If you only think about Curry launching distant treys, you're not giving him his due. He has an incredibly long highlight reel of ball handling, drives and finishes, scoop shots and one-handers, and assists made possible by getting multiple opponents to over-guard him. Every opposing player and coach talks about how difficult and exhausting it is to guard Steph Curry, who continues to out-run much younger players when he doesn't have the ball. He's virtually unprecedented when it comes to spacing the floor, opening the game for other players. Klay, Wiggins, and Poole often have their own 20+ point games. Steph has all this leverage because they fear his 3 point shot, but it's not just about the 3s. That's why he's a lot more revolutionary than Ray Allen or Kyle Korver. Fact is, at age 35 Curry is actually playing the best ball of his life.

Not even a little bit, but his uncanny ability to stretch the floor to darn near midcourt and his ability to hit incredibly difficult shots to darn near half court is what's changing the game.   He's an all-around great PG, and one of the best off the ball players this league has ever seen.   But those two skills aren't what created players taking ill-advised 3s, settling to dribble at the three point line and take a step back three, players to feel open at the logo.  Those are all because of Steph, and I'm not sure it's good for the game that other people are doing that.  I'm good, and have thoroughly enjoyed watching Steph do that, I think it's an awful possession when Trae Young does it, or when LBJ does it etc.   I see guys who shoot at or less than 30% jacking up 3s early in the possession and think that's a wasted possession and it happens every game with every team.

Yeah, the flopping to sell fouls is an NBA-wide thing, and Steph is far from the biggest actor. Warriors just lost a last minute possession on a Laker thespian job that even the announcers mocked.

I read this morning that a couple international leagues gave refs the power to call a technical on blatant flop attempts, and that has really curbed the practice. I think flops deserve a T far more than most frustration gestures and taunts.

I was just having a discussion about the flops, and how much it's impacting the the game.   I suggested something like the L2M Report, but for the entire game.   Have retired refs (a panel of 3-4 watching independently of each other) watch every game and retroactively assess a flop penalty if majority of those viewing see a flop.  Arbitrary numbers on viewers and the % needed to classify it as a flop, but something where it's multiple eyes seeing the same thing.   Treat it much like a flagrant where if once a player has earned so many 'flop penalties" they are suspended for one game.   Hypothetically, after 20 flops, you are suspended one game.   after 30 another game, 35 another game and then every 2 gets a one game suspension.   Resets with adjusted numbers for playoffs.   Players can earn multiple flop penalties in one game.   If the NBA truly cared about the flopping issues, this would be something to easily implement and in theory should reduce the amount of flops.   Which then when a ref sees a reaction on the court, (s)he shouldn't have to wonder was it a foul, was it a flop, how much contact was there...etc.   It would improve the quality of the game IMO.

It's going to be interesting to see if this helps his poll numbers with the Republican base a little bit.

Or if it launches is poll numbers with Republican voters to the absolute stratosphere. We'll see!

It'll help with the core Rs, but it'll push more independents to the left if he wins the nomination.

I get it that some folks don't like Steph Curry or consider him over-rated. But they get fewer every year. Opposing players, NBA legends, and lifelong observers of the game have no trouble giving Curry his due. For some reason Mavric thinks Russell Westbrook's stats prove he's greater than Steph. No doubt he was excited to find this nugget.

If you want, there's a highlight reel of absolute daggers that Curry landed to put a team away in the playoffs, but I guess they came before that magic :45 mark. A few playoffs ago he scored all 17 of the Warriors points in overtime to beat the Blazers. A week ago he dropped 50 in Sacramento in Game 7 --- they were all big shots.

I'm still good having him on my team.

He single-handedly revolutionized the game, and I'm still torn if it's for the better.   Him (and to a lesser extent, pre-injuries Klay) are such incredible shooters and changed what is perceived a good shot for them, and now we have guys who see that and want to be that and are nowhere near that level.   We have guys like Trae Young who wants to be the next Steph, but will just be another Jordan Poole.   So many kids taking bad shots trying to be the next Steph...it'll stunt a lot of growth.   Guys just dribbling around the tree point line and taking step back logo threes and missing and just wasting offensive possessions.   But man, when the Splash Bros are on, still one of the greatest offensive performances you'll ever see, and if they lose this series, there will be a lot of questions in the Bay.   Poole is not worth that contract, but don't know if he can be moved.   Dray is the glue of that team, but he's clearly on the decline, do you want him back for the money he will demand?   Klay and Steph both another year older, and father time loses to no one.   Not sure, nor should I know, what Wiggings personal issues where, hope it's resolved, and I'm sure the Warriors know, but to everyone on the outside, he's a question mark as well.  The window will be really small next year and now we will see how good their front office is.

    Disagree.

Tough loss.  Think Warriors win by 15+ in game 5.  Lakers are putting all their eggs in the game 6 basket.  If they lose reverse the 3-1 script with LBJ and the Warriors.

I don’t believe this actually happened. I don’t like their laws and can understand some confusion by doctors but, if they really refused to provide care, they shouldn’t be practicing medicine. If things were really that bad, those doctors would leave to practice in other states. Feel pretty safe saying this is complete bulls#!t.

    Quote

Oklahoma’s Republican lawmakers responded to the U.S. Supreme Court’s overturn of Roe v. Wade last year by quickly enacting multiple abortion bans, and although exceptions for a medical emergency or to “save the life” of the pregnant person are included, doctors across the state have dealt with confusion and fear of prosecution when caring for women like Statton.

Doctors at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center in Oklahoma City, had given Statton fluids after one night in the hospital and now wanted to send her home with instructions to quickly return if her health worsened.

    ...

“They said the best thing that we can tell you is go sit in the parking lot until something serious happens and then come back and we’ll work on you,” Statton told The Oklahoman.

“They weren’t being mean, they just said that’s the only option you have. And then the doctor said, ‘You know, we can't do an abortion here but there are other states that can.’”

You know what's really cool about this?  My son-in-law works in hospitals in Atlanta.  Never know really which one he's in on a given day.

    Oh...heck...one more time....T&P

Not going to mention any of this to my wife until I know he's OK....fun times.

I've got plenty to spare as I'm fairly jaded and don't hand it out as easily as others, so you can have some of my T&P, hoping your SIL is safe.

  8. 3 of these second round series are just great.

Knicks struggle and rally to beat an undermanned Heat team at home.   If Jimmy comes back for game 3, I think the Heat win this going away and sweep at home, putting all the pressure squarely on the Knicks who have no idea how to succeed.  Jimmy, Bam and Lowry have all been tested and know what it takes.  Heat in 6, with an outside shot at 5.

76ers were much more competitive on the road than I thought they would be, even stealing home court, minus the MVP Embiid.   Showed they are capable of not just winning the series, but the East.   It's impressive how many players the 6ers have that I just love to hate.  Harden, Embiid, Tucker and Doc are all really high on my I hope they never win list.  Luckily for them they are playing the team that is cemented in at 1, so LETS GO 6ERS!!   Some questionable decisions from a young coach led to the loss, and as much as I dislike the Beard, he played really well.   Early prediction, this goes 7 and I think the dirty c-bags escape, and a lot of fans will complain about poor officiating costing the 6ers and going full conspiracy theory saying the league wanted that other team to win.

Lakers v Warriors.   Absolute shame this is just the semi-finals in the West.   This has all the ear-markings to be a series people will be talking about for years to come.   An absolute epic first game showcasing two completely different styles of play.   This is like Ali-Frazier.   No idea who wins this series, and not sure I can handle a 7 game series between these two (my fitbit registered strenuous activity late in the 4th when the Warriors went on that 14-0 run in like 90 seconds ), so I'm hoping for Lakers in 5.   Most likely this goes 7, and a very slight edge to the home team there.

Suns are done.   Zero depth, just getting manhandled by a tougher, deeper and more cohesive team.   If CP3 is indeed out, I don't see this series making it past 5 games.   And even then, that's too many games for this one.

All while those other industrial nations are much more comfortable and open with sexuality and nudity.   I know for a fact, Europeans are laughing at us for wanting to cover the statue of David and label that as too graphic.   Heck, when I was last over there, I saw nudity in commercials on regular TV at 3 in the afternoon on a Sunday.   I remember the day/time very well as I was so shocked at how comfortable and accepted it was imagining how many people would lose their minds if something like that happened here.

Great game last night for the Nuggets. Jokic really stepped up when the rest of the team was struggling. I know that he won't win the MVP again (and hopefully this finally gets Joel to shut up, along with the obnoxious Philly fans), but wow, did he prove his worth or what? And I have decided that Devin Booker has the most punchable face in all of sports. Man, I cannot stand that d-bag.

And how about Harden dropping 45 on the Celtics, in Boston? Rough couple of nights at the Garden.

And the 2 best parts of last night, as a Laker fan, seeing the dirty c-bags lose is always a great thing.   Also I believe it was the 15th hostile nut shot this playoffs, which I think has to be some sort of record.   And round 2 just started, we should expect at least 6-7 more of those plays this playoff season.

If I wasn't a Warriors fan, I would have rooted for Sacramento.

But I'm a Warriors fan, and thank Steph Curry for reminding me why.

You should thank Looney for giving Steph so many shots that Klay and Poole bricked.   Looney was the MVP of that series and exposed Sabonis as being a stiff.   If the Lakers make a concerted effort to keep Looney and Kaminga off the offensive glass they should be able to win in 6.

Booker is the only one that really irks me.  I have historically liked the Suns.  Loved the Barkely/Majerle teams and the Nash/Stoudamire clubs.  I like Monty Williams.  CP3 flops can get tiresome, but he's been a good-great player for a long time and plays both ends of the floor.  Not really a Durant hater either.  Something about Booker and how he only seems to jaw when his team is up 20 triggers the hell out of me, for some reason.

Booker antics drive me nuts....CP3 historically is one of the craftiest and dirtiest players of this generation...I agree on Monty, and I like Ayton and his throwback style and not being a stretch 5.   KD is KD, I know people don't like him for forcing his way out of a potential dynasty in OKC to join the Warriors and then forcing his way out of their for the ish-show that was the Nets, but he is a generational talent and makes every team he's on dangerous.   Overall, I have no ill-feelings for them or the Nuggets.  Watching the Suns, I was surprised at how little depth they have after the KD trade and don't think KD or CP3 will be able to stay healthy for a Finals run in a conference that's so deep with talent.   I think Denver wins in 5, all games close, but I just think Denver has more tools and will just exhaust the Suns.

And the East, the dirty c-bags have an easier path now that the Bucks are all but eliminated.   I don't think the 6ers will be able to handle them in a 7 game series.   Should be a fun blast from the past as we get the Lakers/filthy c-bags going for banner 18 in June.

Time to put a good product on the field now.

I think Nebraska should be thankful Carolina let Rhule go when they did.   Imagine if they keep him through the season.   We would have someone like Campbell or fans clamoring for Fleck etc....fortunate that a great candidate was available and fits exactly what we needed.

Very happy that the Nuggets advanced, despite playing some pretty lousy basketball at times. I will say that the inconsistent officiating has been very frustrating. I still don't understand how Joel wasn't suspended...

Right!   Joel flagrant 1, Harden flagrant 2.   Joel's was much worse.   Then we have Brooks get a flagrant 2 and JJJ get a common foul.   All of these for some attempted hostile nut action.   IMO Joel and  Brooks were the worst, and should have been flagrant 2, Harden and JJJ should both have been flagrant 1 as these were not 'basketball moves'.    Next round should be interesting.   Suns/Nuggets can be a great series.   Suns have no depth, I expect Nuggets to grind it out, make it physical and and just wear down the Suns.

    No thoughts on the playoffs?

    The upsets in the making?

    The key players going down?

    The rampant nut-punching?

I'm trying to savor it and not jinx anything.   I will say Jimmy FREAKING Butler has been a joy to watch so far in these playoffs.   And I think I'm around 8+ nut punches (and Embiid kick) so far, that seems really excessive and sudden.

I hope the injury to Fox doesn't derail what has been a very entertaining series so far, maybe the best 1st round series this year.
