I think the recruiting loss is overstated. In-season recruiting is a shell of what it used to be with all of the early commits as well as having official visits allowed in the spring/summer. The majority of our game visits are for local guys and underclassmen. Add in there is a decent chance this was an 11am kick on Saturday, so there is a good chance there wouldn't have been any official visits anyways.
We also have the CU game 2 weeks prior, that will be the one they load up with 'croots, not Illinois.

ESPN keeping the NFL happy
-
I guess Turner had money to burn after losing the NBA. I think ESPN always does a great job with the production part of the CFP, hopefully Turner is up to the task (and we don't get Charles Barkley breaking down games).
Odd to me that Turner doesn't air any regular season college football or college basketball games, but airs postseason games.

Callahan saying Illinois is likely.
Apparently all four of our road games (other than Iowa on Black Frida) are Homecoming for the team we're playing....
Sounds like all the B1G Friday games are getting announced this afternoon.
And to add to the kick in the nuts of hosting a Friday game, the Illinois game will be the 400th "sellout" in a row.

Is he saying go back to only having a February signing period?
Have a June and February. Leave December for the portal.

Hopefully this is the one "dominate the other team in a night game" that we have seen the last handful of years.
2019 Northern Illinois 44-8
2021 Northwestern 56-7
2022 Indiana 35-21

1. NCAA/conferences vs #NIL collectives
The NCAA/P4 are hoping the House settlement eliminates collectives and they’re going to try and crack down on “pay for play.” The thought is by allowing donors to give directly to schools (who can then pay athletes) it eliminates the need to give to collectives. But with a cap & some schools worried about Title IX (more on that below), there may still be a need for collectives to compensate athletes. If one school is only offering an athlete X directly from the school, but another is offering X plus Y from a collective that would obviously play a role in recruiting. The NCAA/P4 are going to try and eliminate these collective payments through harsher enforcement/penalties. Which is where I think we’ll see lawsuits arise. It’s already happened with the Tennessee case. The House settlement isn’t going to magically make it easier for the NCAA to enforce its rules.
I'm not a lawyer, but I agree that this is ripe for more lawsuits.
You can't have a salary cap w/o it being collectively bargained, and you can't collectively bargain unless the players are employees. And as previous lawsuits have show us, you can't limit the outside money (aka NIL) that someone is making. If the schools are paying the players a salary, you still are going to have NIL (and maybe then you will have it the way it was intended, players doing sponsorship/marketing deals for companies).

I would bet 9th would mean a return to the tournament, in our new SUPER CONFERENCE age!!
Yup, 9th would be in the upper half of the conference. And imply a .500 in conference record.

Oh man, yep...those are the ones!
20 whiskeys????? And an oven from Italy???
What does this guy do for a living? Let me guess...a teacher? Those guys have IT ALL!
I actually wasn't sure what he did, so I just looked him up on LinkedIn and he is a R&D guy for a biomedical firm (whatever the hell that means).
Also I was around him this weekend and whiskey came up (he was talking about some new inventory at the local HyVee liquore store that we all had to try). So I asked how many bottles does he think he has. He said last time he counted (in the winter) he had 37 bottles. He's finished some and bought new since then, so figures its close to that still.

NU roster say 6’3” and 230 lbs.I could see them inflating his height an inch or 2, but they aren’t adding 30 lbs.

South Stadium will be standing for a bit longer. But those in East/West might get displaced unless they pony up big $$$ to sit with the new chairbacks, as the grandfathering in of donations will be gone.

glad they offered him- thought, when he went in, he'd be a good fit!
Buyuktuncel is currently at BYU. Only other scheduled visit is Nebraska later this week. Be great to reel in this guy since we need underclassmen to balance the roster a bit.
