Don’t think that’s the case. However, Mickey being OC is in the realm of possibility.

Also hope not. He has literally no experience with that, either. I would actually think he would have an easier path to success as HC based on what I know of his resume.

Wouldn’t it be something if it was MJ all along. Trev’s been working his tail off compiling information on how to help him be successful as head coach and identifying assistants to target for his staff! :laughpound

Better not be. If we don’t trust a coach to have the expertise to understand what staff he needs and the connections to bring them in, then why would we trust them to have all of the rest of the tools necessary to lead the program.

Mud wrestling?  How about pole dancing?   Now that would sell out!

Good to see that women's sports, and by extension women, are still a joke to some.  I still cannot, for the life of me, understand how so many people don't have a daughter or mother or wife that can help them understand that maybe women's place in this world isn't just to strive to entertain men in whichever way men see the most fit.

Eh... That's my point.  None of those teams would be where they are without balance.    I wasn't suggesting that Nebraska, or any other team for that matter, can run the ball consistently when the other team knows it's coming.  I'll agree my post above didn't get my point across very well.

Bottom line - What MJ is suggesting isn't going to work with our lack of a passing game to keep the defense honest.  Hope I'm wrong.

The good news is. Whip doesn’t seem to care what Mickey wants, so we should be good watching Smothers channel his inner Payton Manning.

Michigan is a run first team, granted, not crazy like we used to be in the 80's and 90's, but more runs than passes. Somehow they are unbeaten. Not impossible to run the ball in college, but you do have to build your team around it.

Looks pretty close to 50/50 to me, and with 5+ wins of 25+ points, I'd bet they've done their fair share of clock burning. They aren't run first at all, they are balanced.  Successful balanced offensive attacks win a lot of games.

People wonder why mental health is so much more prominent then years and years ago. Some say it's because it's more socially acceptable to talk about. I can get that. I really think the explosion in tech and the fact that you can have whatever you want a Google away has led to people taking in info at a rate where the biological rate of the brain is not currently equipped to handle that much self searched stimuli. I am sad, I can find sad s#!t to reinforce my mood. I am happy, I can find happy s#!t to reinforce...people have lost the ability to self regulate (natural process) anymore.

Talk of cellphones and finding ways to engage people led me to this tangent. Lol.

I've heard if you say Boomer 3 times, one shows up to give a lecture. ;)

Nebraska hasn't been to a bowl game since 2016. Nebraska hasn't won a conference title since 1999. Nebraska has little local recruiting.

Let's get serious for a second.

Nebraska does have great NIL ops.. Which is really a gamechanger for programs like us.

I've been a Martinez fan and defender for the past 5 years, but he is flawed, and stuff like this seems to happen to him.  Yes, it was a pressure from the D-line, so I don't know how much blame goes on Adrian, but he still fumbled when they were driving for a tying score.  I didn't like that K-State seemed to be going too slowly on that potential game-tying drive though.  They were taking too much time off the clock before Adrian's fumble at midfield.

He actually fumbled twice on that drive. The first one just accidentally got knocked out of bounds by two Texas defenders. It’s literally crazy.

I really don't see the talent issue that some people are seeing. We have some holes in the roster but all of the teams we have lost to do also and definitely every team in the west does big time.  Pretty much everyone we have played I felt like we at least as much talent if not more. A good coach with this exact roster should be able to win the west this year or at lest be very very close

The only holes on a team that you can not scheme around are o line holes. We have the worst in the P5 and that’s not an exaggeration.

Minn was favored by 15.5, and we lost by 7 with a chance to win in the fourth. And folks are upset because we didn't pull the upset or Chubba. Chubba I get, but if we won would everyone who doesn't want MJ as HC been equally as enthusiastic to say MJ should be HC?

Had we won, no, Mickey still is not qualified to be HC.

We were in the 1st quarter. Then Whipple decided to stop running the ball consistently. Awful.

No. They started filling box to stop the run. Which. They should have been doing since the kick. That this game was even close is a testament to how poor a coach Fleck is. A s#!t o line doesn’t become a dominant run blocking unit in a week. Fleck coaches the first 2 drives like a moron. Anybody who’s watch Purdy on film or even just listened to Mickey say he gets flustered easily would have known the way to beat us was force Purdy to be a playmaker. He can’t do it. Also, Fleck keeping Tanner Morgan in was bad coaching.

a good NU staff would have played smothers. He brings a dimension that can help mask your o line issues. A good staff also makes adjustments after the other teams backup QB comes in.  The fact that PJ coaches 3/4 of this game like an idiot yea STILL outsmarted us in the end is all you need to know about the Rhule hire.

and yet social media is still overflowing with folks who want MJ to be named full-time head coach... what am I missing here?

He says he wants to be physical in the trenches. We aren’t. But. He says it. Just like the previous 4 failed coaches here. It’s a great talking point.

You have no idea who it is! Quit saying it’s not Mickey if you have proof care to share but you or anyone on this board knows jack about the coaching search. Vague post like this does nothing to support your claims

Also, if it were Mickey it would have been announced by now. Also, the U doesn't spend money on a long drawn-out search using a firm and land on Mickey. No firm lands on Mickey. He's just not qualified and this is big boy stuff. Trev would be committing career suicide to land on MJ if he is not a home run and there just isn't near enough evidence to support him being a homerun.
