  1. I get a lot of joy watching the Lakers win.   But man there is just something special about watching the team I hate lose in embarrassing fashion on their home court.   Man that is just ... wow.

And at what point does someone on the c's staff say 'you know what? we suck at the 3 tonight, let's attack the rim on every possession'?   There offense was awful, even more so when they can't hit the ocean from the boat.

He's far from my favorite announcer ever but this is making me laugh. He's the play-by-play guy...what exactly are you expecting from him other than giving the direct details of what's happening?

I think my biggest 'beef' with him, and most announcers is how over the top animated they are for events in the second quarter.   It's not a game winning three at the buzzer, it's a open look 3 with 14 seconds on the shot clock, calm down on the major catch phrases and histrionics.

You said "not just done for the lulz or gay innuendos or jokes".  There are numerous shows/movies where they just have to have a gay couple, regardless of if it supports the plotline and is certainly not for laughs.  Same with having a person of color, etc.  I have no problem with any of those things but please have it serve a purpose to the plot.  Often times it does not, it just gets interjected into there bc that's the "woke af" society we live in.

Does it matter if it serves the purpose of the plot to have a  character be a minority or have a specific sexual orientation?   These characters can just be characters and not be plot devices.  I have minority people and gay people in my office, they are just around.  It can be part of a show and they can be whatever because that's what they are.   Thinking they need to move the plot in some direction is .... well not good.

That's a very large percentage of shows and movies now a days.  It's actually way overdone IMO.  I'm fine with some of it but not every damn show/movie has to be woke af, often times at the expense of the storyline.

what show(s) show healthy supporting loving male relationships, where they are not gay?

And I don't see any show being over done with 'woke AF' and I'm not sure what your definition of it is, but I'm not seeing anything that resembles that at all.

  5. The last few weeks of Ted Lasso have been absolutely amazing.   it's so rare to see images of healthy, supporting, loving male relationships portrayed on screen and not just done for the lulz or gay innuendo or jokes.

I really hope they can stick the landing with the series finale and I know this will be a show I'll be able to re-watch ad nauseam.   Just a great show from start to finish, great laughs, hit the emotions just right, but IMO never over the top.   Just a beautifully crafted show that once gone will create a large void in the market for smart, healthy comedy.

Or, and hear me out, the Celtics come back from down 0-3, win the series, and THEN the Nuggets trounce Boston. Huh? How fun would that be?

Not many outside of Miami and Denver would care about that finals but toss Boston into it and you have a whole bunch more people pulling for Denver cuz nobody in their right mind likes any Boston team.

I don't want to give those dirty c-bags any history.  being the 1st team to come back from 0-3 is just too much.  Regardless that Denver should curb stomp them in the Finals.   They only deserve pain and suffering and nothing that they can say we made history.

Remember that time when Defender had weeks and dozens worth of empassioned, active and heartfelt condemnations of the progressive agenda and how its moral decay (as evidenced by the occasional drag show and trans child and sexually-topical books in libraries) was leading to the ruin of America?

Then remember that time when confronted with the evidence of a morally reupgnant and rotten core at the center of the largest Christian organization in the country, and all he had to offer was a single post playing defense using the Bible to say that those people aren't real Christians?

I am so frigging happy right now, could barely even sleep last night. As a LONG suffering Nuggets fan, this has been an incredible season and playoff run. And to sweep the Lakers is just icing on the cake.

Enjoy it, this Nuggets team is a fantastic team and a with a very good front office that did a great job of staying the course and building this team over time and not rushing to make major overhauls year after year. I'll be rooting for them in the Finals against Miami.

There are others who think the Lakers wouldn't have gotten this far if they were still relying on Westbrook for anything.

We would have missed the playoffs completely with Westbrook on the team.   Even as we get deeper in the playoffs and getting some diminishing returns DLo, the added depth alone allowed the Lakers to make that run to even be a 7 seed.

Makes me wonder why they didn't just make sure that the right teams won

Writers strike.   It was supposed to be Lakers/Celtics...but now no one is around to manage the scripts and all hell is breaking lose.

I think Lebron is starting to show his age quite a bit, and who can blame him? I'm also wondering if the foot injury is worse than he's letting on, because his shooting is just bad, especially from 3s. I still continue to be impressed with AD, dude is a stud. And Austin Reeves is playing himself into one hell of a contract, that's for sure. I'm hopeful that it's over tonight, but I just can't see the Lakers being swept. I don't see this being a close game tonight; either the Lakers will run away with it and the Nuggets will kind of pack it in for one game, or the Nuggets get off to a hot start and the Lakers pull a Celtics and fold completely.

Lots of speculation is he should have had surgery when he hurt it, but he wanted to wait until the Lakers were eliminated from playoff contention or from the playoffs.  He's been getting a heavy dose of pain shots and just hoping he doesn't make it worse.  I would expect to see updates on him next week on having surgery.   Also heard AD as well.

I'm rooting for the gentleman's sweep.   Lakers win game 4, last home game of the season for them, get the W, then compete and lose game 5.

Finals will be Denver-vs-Miami, Miami is such a great story as well, with Jimmy and the underdogs/undrafted players.  But it's hard to imagine anyone being able to handle Denver, Miami really doesn't have a lot of size.  Jokic should feast well against them.

  12. The one bright spot from this playoffs, even though the Lakers won't win, I can rest easy knowing the dirty c-bags won't either.  And they just flat out quit.   Love to see it.

From I remember, Bellevue West had a terrible defense last year. Kaelin was a big reason BW’s offense was one of the best in Nebraska last year. Yes, he has great talent with him at the skill positions, but I don’t think you should hold the 7-4 record against Kaelin. Plus, all of their losses were against other great teams in Nebraska.

Coaches do use high school film to judge players, but they mainly use in person evaluations to give offers. The coaches must have seen something they like in Kaelin to give him an offer.

Terrible is probably a stretch, but they are average at best.   If coach Huff put half as much emphasis on defense as he does his offense, they would have 2-3 more titles.    And their schedule last year did them no favors.   I think out of their 11 games, 9 were against the other teams in the top 10 in Class A.   There was no easy weeks, and the team was worn out, especially with their average defense, and were forced to be perfect on offense to even have a chance.

  14. My daughter knew. She didn’t care.  She doesn’t care about the “sportsball or whatever” in general.  If I ask her specific questions about people at BellWest she always seems to know, just doesn’t share it because she finds it trivial.  But I do know a lot about people’s Insta and Snap stories.

You make a valid point about that.   The only counter is that I don’t believe anyone is talking about tax increases in these negotiations

Dems are by going on about making sure corporations and billionaires pay “their fair share”.  They are specifically talking about tax increases or more elimination of tax breaks.

I think the Lakers should still feel good about resurrecting this season, and the emerging players who already seem playoff tough rather than team chemistry problems.

But honestly, I'm seeing only one more season of the LeBron - AD window.  Kind of like I am with the Warriors core.

I agree, feel fairly confident next year is the ride off into the sunset for James and his time with the Lakers. He will go to whomever drafts/signs Bronny as a FA, taking the vet min if need be.  Not sure what to think of AD, maybe having him be the focal point and built around him will be good, but he’s so freak injury prone I’m hesitant to do that as well.   It’s LA, and if both leave, we will need to have someone that can be, and can handle being, the star of the team in one of the biggest markets with championship aspirations every season.  Not every superstar can handle that type of pressure.  And we can’t have Jeanie being frugal either.   If she can’t afford to field a competitive team in this market, she needs to do right for the Lakers and get an owner in who can afford it.

I'm all for reducing the deficit, it has to be the right cuts in the right programs, plus generating revenue with better and more simplified tax laws.  Reduce budget for non-payroll expenses in military spending, reduce spending in frivolous congressional investigations, improve the tax codes to generate more revenue and incetivize companies to bolster the middle-class.   I'm sure if I gave it more than 46 seconds worth of thought I could rattle off a handful more.

  18. Man, Denver is just too good.   Lakers got the benefit of being at home, energy from a crowd that wanted to be involved, home whistle, Jokic in foul trouble, Murray coming back down to earth in the second half and still couldn't overcome this Nuggets squad.  Hats off to them, clearly the better team.   Be another great story for Denver to win the title, built this team the right way, kept their stars, added key role players.   1 - 15 just a great squad with good guys.

Flores is a better athlete and was more likely to do whatever it took to win games whether using his arm or legs as needed. Flores reminded me of Noah Vedral in that regard.

Kaelin relied on the skill players to carry the team, but was effective when not rushed in the pocket. A slightly less athletic Chubba Purdy would be my comparison at this point.

Kaelin wsa also splitting time and IMO (I went to every game as my daughter cheers at BellWest) it looked like he was pressing to make an impression in his limited playing time.   He's had a lot of great talent around him and he has all the tools to be a big time QB.   This upcoming season he will be be QB1, which will give us a better idea of how good he can be.
