  1. Horrible play call on 3rd down. Can't be mad at the players though.
  2. Win or lose, it's just nice to see both sides of the ball play with heart in the 4th quarter with a respectable performance for most of the rest of the game. As a fan, that's all I can ask for.
  3. The epitome of this era of husker football: almost there until choking at the defining moment.
  4. You said that? When? There is literally a thread dedicated to this topic. I was one of the only ones I saw debunking this whole "Papuchis climbing out of Bos shadow" garbage. Sorry, haven't been around much till tonight. A few pages ago when everyone was ripping TA (and he's played horribly) I said our defense bore a lot of responsibility for this game, not just the offense.
  5. Like I said. The defensive philosophy of our former coach lives on in his DC.
  6. Our offense hasn't played well, especially TA, but the defense cannot be absolved of its responsibility. They did give up 24 points in the first half. Being on track to give up 48 points in a game is not going to help you beat many good opponents.
  7. The problem is that we've seen this before with established coaches and multiple teams. The mindset of this team is poisoned.
  8. Armstrong is not a good QB. I feel like he's actually regressed.
  9. The LJS needs to fire Sipple. He's totally irresponsible and unprofessional in his coverage of Nebraska and Pelini. That's pretty harsh. You don't have to agree with Sipple, I normally don't, but it's a GOOD thing to have a different voice sometimes. Are his opinions or analysis always correct? No. But calling for a newspaper to fire a journalist who's main purpose is writing opinion pieces about sports? C'mon. The whole point of the sports section is to spark some water-cooler discussion with you and your coworkers or with your buddies. Sipple has demonstrated time and again that he is incapable of rational thought or objectivity when covering the program and Pelini. It has nothing to do with having a different opinion. Oh no, I think it does. You just don't agree with his opinion. That's the difference. The inability to form a coherent, objective analysis is not the hallmark of a professional journalist. At least it never used to be.

  12. I'm sure the local Youngstown sports media could use a syncophant to go along with their new coach.
  13. Hell no. The guy is a complete douche.
  14. I find it highly unlikely that SE would have been foolish enough to not have this process well underway before he fired Pelini. Surely he knows as well as us how wonderfully not planning ahead worked out in 2003.
  15. I agree with option 2 as well. There is too much behind-the-scenes work to be done for this not to have been laid out well in advance of Pelini's ouster. Not to mention that Riley and Bielema have nothing in common personality-wise, and I believe Riley's unifying personality was one of the primary reasons he was hired. No way they went after Bielema IMO.
  16. I believe Perlman is telling the truth. SE clearly had his man in mind before Bo was officially fired. At this level, you don't approach someone and have all the contracts negotiated, drafted, and signed in 4 days. SE prepared for this well in advance.
  17. No way. He is 93-80 at Oregon State. If true, this seems like a collosal failure on first glance.
  18. Interesting angle, except that Tressel is not currently a coach and thus would have little use for any of ours. But someone ought to check to see if Youngstown State is looking for a new golf coach just in case. Tressel is the president of a university that is without a head football coach.. I would assume YSU has an AD for that type of job. Correct, but a decision I'm sure JT would be heavily involved in considering his background, no? I'm sure you're right, but I doubt it would be necessary for him, as University President, to go visit coaching candidates. At least if I was a President, I would just send my errandboy AD for that type of thing.
  19. Someone early just randomly posted "230" earlier tonight in this thread I noticed that too. Seemed odd at the time.
