We don't have one single player on a full ride and nobody with an NIL deal worth anything.  Yet the SEC, ACC and a quarter of the Big 12 use NIL to give all 40 players full rides plus spending money. Brice and Max were only ones with NIL last year worth anything.  Arkansas, Kentucky, Ok State etc are offering kids full rides plus a minimum of 10K all the way up to 100K to go play there. You can't expect to compete at that level regularly. the top 16 teams host, we will never be a top 16 team no matter how much we hate to lose. sorry.

we don't spend like the other programs. Guys like McConnahey, Worthley and Daiss are going to have 4-5 offers on day 1 of the summer and we will be thankful if they come back.

Remember when Urban Meyer ticked off the late Joe Tiller and others with his recruiting practices that brought the Big Ten kicking and screaming to the modern era in football?  I'm hoping USC and the rest of the Pac-12 schools in baseball don't tolerate baseball as an afterthought in the Big Ten and do a little sabre rattling too.

  2. Strangest thing.  Nebraska can't win a midweek game and Creighton struggles on the weekends.  If Nebraska ends up in the College Station regional I'm going to think it could have been prevented and I would give the side eye to the committee.  Although if the 'Huskers dump the midweek game against SDSU it might really be time to worry.

It was a good win. They played clean on defense and what seems to be the norm, they did just enough offensively to win and with Oklahoma getting swept by Lamar this weekend enough to be ranked.

Getting ranked is not a good thing for this team. Yes, I think Northwestern will surprise a couple teams in conference play but Nebraska is not playing like a top 25 team. They are giving up late inning runs, the fielding % is lacking and the team is winning shakingly. (All Huskers fans this weekend found ourselves begging for the win in all 3 games.)

There is loads of reason for optimism though. This team just grinds. The pitching staff is deeper than projected and Bolt is allowing the base coaches to coach. The small ball play has been better than advertised. All of that is on the Staff and Players. Buckle Up folks, it's getting more real with each game. Tuesday's game against a red hot, very good Creighton team will be the Huskers best test to date

Congrats to BIG RED, the team and the fans!! Let's keep it going. Very tough week ahead!!!!

We hope.  Kendall said last week that UGA and NU were next in line but UGA also swept a better team in Alabama.  I'd like to think they both get in though.

I hope this isn't the year (or next) when they significantly cut the number of bowls.  Hoping, worse case scenario, we go 6-6 and can still slide into some craptatstic bowl.  Hate to be the year we are finally bowl eligible there is not enough bowls....

All the minor bowls are ESPN for inventory

  5. A lot of discussion about Matt Rhule signaling about making the non-conference schedule more manageable with the four new additions from the Pac-12.  Unless you live in the area; I don't think most people care about Cincy, Arizona, or Okie State. They can switch out those games for Mepos Tech, Zamunda University, and Melmac College.  The big games to me are Tennessee and Oklahoma.  The Tennessee series has already been moved before for Bristol but I believe that fans would love a visit to Knoxville and the Rocky Top faithful would travel well to Lincoln.  Oklahoma doesn't need explained.  It's throwing a bone to tradition and rich history in a sport that has increasingly less of it as the years go by.  Hopefully more great stories from Tom Osborne and Barry Switzer while they are still with us.  Those are the two valuable series I would like for Nebraska to honor. If the Tennessee games were switched it would have been an opportunity to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the '97 team in Lincoln since Michigan isn't on the schedule to troll.  Whether or not that would be enough time to bury the hatchet with Scott Frost I suppose is TBD.

  6. I don't care about the seed, it's just getting the opportunity.  Quite frankly I would embrace the challenge against a CBB blue blood like Kentucky.  Nebraska basketball doesn't get opportunities like that often.  Can you imagine if Keisei got hot in front of a national audience for that game?  Pandemonium around the country and good vibes for Nebrasketball.

    RIP college football

Yeah I wonder if this to further decide the haves and have nots within the two conferences as well.  Nebraska better start winning in football and make the tournament in basketball.  Volleyball is a helpful bonus.

I think you’re spot on. The difference between the BIG and PAC 12 is that every conference team you play has the talent to beat you. It’s a lot harder grind then what they’re used to

Yep, it's depth and big lineman as part of that.  No 275 lb. Pac-12 DL is going to cut it.  Teams get beat up in league play in the Big Ten and SEC.  We talk about Frost and Bo but I remember the chatter when Penn State joined they were going to dominate as well.  None of it happened.  I would say Oregon is the best prepared of the 4 but there will be some rough spots.  I see Oregon losing in Madison, Wisconsin in November because of the grind.  USC will have some difficulties even with the talent they have and Washington, UCLA will be rebuilding years for sure.

For a team without a true point guard and no real 5 in the paint to command the boards, Fred has gotten the most out of this team. From what I remember of Fred at Iowa St he didn't use a true 5 there either. Playing on the road against a team with decent bigs and a veteran point guard is the recipe for disaster. They are what they are. If we can hold our home court and somehow manage a road win or two we should see the NCAA tourney. If we get the NIT then maybe we get the home court advantage for a few games. That might not be bad.

Keisei Tominaga not getting the NCAA stage in his time here would make me sad.  I don't care if it's the play-in game in Dayton.  It would be an opportunity.  That also begs the question, if the 'Huskers would win the play-in game, would that count as an NCAA win and the P5 outpost without a NCAA tourney win would be no more?

I could see this.  There were rumors before.  Texas A&M hasn't been much of a winner in the Big XII or SEC.  Hello 1998 and Sirr Parker!  It would make less sense for FSU though without a southeast travel partner like Miami.  I'm sure Mizzou would jump at the chance as a better cultural fit but would the Big Ten want them along with A&M?
