That is what is giving me the most hope.  Nebraska hasn't had a true coaching search yet.  This is the first time it has happened.  This means everyone is going off of old past patterns and pulling names out of their a$$ based on that.

It would not shock me one bit that it was a Fickell or Kiffen.  I go back to the USC hire last year.  That came out of nowhere, and there were a lot of talks that Lincoln's wife didn't want to move either. (or maybe I'm imagining that???)

So, let's sit back and enjoy the fact that we have actual professionals conducting this coaching search, and then if the results don't speak for themselves then we can break out the pitchforks and torches.

    Until Brian Ferentz is announced….

I find it interesting reading all of these takes about how Trev is doing such a good job and "I trust Trev!".  He has yet to hire any coach, let's see what happens.  This is more of the "I love former Huskers at all costs" mentality I feel like.

You aren't being fair with this. If you can not look at Trev's body of work at UNO and the professionalism at which he handled himself there and combine it with the professionalism and intelligence he has displayed so far since coming on at UNL, you are intentionally choosing not to.

    Agree with everything here.

To the bolded:  I wonder what would have happened if Frost would have had Joseph from the get go.  It just seems like Mickey is more about being physical in practice and player accountability.  If ifs and buts were candy and nuts"...

Would have never happened, Scott didn't want anybody around that would indicate he may not be the Messiah of football coaching.

Averaged 25.1 in 2009.  It looks like the last year we averaged less than the current 23.3 was 21.9 in 2004.

We can argue all day if the offense is the worst or just almost the worst. What a great use of energy.  The team, overall, is the worst we’ve EVER put on the field. It’s shameful and embarrassing. There are no words.

Not sure why you are expecting anything different.  There is a slight chance something gets announced the week of the Iowa game, but I doubt it.

If there is one thing that I can assure you, it is that, when it comes to this program, I no longer have any expectations.  I'm just so miserable about it tonight I would prefer an announcement in order to stem the misery.
