OK here goes: Although I'm born and bred Texan, I've been a Husker fan my whole life. Even though I'm in Texas, I'm closer to Lincoln than College Station or Austin. So I consider myself a Husker and have seen them win 2 NCs and countless home and road games dating to 1990. My wife became rabid after we got married so that makes two of us. We both graduated from a D2 Texas school, but we still follow the Skers and even go to a few games a year. IS THERE ANYTHING WEIRD ABOUT THAT? Reason I ask is there's this chick at my son's school, she's a mom and NU grad, and she's always jokingly giving us grief for being Husker fans, like you've got to graduate from there or be from there to be eligible to be a fan. What pissed me off is another lady there said that this chick said we were "wannabes". I felt like calling her on it and telling her to kiss off. Arrogance. Should I just forget about being Husker fan and follow the TU Longhorns because I happen to be in the same state? I wonder how many of the 85K packed in Memorial Stadium each game are actually FROM Nebraska or GRADUATES of UNL? ???????

The defense sucks, fair enough. I've got serious questions about the offense, too. Which quality opponent have they racked up yards on, other than against the USC scrubs in the 4th quarter? Let's check our offense against Mizzoo, Texas, KU, heck even KSU. I don't buy all this "but the offense is OK" b.s. Allow me to clarify a few things: 1. No man is a bigger Nebraska fan than me. 2. Callahan will lose a minimum of 4 games per year from now on. Mark that one down. And if you want to bet a stack of Omaha steaks on it, I'm in for all comers. 3. Just because your coach sucks doesn't mean you keep him "because we can't get anyone better." Balony. This is Nebraska. 4. I'm all about patience. But patience with progress. Winning the Big 12 North last year when there was no other legitimate team means zilcho. It's not that much better this year, but KSU and Mizzoo are improving, and of course, that means we WILL NOT win the north under any circumstance. 5. You Callahan supporters are brainwashed - hook, line, and sinker. You've come to accept mediocrity, which is what we were trying to avoid when we canned the .750 coach.
