  1. Gotta love that A&M Coach, why do you not give it to Lane! That's 2 weeks in a row!
  2. If this time of possesion trend continues and our defense will be getting really tired which scares the crap outta me!
  3. Our offense controlled the 1st half, why can we not ever get anything going in the 2nd half?
  4. This team cannot pass and yet we cannot stop their pass! WTF!
  5. Again, I have the greatest respect for Osborne and there is absolutely no way you can compare any coach from the 80's-90's to today. Hell, look at Florida St. and Bowden. There is a reason Osborne retired when he did. There are so many changing in recruiting and scholarship guidelines it's not even funny. Not only that but I would venture to say a top #15 team that Osborne beat wouldn't even be ranked in the top #25 today. The competition has evened out considerably, which was one of the goals of the NCAA. My comparison came in the complaining about Callahan's coaching against USC and Osborne against top ranked teams. So fine Osborne only lost to highly ranked teams, well short of our National Championship teams I would put USC up there and say they would probably smoke most teams Osborne lost to. Although the statement he lost to only highly ranked teams is untrue, ie Iowa State in 92, whenever Colorado first beat us. The competition today is totally different thea then. If you never ever criticized Osborne, his play calling, his teams, or anything then fine throw all the rocks you want at any coach in the NCAA. If you were ever frustrated or criticized Osborne, don't be throwing rocks just yet. I don't care if you like Callahan as I'm not a huge supporter but we are definately better than the last 4-5 years. We at least have a chance! Hell if we would have played USC in any year previous event the most ardent supporters wouldn't have thought we had a chance, and this board proves we have hope!
  6. First off let me say I think Osborne was a great coach and a class guy but let's step back for a moment and think about this. Osborne inherits a National Championship caliber team and takes 20 years to win the National Champoinship, yes I know 83. He regular was whipped by Oklahoma, Colorado improved and started winning, and seemed to always be "outcoached" in a bowl game. I'd say go look at some of the bowl performances over the year. Until he started winning the titles I think most of Husker Nation could have been on the sideline to call the plays as we all knew what was coming. Our Blackshirts really only applied to our front 7 as our defensive backfield was routinely thrashed by the passing game. I know I remember a few calls for Osborne to get the boot throughout his tenure also. In 04' Callahan took over a team that was going to the level of Missouri in my opinion. He's had calls for his head, criticized he's passing to much, criticizes he's running to much, criticized for being predictable, not being able to gameplan, not being able to adjust during the game. These are all honestly things I've heard about Osborne during his years! There is no question we are a better than than we were in any year from 1998-2003 (yes I know 2001 was a National Title shot but take away Crouch and we were crap). Things are going the right direction and I actually have faith in Callahan. I will say the loss last night was dissappointing but I must be in the minority in thinking we had the right game plan but did not execute. We make mistakes! I don't care what the gameplan was our boys needed to be flawless, and they weren't and I still love them. For those of you saying Callahan played not to lose I think that's horsesh**. He put togethor a gameplan to try and keep their offense off the field and give our VERY thin defense a chance to rest and not be in a track race that we were going to lose. Step back and think of the mistakes we made and then the mistakes they did not make! They had "0" turnovers which we needed! Okay I'm stepping down and Go Big Red!
  7. I actually think the play calling was correct! Look at what Texas did to USC last year. Young didn't throw much but beat him with his feet. If Texas can't get guys open with their team how the hell should we! Like people said before we need mistake free football. The holding call on a drive where we were moving it killed us, Lucky's fumble on our own 25 hurts badly, if either grixby or jones come away with the football they score 6 and all of the sudden not only is it close but we could be leading. Say we do throw the ball more, USC gets the ball more on offense and we lose by 30! Then everyone yelps that we should have used more ball control! BTW, if you didn't notice our receivers were rarely open and Taylor had minimal time to throw the ball. So yeah let's pass, kill Taylor, and make him throw into coverage. Remember last year when Taylor didn't have time, I do and it wasn't pretty. As much as we hate to believe it, we are not as talented as USC. We do not have guys that have been in the "system" as long as USC. There's no question we are not there yet but a helluva lot closer than 1998-2003. If you think the option would have worked just reply the few times we tried getting to the corner. Anyone bashing Callahan needs to go back through the 80's and early 90's and remember some of the play calling we all bitched about with Osborne, who not lives in Husker immortality by the way. Or how about our infamous defenses that had no chance against the pass. There were definately some years in there you could chalk up the loss to either Oklahoma or Colorado, and definately the bowl game. Anyone remember Georgia Tech in 1990! That was embarrasing. This was a game we could have won but as many people stated it needed to be mistake free and it wasn't! And if anyone knows how to freakin stop 2 wide receivers that are better than 3/4's of the receivers in the NFL than you are int he wrong business! GO BIG RED!!!
  8. I already have 2 tickets for the colorado game but my family will all be in town for turkey day so I need 2 more tickets for the game! If anyone has any available or information for any please let me know. Thanks
  9. Greg McDermott at UNI would be an excellent choice! The man can coach, is a great personality and is exactly what you would think of a Nebraskan to be. We need McDermott but it would honestly probably be pretty hard to get him, but if we could that would be awesome!
  10. So he had pictures of Cal on his website. He also had pictuers and information about Nebraska on it also. As we all know nothing is certain until the paper is signed and after more thought about family maybe he truly began having doubts. Who are we to judge that or not? Can we but upset that we lost a good recruit, sure. Should we begin saying he has no integrity, and if true by his accounts sending "hate mail"? I would say absolutely not. If we want to pride ourselves as having the best fans then we must ALWAYS act with integrity. Some of the things said aren't above something we would rip a Buff fan apart for. If I was a recruit and heard of these types of things happening to other recruits, I'm not sure I would be interested. As fans I think we can have an influence on the exprerience of recruits, both positive and negative. Chanting their names at games makes them feel welcomed, calling out a recruit that is upset by hate mail, and we are upset because he has a Cal logo on his website is going to leave a bad taste in their mouth. I do know that kind words may take awhile to leave an impression and can be forgotten quickly, but any harsh unkind words are rarely relinquished. P.S. I do think Freeman's decommittment speaks for itself in the lack of integrity. GBR!!!
  11. I for some reason am not upset by this at all. In looking at his High School year he had a fine season but it just seems like something is mising. How many highly touted H.S. or College quaterbacks blow it at the next level? Certainly more than make it. I wish him all the luck in the world but I honestly do not see him succeeding. As a quaterback you better have a ton of confidence and ability to get your whole team behind you. I can't speak on his leadership but it certainly seems that the confidence criteria is lacking. I'd rather have a 2* Zach Taylor that will develop and knows what hard work is. Good luck Josh and try not to get snot bubbles on our linebackers!!!
  12. An alumni weekend or dinners for various classes would actually be a perfect political move, take the pressure away from the administration, and not be that expensive. Say you have 750 ex-players at around $50 a plate you are looking at $37,500. Now that's a lot to me but a drop in the bucket compared to 65 million, and though I hate to agree with former, you have enough ex-players with plenty of cash that the money you spend would simply become an investment that brings in a couple million. Actually if I was Pedersen and taking enough heat on the project not being funded yet I'd pay the $38,000 from my own pocket hoping for the return on investment. He could more than make up for it in bonuses if it worked out. Now that being said, the administration has to do it correctly, Pedersen needs to eat a little crow and apologize but there's no reason it couldn't be done. Ex-players and administration needs to realize this program isn't great because of the option or power I. It's great because of the passion, quality kids, coaches that truly care about their players, and desire for everyone to reach the same goal of not only championships but team unity.
  13. I would have to say that ex-players, coaches, and the wonderful Mr. Pedey are all at fault. This discussion reminds me of a couple of kids on the playground telling the teacher the other one started it. The solution isn't that complicated, mabye logistiacally but someone like the AD should be able to put it togethor. Create a once a month ex-player banquet and invite players from a 5 year period back to interact with the players, coaches, and see the new things going on in the North Stadium. If the coaches won't find the time, shame on them and if the players won't the same goes there.
  14. Did we do things wrong in the K-State game both on the field and the coaches? Sure but does that mean we didn't do anything right? I don't think so. Negative people can always find something negative in anything. Hell the 95 Nebraska team let the hated Gators Score in the Fiesta Bowl, what the hell was that about? Attitudes are infectious. Whether they are postive or negative. I would at least like to see some objectivity from EVERYONE! Nothing is ever that bad and nothing is ever perfect. Take a peek at the ever loved Bobby Bowden. He has lost 3 games to "unranked" teams. Who's fault is that, you certainly cannot attack his coaching history. Anyway, it was an awesome win. All teams HATE Nebraska and will do anything they can to beat us. I would say a team that is a 5 on the talent scale all the sudden becomes about a 7 just because beating Nebraska cures a lot of ills. Great job to the players, Awesome job to the special teams. They certainly saved our bacon. Now let's hope the team gets disciplined and puts a major beating on the criminals in Boulder! GBR!
  15. I wasn't sure about this team and their capabilities but I honestly think if we get some experience and confidence we might dominate in a year or two!!!
