  1. I stopped reading when somebody said Nebraska wouldn't struggle in the SEC.

Nebraska has not played well in several games this year. Play like we did against Northwestern or Purdue, two of the worst power 5 teams in the country, we easily lose against most teams in that conference. Posters here seem to have a lot of faith in a team that hasn't won anything for 15 years.

Unless Nebraska can prove themselves next week, we're simply a product of our schedule.

  2. Pelini said he and the coordinators are staying in Lincoln this week but the rest of the coaches will be out recruiting. They'll be back Friday night so some quick trips.

He said WR and LB are "the two biggest concerns" right now.

Rounding out this class with Stanley Morgan and two quality LBs would be perfect.

I think Ole Miss should be behind all one-loss teams. They have two losses.

You have to reward them for actually beating a good team, unlike Nebraska or Ohio State.

And, ask yourself, if some of those one loss teams played Ole Miss who would win? They would certainly beat Nebraska or Ohio state, so I have no problem with their ranking right now.

No, that is your OPINION that they would beat Nebraska and OSU. Nobody knows unless they play.
The point of that post wasn't the wording I used. To rephrase, Ole Miss is a better team than many 1-loss teams, particularly those mentioned above. Upsets happen, but Ole Miss would be favored.

The main point was to disagree with the point that they should be behind all one-loss teams. They should be rewarded for beating a good team (a team better than any team we've beaten in a decade), while Nebraska, Ohio State and Duke need to beat a quality opponent to be ranked in front of them.

Get settled in for two years of incredibly hilarious bullsh#t. It'll go something like this - Republicans will vote to repeal Obamacare and X number of other things, Obama will veto, Republicans will scream about Obama not compromising and working with them, rinse, repeat, and it will go on and on and on and on and on.

None of that is anything new, they've been doing that for a while now.

This strategy has won them control of the House and Senate.

Blame the voters, they're the ones that reward such behavior. If it didn't work they would've abandoned it by now. This will continue, with even more political stunts(shutting down the government, filing a dumb lawsuit, etc.) over the next two years.

Ultimately, it seems like it won them a nice self-given pat on the back for two years and then what, exactly?

That's just it, that strategy seems to work for local elections like the House and Senate. But there isn't a viable Republican candidate to run for the Presidency in 2016.

The party will probably eat themselves alive, again, during the next presidential primary season.

. . . Remember those warnings actually they're still issuing them in most political races that Obamacare would cost millions of jobs, send the country into recession and send budget deficits soaring?

In fact, job growth picked up smartly when the big features of the law went into effect 10 months ago. And the federal deficit fell to $483 billion in the fiscal year that just ended, less than a third of its $1.5 trillion peak in George W. Bush's last budget year.

    . . .

It's a damned shame that there appears to be no political consequences for the incredible series of lies that the ACA opponents spun.
The problem is many people believe that the doom-gloom predictions will eventually come true. Voters who thought that way previously still think that way now when they show up to the voting booth.
  8. #1 Mississippi State struggled with 5-4 UAB, giving up 600 yards of offense, over 400 passing yards, and never led by more than two scores.

#2 Florida State barely beat unranked 5-4 Oklahoma State and unranked 5-4 North Carolina State, giving up 36 points per game, 450+ yards per game, and giving away several turnovers.

#3 Auburn barely put away 4-4 South Carolina.

#5 Oregon almost lost to 2-7 Washington State giving up 600 yards of offense and only scoring 31 points against one of the worst defenses in the country.

#6 Alabama only beat 4-5 Arkansas by one point, gaining only 227 yards of offense against the 40th ranked defense in the country.

#9 Kansas State only beat 2-6 Iowa State by 4 points, only winning on the last drive after giving up 28 straight unanswered points.

#10 Notre Dame struggled quite a bit against 4-5 North Carolina, winning by only one touchdown and giving up 43 yards and 500+ yards, with 3 turnovers.

#11 Georgia lost to 4-3 Florida today, giving up 38 points to one of the worst offenses in the entire country.

#12 Arizona has struggled and barely squeaked out victories against 2-6 UTSA, 5-3 Nevada, and 4-4 Cal.

#13 Baylor, with the top offense in the country, only managed 27 points and 318 yards against West Virginia, even though they forced 3 turnovers and WVU having the 61st ranked defense.

#16 Ohio State lost with 3 turnovers and only 300 yards of offense to unranked Virginia Tech, who lost to East Carolina, Georgia Tech, Pitt, Miami, and Boston College.

#17 Utah lost to 2-7 Washington State, and barely beat 4-3 Oregon State in two overtimes.

#18 Oklahoma nearly lost to 3-5 Texas, with only 29 yards of offense in the first half, and 232 yards total.

I didn't go any further down than that because you get the point. Ugly, inconsistent games happen to everyone - even multiple times per season! That's not to say we don't have plenty of room for progress, it's not to say that we're even doing great at being consistent or executing at a high level at all times. It's simply to say that executing a consistent 4 quarter complete football game isn't exactly a common occurrence for ANYONE, and while it's absolutely something to strive for, it's not something to call for firing coaches or a week's worth of whining when it doesn't happen every week.

I get your anti-meltdown points, and I find them annoying as well.

But if Nebraska had to play any of those teams next week we would probably lose. I also don't blame Beck like most people, although I wasn't sure about throwing late into the game like we did. I blame our QB who really struggled today throwing the ball. His lack of development in the passing game is really concerning.

  9.

Burtch tore his ACL in practice and Jamal tore his ACL during the McNeese St game.

I believe Jamal tore his Achilles tendon.

My mistake. Achilles tendon would be correct.

Either way, the point was to show some of the depth issues we've faced at WR :wasted . As a group, they've played pretty well considering the injuries at the position.

  10. I think it's time to go back under center for these two, they can't seem to get on the same page with the shotgun and the hand clapping isn't helping the situation. It might throw Wisky off for a little bit trying to figure out what we're doing. Our entire offensive playbook can't be based on shotgun only and with Cross probably getting more snaps it only makes sense to run more power football formations. Do more power football, utilize the TE more, and I think we throw Wisky off some. We can always stretch the field laterally with Newby if we need to do that. I just don't want to see us go away from the run and keep up with this shotgun stuff since it seems to be causing a lot of problems.

They tried that at the end of the game and there was still a snap issue, we fumbled the ball and were lucky to recover.

  11. Thought the committee did a great job. Probably would have switched Ole Miss and Alabama.

Ole Miss beat Alabama. Also, Alabama doesn't have a great victory yet. They struggled against a decent WVU team and lost to the only other decent team they've played. Of course, they'll have their opportunities, but as of now I think Alabama at 6 (or even lower ) is fair.

As a whole, I think that the playoff will end up exactly how most thought (feared?). Two SEC teams will get in, along with FSU and Pac-12/Big 10 champ if they have 1 loss (by virtue of the conference championship). The SEC West will probably cannibalize themselves, making it difficult to end up with 3 teams in the playoff, ditto to the Big 12. Let's just hope that the two SEC teams that get in don't both with their semifinal game, if matched in opposing brackets. If we had an all SEC championship game, the hype train will go into overdrive and the sport will be harder than ever to watch.

  12.

He made a couple nice tackles, another interception and don't think he has been beaten deep as of late.

    Thoughts?

Gerry didn't get beat deep against Rutgers but he came off his WR when Nova scrambled in the 1st quarter. The WR caught the pass and then weaves thru the D for the 70 yard pass. Bo was pretty upset when that happened.

Exactly. But he does tend to recover quickly from his mistakes. Against Northwestern, shortly after a ticky-tack personal foul call he intercepted a deep pass. Last week, after leaving his WR to tackle Nova (big mistake) he had an interception later in the game.

I'll say that outside of that mistake, I haven't noticed anything bad. His coverage is pretty good and he's shown some nice ball skills.

  13.

According to this, I think the polls have done a pretty good job of ranking teams. The 1 loss teams that haven't beat anybody (Nebraska, Duke, etc.) are not ranked as high due to no quality wins. 1 loss teams with quality wins (Ole Miss, Oregon, Auburn) have earned their ranking with some quality wins.

While it's good for Nebraska to pad the win totals in the Big 10 West division, the lack of quality teams might hurt us year in and year out as far as rankings and SOS is concerned. It'll be interesting to see how SOS plays a roll in the committee's rankings as we move forward.

The problem is the higher up teams that have "quality wins" only have "quality wins" because the SEC is OVERHYPED and every team is pertty near ranked!

I agree, in part. Ole Miss deserves credit for beating Alabama, a team that is NOT overhyped.

I think early in the season victories against Texas A&M, a not very good team, inflated the rankings for many of the teams in the SEC.

  15. Official is in quotation marks because I don't have any paperwork to show it and I'm not part of THE ADMINISTRATION,

    but,

the board is trending more towards screenshots and videos and gifs of things, which are a tremendous resource, so I think it would be an efficient use of database space and beneficial to have a one-stop location for board members to make requests of things they're looking for or would like to see. The number of board users with the access and ability to help everyone out is plenty so don't be shy!

I guess I'll just throw in a gif or something to kick it off.

    giphy.gif

I still say this should've stayed a touchdown.

  16. Chance he stay? Yeah bouts as good a chance as u gettin ma's secret cornbread recipe!

He gone, ain't no loyalty in dat Bros face, he in it fo what randy Gregory can get no guessin

Dollar bill yall, or #6 crystal ball in da case..yeah don't take no eichorst salary to figga dat shiggidy out

You're quickly becoming the most entertaining poster on this board.

But I don't think it's a question of loyalty, anybody who is offered top draft pick money (Randy is going to be somewhere in the top 10, likely top 5) shouldn't risk injury. Go get paid and provide for your family. Can't knock a guy for that.
