It's funny because listening to the OWH guys on this week's Pick 6 Podcast, they all think the D is going to be the strength of the team, especially early in the season.

If that's the case, where do we go to pick up our Natty?

Hoping it’s some personal reason. Can’t think of any other reason....Or hope it’s no other reason.

Caveman wouldn't do us wrong, I just know it. He'll be there sacking QB's Aug 31.

I have stated several times that a scholarship doesn't have to mean a full-ride. I think we could start there, even though many would cry foul on that notion. You want to be on the bowling team at Nebraska? Ok great we can pay for 1/4 or 1/2 of your schooling...idk how people see that as a bad idea. The reality is that football is king (by a massive margin). We can talk about fairness, but that is straying from the reality of the situation. Football just requires a lot more scholarships so we try and fit in random women's sports to equal that amount while cutting those same sports for men. The way it sits there is no easy solution unfortunately.

Then the men can play football if they want a scholarship, as that is where the most scholarships are available for them.

Some of you will kill me for these statements.

I would never associate great with Stanley Morgan. I think he is a fine player, but thats it.

A scout for the Raider's that I know personally told me this about Stanley: "Great amongst subpar competition, average to non-existent against the best in the conference" And I agree. He was hardly doubled-teamed. Teams did not fear him. He is slow in pads, and cannot beat a good DB one on one. He does have tremendous hands though. His routes were flat at times, and he struggled to sell them. Nebraska ran plays to isolate him, and he could not separate.  His last really good game against good competition was in 2017 against Oregon. Stanley worked well underneath but it was hardly game changing type play. So that sounds bleak considering that he had 1,000 yards last year. This Offense will work better with true WR's who have 500 yards receiving but have the ability to fly right by you, because that is what opens up the offense for the Duck R position.

Not controversial at all, just fact.

This is just me spitballing but I wonder if there is any way that they can snag O'Connor from UVA?  UVA has kinda spiraled down a bit since winning the title in 2015....missing regionals the past 2 years.  It looks like he's making about $700k/year which is honestly probably underpaying him quite a bit.  I wonder what happens if Nebraska plops down a mil ball+ in front of him...Would be an absolute coup to snag him.

My thought is that its O'Connor. Moos seems to love the Nebraska ties and he was on the short list. The only thing I can't rectify is why O'Connor would be interested in coming here, unless he would just like something new, we throw more money at him, and/or he has any desire to get back to the midwest.  He's young enough that the move makes a bit of sense. It's a long shot and I am not sure I would do it if I'm O'Connor, but if there is any truth to the "trifecta of home run hires," rumors, this one seems to fit.

  6. I wonder if it may go hand and hand with the traveling hat idea. It may be more just to get the brand out there. Get kids mentioning Nebraska in their high schools. Maybe they have no interest, maybe they aren't going to come here. But maybe that up and coming sophomore with distant ties that is coming into his own is more apt to listen next year when Nebraska comes calling? And maybe not, maybe we are just shotgunning offers and praying, but it seems this staff definitely has high valued "targets" that they spend a lot of time an resources on, so I do feel there are various tiers of value placed on the offers.

As you said this type of situation has been a criticism of previous coaches.  I was wondering if that stayed the same or it changes when we like the coach better.

I am not sure, at least for me, if I am less critical because I like the coach better or because I currently have far more faith in him to fill the vacancy while managing to overall roster with competence.  I am certain that in the past, these would hurt because it was so difficult to get great athletes here in the first place, there was very little chance of development of sub par athletes once here, therefor losing a great athlete and hoping to fill that spot in the future with a sub par athlete that had really worked hard and developed beyond his initial potential was a losing proposition. I am no longer near as concerned w/ either our ability to get great athletes here nor our ability to develop the less than great ones into something better. In that regard, at this point I still have trust that, while losing a CJ Smith is not ideal and may still hurt, the chances of it not killing us are a lot greater under the current regime, which is probably also why I like them more.

In a few months when he is streaking down the sideline against Ohio State for an 80 yard TD no one will give a crap he probably smoked some dope in his dorm room in June.

Most of us don't care even now.  I understand the "pattern," argument and in 2019 we are all hypervigilant to not overlook early signs of issues and make excuses, I understand that as well. Like it or not, pot is part of many cultures in the US, elite athletic culture included.  Like it or not, one of the reasons many coaches don't like coaching at the NCAA level is because they are expected to help "raise" these boys. Our coaches know and gladly accept the responsibility of turning these young men into grown a$$ men while they are here. This is part of it. This is kids not making the best decisions in all situations. This is juvenile lapse in judgement.  Scott will talk with him, remind him that this is why it is, "dont smoke at all,"  instead of, "don't smoke most of the time," assign some sort of punishment and after that it's up to Mo. The porn case will be its own separate issue, if something comes from that Scott will have to come up with his own punishment for that.  As far as being a UNL student goes, this minor pot deal is really Mo's first strike. You don't get dismissed for a first strike.

  9. Miles was gone last August. The fact that anybody thinks that the way this season has gone would be enough to force an AD's hand to reconsider that baffles the mind. There is literally no way that it could feasibly go from here that would set in motion any deviation from the plan laid forth the minute the 1 year extension was given.  We will lose to Wisconsin today and, hopefully at that point those that are wondering 'if we win an NCAA title would it save Miles?" can finally rest easy knowing that miracle isn't riding in on a white horse this season.

Is there an echo in here?

Sorry. No idea what is going in there. I posted at 7:30 this morning on the way out the door and didn’t come back online for over 6 hours so can’t for the life of me figure out the repeat post. I’m guessing the internet thought it was such an incredible thought it had to run it twice.

  11. Serious question. If this was just a picture of the act, would people be as upset about it? I feel like because it was a video it is being judged more harshly. Like, if his friend had sent him a picture of his ex giving a blowie and he had downloaded it to save to his phone and then, when she contacts him 2 years later remembers he has this picture saved in his cloud, grabs it and fires it back at her. Maybe it’s the same. But it feels like the video aspect of this is causing a few more people to pick up a few more stones?

"If they fire me, they're still going to pay me. … I'm still a millionaire," Miles told Goodman. "So I've got that going for me."

Time for people to start raging about Miles for saying that like they did when Bo said "If they want to fire me, go ahead."?

Meh. Tim has always been a different interview than Bo. In fact, this entire season he’s been praised for not shying away from media and being honest and forthcoming about everything from his team, his failures, and his job security. That he continues to be blunt doesn’t surprise me and I’d be hard pressed to take him to task for transparency at this point.

Good to know that having pause about believing this new assault allegation automatically means I probably look at child porn pics. I’ll try to do better to model  my character after you.
