  1. Miles is a better recruiter/coach than doc hands down. I really don't think I would have been able to watch one more season under doc. May have been a nice guy but he sucked as a coach and recruiter. But, he had ancient facilities and a lot more going against him. His offense would have been really hard to recruit to also, although Miles is kinda doing the same crap this year. I would rather see miles take more chances with players on the bench then do the safe crap he has this year. Use all of what you have available and if you lose then you lose but then there's not as many questions on why he didn't try this or that. I am pretty sure that Miles had said before the season that we were over ranked and basically said that this year could be ugly.

And, as far as the dance. Well you obviously take anytime time no question, but I think we would have been better off in the NIT last year.

I agree Miles>Doc in every aspect

But we made the tourney and we deserved to make it so making the NIT doesn't change anything from this year, also we had a chance to get the schools first tournament win ever. I think making the tourney last year gave us a chance to win but every year is different, we will see how good we are with a stacked team next year and not two go to scorers.

  2. Walk-ons aren't the answer to win...but they could be the answer to shock the starters out of their funk. Nothing else is working...

Yea they could I would say Menke has a nice shot but can't drive.

Kye is done for the season after that T against Hawaii so he won't play because he cost the team the game and it led us to the fifth place finish.

Also we didn't play well so we needed those 2 points back he wasn't the ONLY reason but I put blame on him for being stupid and hanging on the rim before the game..

We could start Menke but that's about it Kurkowski is not fast and maybe start Moses or other bench players to send a message not just walk ons cause we only have two that can play...

  3.

Coach O has a job now........

I hear Crete's head coach stepped down.............

Joe Ganz is a nice guy...........

    Anyone with Nebraska ties coming?

We can tell USC we gave them the Holiday Bowl victory so they can give us Keith Heyward who was with Riley from 2008-2011 that would be a good hire.

    You're f'ing kidding right????

No the first three are facts not guys coming Cretes coach is done and not coming at the college level

Keith is a name I thought I'd throw out or would u rather have another one of Rileys guys from 2014 Oregon State come?

IDK who u want but Im thinking guys Riley will go after Heyward and his guy at Oreg Stat, unless he knows someone that would come with him that we don't know that he has coached with at a camp or elsewhere.

  5. Btw- anyone see wiscy stay 15 feet off Parker and pack the lane while daring him to shoot? He wouldn't do it.

From a guy who played college ball; I'd sit in the gym and shoot 500 shots a day if not more to ensure that didn't happen. That is so embarrassing. Kid has zero confidence. Really don't understand how he can see the floor at a d1 level.

Maybe he sees the floor because he brings energy and effort and he plays excellent defense. He looked like the only one competing in the first half he was doing his job and he attacked the basket a few times but he did hesitate a lot instead of attacking at the pack defense Wiscy had. I thought he played well but I agree that he needs to shoot good but if he can't shoot he should drive and not hesitate to keep his momentum toward the basket. Next year if parker can give us six a game and we don't play stand around offense we can be good or get everyone a touch thn everyone has rhythm or can shoot with confidence Petteway needs to trust his teammates.

  6. Our DL is going to be pretty deep. DE's will be young but encouraging. Stolt and Newell are likely to stay outside.

What's the point to moving Newell back to a loaded DT position? It's our best position IMO. He has a chance to contribute this year at DE. If his skill set doesn't translate well to DE its the only reason to move him inside.

    DT

    JR- Collins

    JR- Valentine

    SR- Williams

    JR- Maurice

    FR- Davis

    FR- Davis

    DE

    JR: McMullen

    SR: Gangwish

    SR: Natter

    RFR: Freedom

    RFR: Newell

    RFR: Stoltenberg

    FR: Neal

    FR: Davis

We have depth but a lot of young talent at DE

Also do clarify Natter is a Sophomore not a Sr

  7. I'll go with:

    QB - Stanton

    RB - Cross -or- Taylor

    FB - Janovich

    OT - Streup, Lewis

    OG - Price, Kondolo

    C - Reeves

    DT - Valentine, Collins

    DE - McMullen, Gangwish

    LB - Banderas, Rose, Santos

    CB - Davie, Jackson

    S - Gerry, Alexander

So that's three on offense who didn't start at all (counting Janovich) and two on defense, both of whom were unavailable last year.

WR: Westerkamp, DPE, Sam Burtch/ Turner/some other wideout

Nice lineup Mavric I would say Cethan Carter at TE if you were to swap TE for Fullback

I would give the nod to Tommy Armstrong and the O-line idk that would be the closest I can think of to our starting o-line next year

  8. We could actually attempt to run an offense. That could be helpful.

I agree, what do we call our offense? The only play I have heard called was X or something like that and all it did was get Petteway with the ball way behind the three point line.

A consistent offense needs some plays that score against zones and plays designed to get easy baskets if the team is struggling.

  9.

Apparently we are down to two people and now we pick one of them

Also keep an eye on 3 star wide receiver D'erren Wilson, he decommited from SMU and has shown interest in Nebraska as well as others.

    Who are the two?

I don't know yet that is what I read from Mike Schaefer of 247 Sports they have it down to two but we don't know only Riley and the Staff probably.

  10.

People are speculating that Tim Beck becoming OSU oc could be rubbing Burrow the wrong way. Beck after all ignored Burrow while at NU.

Ya, there is over a page of info in this thread.

According to ESPN Beck will be co-offensive coordinator and Ed Warriner will be the OC calling the plays.

Beck just being at Ohio State and as the QB coach might influence him to come here.

He wouldn't play until his junior year and that is if he red-shirt's his freshman year. JT Barrett is a sophomore and will play qb a majority of Burrows time at OSU.

  11. I ask this again, have any of you ever seen Scott Frost on the sideline photos. I am sure Moraine thinks a good looking guy, but he gives some looks that would make you want him to scream at you. Close at times of those of our past coach. Sometimes a look does more than a yell.

The Utah Jazz coach called a time out once earlier this season and did nothing but stare at the players. After he stared at them they came back and won the game so message received with no yelling. Just wanted to point that out and I know it was basketball but yelling helps and it can eat at others. The basketball team at my high school would play poorly and they did better, but not until coach had to yell or scream at them before they got it together and improved.

  12.

Tommy is getting proper coaching so lets see what he can do before we say that Tommy can't take care of the ball. How do you know Stanton takes care of the ball more than Tommy? I guess we will see during the Spring game who does well but the spring game doesn't show who the starter is because players have shown they played well during the spring but can't do well on Saturdays. I say we see how good TA is with this staff before we say Stanton is better because Tommy has a bigger Arm which is big now in college football and is a plus for this offense. I think Tommy starts until Stanton proves he is better and I expect both of these players to get at it this off-season.

Tommy having a big arm does not mean he is better thn Stanton it just makes the offense that much more dangerous.

I hope Tommy starts this year btw

Tommy having a big arm doesn't make him better if he can't make the short/medium throws as well. And honestly, if I can't have a QB that can make all the throws, then I'll take one that can make the short/medium throws.

Did you read the bolded part, Tommy 16-5 as a starter Stanton 0-0 so yea Stanton is undefeated but Tommy has shown flashes and had a slump in November but this staff will make Tommy a better short and mid range passer and use his big arm as an advantage I think.

  14. TO should have gotten rid of Bo long ago instead of standing by him and covering up for him. Getting Eichorst in here was a good move.

TO retired in 2012 BO was doing fine and then 2012 Wisconsin happened and it went downhill from that game before he was fired because we made the CCG,Tom announced his retirement in 2012 sometime, and after that Wisconsin to the end of 2014 Eichorst is the AD, and what made us fire Bo was he had these constant blowouts and used foul language muchly toward the fans and his behavior on the sideline was awful.

  15. Question, there was a D-lineman who was suspended for exposing himself. I know he has done he community work (repentance) and I believe he was re-instated by the university, has anyone heard if his scholarship will be honored? Sorry, I don't do well with names..

Avery Moss is his name and I am not sure either, we wait for now because not a lot of recent news has been said about this guy and if he comes back in shape he would be a huge get.

  16. I hope Langsdorf improves Tommy's passing and Tommy makes a big leap this year like 23 tds to 8 ints or somewhere around those lines. If Tommy starts I expect him to improve not the Martinez "He is only a sophomore and will get better" improvement because he has the correct coaching. Boykin at TCU wasn't good at all last year proper coaching and he went off what if Tommy has a season like that not the same numbers but just becomes the guy and the starting quarterback with great numbers. I haven't seen Stanton throw but Tommy has a rocket arm that Stanton might have but I don't think he can throw that far but I haven't seen him play enough to know. If Tommy can complete those long ball passes consistently instead of look how far our quarterback can throw and works on it with Westerkamp or whoever we could be good and that can help us put up points and if Tommy starts I do expect some long ball passes but with completions not just chucking it cause we can. So I hope Tommy starts so we can see how good he is with the improved coaching but I won't mind Stanton starting but would love to see Tommy make those big plays like Ohio State does with like 30 -50 yd pass TD's those are fun to watch on like second and seven or some early down and could help us flip the field too if we were stuck on one side of the field. I wish both quarterbacks luck but I like the open competition and give Tommy the nod with 21 career starts and if Stanton didn't beat him this year he would have to make a giant leap to beat him out in 2015. Unless Stanton was in Bo's bad players club where if he didn't like you the player applauds from the sidelines and pushes the starters to do better instead of actually playing the best players on the field Tommy will start unless Bo was holding back Stanton which could be a possibility.I give Tommy the nod now but that might change if Stanton lives up to his elite 11 status.

  17. With that size i expect him to play forward here at Nebraska. A great get I like him in the highlights he attacked the basket and didn't settle for jumpers.

I wonder how we get Akoy here I assume if he were to commit to Nebraska we would be over the limit and maybe Petteway would leave but if he didn't someone would have to take a walk-on for one year because I doubt we know if anyone would transfer why not transfer now instead of the end of the season maybe? I hope we get Akoy here but I don't know what happens if Petteway stays I guess someone would have to be a walk-on but I think everyone on the team enjoys the scholarship that they have.

  18. I don't know if he has any starts but Charles Jackson is another name in the secondary that the Journal Star forgot about and I don't remember too much about him but he he can bring some athleticism from what I hear to this secondary and will probably be rusty at the start of the season but will help with depth.

I don't know if he starts or not but time will tell I hope he does well on his way back from injury and helps make this a great secondary.

  19. Well we fought hard and didn't quit and had a chance to win the game

Pierson-El showed he is a beast as a receiver and today was his birthday so happy birthday to a player who can be real good for us on offense and punt returns in the coming years.

And Barney hugging Ameer is what every husker fan would want to do after such a great career I am proud of him and these seniors and I am proud of the coaching staff and the players for the hard work they put in this season.
