  1. We're there any top draft picks there?

Chad Ford had a quote of the first 5 on 5 team and lets just say he was playing good competition, but not great competition.

Includes: Brandon Ashley, JP Tokoto, Aaron White, Ryan Boatright who he played against, he had Dez Wells, Terry Rozier and Qiunn Cook on his team

Petteway tied for second on his team in points and played the second least minutes on his team.

  2. This is a good post and it seems we are recruiting quarterbacks that can do this. I think the staff will start Tommy because they haven't had a dual threat before, but they will need to develop him to throw on the move instead of tuck and run in panic situations. We will see how they develop him, these younger quarterbacks and the ones to come, but yes it would be great to have the qb be pass first. I trust Riley and his staff to put the best qb on the field and be able to recruit great qbs to Nebraska that can pass first and have the ability to scramble for first downs as well as escape from pressure.

  3. Allen has been here four years. Evans five. Finnin is a JUCO who's been here two years. Price was 16 when he got here but he's been here four years. Smith is getting his Masters after coming over as a graduate transfer.

Maybe he skipped high school and went straight to college lol.

How is he a senior and 20 years old, unless its a typo?

  4. Wow I am shocked I thought he wanted to stay here for a few more years after he had said Nebraska was his home. I will NEVER forget Avery Harriman or Avery strong day and I wish him as well as his family the best of luck. He is doing what is right for him and his family so I will never forget him, he helped put Nebrasketball on the map and I am still going to be cheering for him in New Mexico.

  5.

I just figured I'd start him his own page.

He loved his visit to the spring game.

Says Nebraska would be up top if they offer. He feels like an offer is coming, and whoever offers first will have a leg up on everyone else.

Think I mentioned it in a different thread but I expect him to get offered. I like his film granted that translates to Jack squat to the coaching staff.

    How many stars is he?

And could you send me a link of his film?

  6. Okay so at the beginning of the year we had this seven foot guy(can't remember the name) and he was number 53 in the first team picture of the year(Walt was standing to his right in the pic). Then he wasn't on the team, is he maybe coming back or is he gone for good?

I think that providence transfer has some red flags (I think, but I am not sure if it is the same kid)

But, guys, you are looking at this with Husker Glasses on...

He has red flags all over the place.

But it is only for 1 year and an area of need.

That being said, not sure if he would want to come to NE.

I do think if i was a grad transfer, i would give NU a sniff for the simple fact you are going to get a lot of playing time with some talent around you.

A big who can play back to his basket and get some boards would be able to put up some nice numbers here.

Yeah the Providence transfer is Tyler Harris brother of Tobias Harris who currently plays for the Orlando Magic. Tyler is 6'9 and he attempted 77 threes at providence so he would play on the perimeter more, but have to develop a post game of some sort. Another target we are after according to 247 sports is Juco big man Brandon Walters who is 6'9 as well but he plays more in the post I believe so either of these guys I would take for depth.

Kind of interesting. Though they put forth the caveat that they can't see everything, one media guy says TA had the best day of the QBs. Another guy said he threw a few interceptions today and was up and down. I guess it just depends on when you're watching which players.

Another report noted Darlington again. Didn't hear much about him through the first half of practices but he's been a daily feature lately. It was noted that he gets to his checkdowns quite a bit better than TA or Stanton who often try to force it downfield. That probably plays well with the coaches, I would think.

It does play well. Langsdorf specifically mentioned that half way through camp. Said some guys were forcing passes, when they had a check down open in front of them.

I root for Armstrong and I think he's gonna be a good one, but honestly, if he doesn't start hitting those wide open second or third options or the HB standing all by himself in the flat, then I'm gonna flip. I watched Ameer standing all by himself far too many times last year.

If I'm the coach, the guy that does go through the progressions and hits the wide open routes is far more valuable than the guy with the strongest arm or any of those other things. Turnovers have been the difference between this team being an 11 win team or a 9 win team and that was under Bo Pelini and his merry band of yes men. I don't know if I can stand to watch a QB force throws all year long and destroy his teams chances for another season.

I root for him too. I get frustrated with multiple forced throws that makes me ask "what is he doing?!" (ah hem, USC most recently). I respect his confidence and arm strength. But so far during his young career, he has shown a redundant tendency to "go for it" too much (the mid range play downfield). And usually it coincides with him locking onto a single route. If he can shore up his decision making, progress as a quarterback within the system, and continue running hard for yards, he will help this team out a lot.

I thought he had a good game against USC for throwing the ball 51 times he only threw one interception, which shows some improvement. If he throws the ball that many times this year though I have no clue what to expect from him or this offense. I still agree he could have hit other receivers better, but I wasn't expecting a 43/51 performance out of him for that game, he did better than I thought he would. He needs to hit backs in rhythm better and needs to get that short and mid range improved to make this offense go. I can say this year Tommy improves because he will have proper coaching unlike previous years and I can say that with confidence. Also, his completion percentage improves this year in my mind, if he gets that up and doesn't turn the ball over he is the starter all year and he doesn't regress a lot in another area.

  9. I don't know why he says "That's what's wrong with that place," when we are paying him millions of dollars for doing nothing. Youngstown state will be paying him less than Nebraska will so I guess he is sore about getting fired and doesn't care about getting paid a ton of money. If he continues to take shots at the admin, they should not fire back, rather call Tressel and schedule a game against Youngstown State and lets see how much we can put up on his defense running fly sweeps lol.

  10. New staff isn't interested. Won't be coming to Nebraska.

Don't know why the staff isn't interested if he wants to be here, I think this is different than with Dillman because he said after Juco he would come

to Nebraska. It seems he was passionate about playing for Nebraska, but I wish him the best of luck elsewhere. I just think the staff should have given him a chance to come here and compete this spring or next spring. I hope he does well at another school but he might have had a tough time finding the field anyway because running back and WR are loaded with talent.

  11.

Miles signed a 7 year deal for a reason. He and our administration knew this wouldn't be fixed quickly. Really hope we see at least 1 New assistant coach for next year

who do we get rid of our Chicago pipeline coach MO? I would say wait another year before we fire because Hunter and Harriman aren't going anywhere and we only had coach Mollinari and coach Hunter for one and two years respectively.

You can not fire a coach who inherited very little talent and has had only 2 full recruiting cycles. Lets be realistic

Yea I agree and its not like Tim is hiring his buddies hes trying to bring coaches that want to help him win. With that said his buddy Craig Smith was a really good coach.

I really think Bell will be hard to replace. My eyes are on Turner and how, or if he comes back from his injuies. He was a bright, promising prospect at one point in time, but it seems so were many, many other WRs (Curenski stands out; there were others before, and after, such as Khiry).

With Burtch and Reilly we are talking about something like 20 career receptions between the two of them? Moore's another name you could throw into that mix. DPE is proven as a returner. As a receiver he came on late, and they have big plans for him, but he has to make a big 2nd year leap.

So, yeah, outside of Westerkamp I don't think we have proven carry the load guys. Even Westerkamp -- very solid and productive, but not a outside speed threat like Bell, or a red zone threat like Purify. Without those, the whole offense suffers. I'm very much not sold on the WRs this year.

If they do live up to the billing, it will take guys like Irons & Tolbert & DPE to break out. Heck, all the veterans, too: Allen, Burtch, Reilly, Moore, Turner. All of this is a projection. I don't agree that they are extremely deep, nor that they are more than solid at the top. Just a lot of bodies whose careers are open ended in where they fall on the spectrum: (Curenski? Meno Holt? Niles Paul? Enunwa/Bell? Etc).

I completely agree with this, I think that the best way to look at our WR core is potential.

The position was recruited well, there's tons of high ceilings. The question is "if"

    if Turner returns healthy

if Irons can catch the ball as well as run fast

    if Tolbert can be consistent

If Moore can manage to not get hurt.

The ceiling is high, the bigger question is if we can get close to that ceiling.

Another if to add to this is what "if" we had Monte Harrison to add to this already great group of receivers.

  14. I think Tommy will start in the spring and another qb competition will brew in fall camp.

I didn't like the excuse of oh hes a sophomore or oh hes a freshmen he will get better. Taylor got better because he had a paid qb coach not Tim Beck telling him what to do in my opinion. Now, with good coaching I can say that all of these qbs will get better and I can say that with confidence.

Tommy just needs to fix short and mid range passing which seems to be the recipe of success right now, because if you hit people with the mid range game, then you go deep and burn em. Also, it would be great to fix his long range accuracy instead of being a hopeful heave or the ArmStrong punt.

  15. Please can we not have another 20 or 30 point loss at Ohio State because that would look bad in the four years of playing in Columbus.

I want us to compete and play like no tomorrow and keep it competitive, we should not show signs of frustration or quit. We should play like we have nothing to lose instead of playing in FEAR of losing or being scared to lose.

I like watching this team play, when they are good it is really exciting, but years like this I am hoping for some good to happen and I don't know if Columbus is the place where we win but I want this team to have an attitude that they care.

  16. Nate Hawkins transferred and he could score and he showed some flashes.

Reality is he wouldn't get us to 19 wins but lets say he scores a few against Incarnate word, URI and Hawaii and maybe Wisconsin that

and lets say we win two of those games we are 15-12.

Anyway, we have enough players and talent to score heck make the guards make a good pass to the post and see what Leslee can do and give Moses a few touches maybe hes not much of an offensive threat but we need a respectable inside game to get open shots. We aren't shooting well so we should be flying to the offensive glass and playing team basketball not let me get my 19 points then go sit down. Maybe play zone defense and run some plays on offense and do what we did against Maryland and maybe we will have a chance to win 2/3 remaining games.
