That was an absolute embarrassment. Well if they had regional hosting dreams those are gone.  This SDSU team gave up 38 runs to UNO in a 3 game set.  This SDSU team gave 6 of the 12 wins Northern Colorado has all year and allowed a whopping 101 runs in those 6 games. 101 RUNS!  Nebraska should be ashamed of their performance.  If they get sent to the Fayetteville or College Station regional it's their own fault.

D1 Baseball has Nebraska as a #2 in the Terre Haute region.  College Baseball Nation has Nebraska hosting as a #13 with the expectation that the 'Huskers win the Big Ten.

In today's college football news, Clemson, Virginia Tech join SEC, 2 other teams under consideration.  Greg Sankey issues statement that they will likely still stay at 8 conference games as Alabama inks scheduling deal with Merrimack and Stonehill. Florida and the school of the defunct Confederate Army, Citadel, signs a two-game agreement.

Yep, and since Nebraska is the only northern school in the Top 25 for attendance it would be a fantastic reward to the team and fans.  Gotta keep winning!

Remember when Urban Meyer ticked off the late Joe Tiller and others with his recruiting practices that brought the Big Ten kicking and screaming to the modern era in football?  I'm hoping USC and the rest of the Pac-12 schools in baseball don't tolerate baseball as an afterthought in the Big Ten and do a little sabre rattling too.

I wonder what the record needed to get a regional host spot?  Would 8-2 get it done with no loss against SDSU?  Iowa suffering another embarrassing defeat at the hands of the NDSU Bison, this time on the diamond, probably doesn't help the perception of the Big Ten.

Strangest thing.  Nebraska can't win a midweek game and Creighton struggles on the weekends.  If Nebraska ends up in the College Station regional I'm going to think it could have been prevented and I would give the side eye to the committee.  Although if the 'Huskers dump the midweek game against SDSU it might really be time to worry.

Bad loss to lose the series.  Really need to make the most of the games against Kansas, Kansas State, and Creighton remaining.

Great win!  Now to take the series tomorrow.  I don't know how many losses in Big Ten play they can have and still be a regional candidate.  Beating Kansas, Kansas State, and Creighton might cover up a couple.

Getting ranked is not a good thing for this team. Yes, I think Northwestern will surprise a couple teams in conference play but Nebraska is not playing like a top 25 team. They are giving up late inning runs, the fielding % is lacking and the team is winning shakingly. (All Huskers fans this weekend found ourselves begging for the win in all 3 games.) 

There is loads of reason for optimism though. This team just grinds. The pitching staff is deeper than projected and Bolt is allowing the base coaches to coach. The small ball play has been better than advertised. All of that is on the Staff and Players. Buckle Up folks, it's getting more real with each game. Tuesday's game against a red hot, very good Creighton team will be the Huskers best test to date 

 

Congrats to BIG RED, the team and the fans!! Let's keep it going. Very tough week ahead!!!!

We hope.  Kendall said last week that UGA and NU were next in line but UGA also swept a better team in Alabama.  I'd like to think they both get in though.

Beat a quality Kansas State team and not trip over Northwestern and I think the 'Huskers are ranked next week.  It would be great to see.

I also suppose that age plays a role in how people feel about Oklahoma.  If you are under 40, you probably don't care as much.

Which is why I want them to play.  Two big and storied programs with outstanding fans.  A new venue to travel to.

I wonder if USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon change the Big Ten's perspective on baseball?  USC is college baseball royalty, I can't imagine they will be quiet on that front.

A lot of discussion about Matt Rhule signaling about making the non-conference schedule more manageable with the four new additions from the Pac-12.  Unless you live in the area; I don't think most people care about Cincy, Arizona, or Okie State. They can switch out those games for Mepos Tech, Zamunda University, and Melmac College.  The big games to me are Tennessee and Oklahoma.  The Tennessee series has already been moved before for Bristol but I believe that fans would love a visit to Knoxville and the Rocky Top faithful would travel well to Lincoln.  Oklahoma doesn't need explained.  It's throwing a bone to tradition and rich history in a sport that has increasingly less of it as the years go by.  Hopefully more great stories from Tom Osborne and Barry Switzer while they are still with us.  Those are the two valuable series I would like for Nebraska to honor. If the Tennessee games were switched it would have been an opportunity to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the '97 team in Lincoln since Michigan isn't on the schedule to troll.  Whether or not that would be enough time to bury the hatchet with Scott Frost I suppose is TBD.  

The Phoenix bowl tie-in would have Nebraska fans there in droves.  Then again it's been so long that most any option would be appealing.  Even if it's Shreveport against Army.
