  1. I'm sure this was brought up earlier in the thread but I don't have the heart to look through it so my apologies if this has all been repeated ad nausem.

TCU's playcalling was horrific down the stretch and Briles fell right into a pi$$ing match of trying to show Sanders how smart he was as a play caller versus chewing up clock. TCU's defense last year was ranked in the 90s (not those 90s lol) and they lost a ton of guys off that team.

On the Colorado side, this is what you get with a Sean Lewis offense. They are going to go ultra high tempo and sling it all over the place. I was admittedly skeptical of Sanders and still am but he looked like a cool customer out there last week.

This game will be a fun chess match to me because Colorado's strength will be going against the best part of Nebraska's D and I hope to heck Nebraska will not be trying to air it out a ton versus CU's secondary. It's too bad that chop blocking is going away because in the before times, Nebraska would be sending WRs at Hunter and getting physical with him and chopping. Reimer and the LB crew better eat their Wheaties because they are going to need to corral Edwards coming out the backfield. That kid has some serious juice.

It'll be interesting to see what happens if Nebraska can get up and really churn clock versus CU. We all saw it a ton during the Frost era where a team would drive down the field on the defense, the offense would take over and go 3 and out because they were pressing. We would all grumble about helping out the defense and I'd like to see Nebraska put that shoe on the other foot.

Nebraska should have a (and I can't believe I get to type this) a nice edge at ST. I'm happy this game is also an early kickoff versus say, a night game when that place would really be rocking. All in all, I'm jacked for this week. I can't stand Colorado. Never have. Never will. I try not to get very invested in the games but there is something about Colorado that really gets the juices flowing. I want Nebraska to bludgeon this team with the run. Can they? Tune in Saturday!

  2. Interesting thought but would be pretty bananas if this happened. Athletics is certainly the most visible part of the university but it is a bucket of water in the ocean known as the university operating budget. It's one thing to be an AD at UNL, it is a whole nother ball of wax to be the President of the entire Nebraska education system.

    That's a budget of 3.3 billy, with a 'B'.

The most feasible of the 3 is certainly John Cook taking over at AD at some point.

Jordan Larson taking over as head VB coach having zero HC experience when there is a slew of ex-NU players who have become stud coaches would be pretty wild.

  3. I've been doing this for the past few years and have gradually worked up my time to where I'll end my shower with standing under the coldest water I can stand for a minute. I know it isn't quite the same as a cold plunge and I suppose I could fill up my bathtub with cold water if I really wanted but I'm too lazy. I do notice that I feel a bit sharper when I get out of the shower after running cold water. It definitely makes you wake up.

I think they both got 25 million each for this fight.  Crawford could be a 3 time undisputed champ if he moves up to 154.  Becoming a one time undisputed champ is great, becoming twice is masterful.  Charlo and Ennis both want that smoke from Crawford, good luck to that.

Ha, agreed. Glad to see Crawford and Spence both got a nice chunk of change for the fight. I guess we'll see what shakes out over the next few months eh?

With all these new teams joining the conference I wonder if Nebraska fans will still travel to watch them play?  I know we got a great fan base but buying tickets every time Nebraska has to go out west will get expensive.  I do believe that HC Matt Rhule can help us get back on track but we got to take baby steps before we run.  Now do I think we can win a NCG that's for a different time to answer bc we aren't even there yet so I'm not even going to entertain that idea. Just have to take things day by day and get better at the small things that can lead to big things.

I think at least for the first few years Nebraska should travel pretty well as a fanbase as the novelty will be there to see some stadiums Nebraska hasn't visited in a while (this goes ever more so if these trips coincide with being later in the year i.e. California in November sounds pretty great as someone living here in Nebraska). There is a pretty big contingent of Big Red fans on the West Coast and I'm sure they are pretty excited to have the opportunity to see Nebraska on the West Coast more frequently.

  6. Absolute destruction by Bud. What a whoopin.

It's among the best performances I've ever seen in my lifetime.  Arguably the best.  Absolute masterclass.

What's left for Crawford?  40 fights into his career it seems like he's beaten anyone that could conceivably challenge him, and he's never really been challenged.  Nobody has been close to his level.  Ennis?  Charlo??  He'd make those guys look mediocre too.

Not sure on who's next right? Does anyone want to see Bud fight Keith Thurman? Charlo is a reasonable guess although that would be a while since Charlo fights Canelo later this year. Perhaps Tszyu although that doesn't really do anything for Bud unless it's for a ton of money. I'd surprised if Spence doesn't activate his rematch clause although Bud would get to choose the weight class they fight at. The public probably doesn't have much desire to see part 2 it would still most likely be the most lucrative fight for Bud. He's already 35 and has just now been making 'mega' money. I think he made $10mm against Avanesyan and I know he was guaranteed $10mm against Spence plus PPV. It looks like there were at least 700k PPV buys which is a pretty good number all things considered. The other thing is if Spence is looking to wind things down, getting another mega payday is probably a good idea.

Of course, trading your closer to a division rival that's ahead of you in the standings means.....?????

So, when does football season start again?
