  1. I think they should leave it alone. 4 is a great number. It doesn't create a lot more games. It still keeps the importance of the regular season in play. Such as, a team with 2 losses makes the top 8 and somehow pulls an upset over a team that didn't lose a game all season.

If a 2 loss team, for example Michigan State this year, is better than a team with no losses, Florida State, who cares? I want the best teams in the field. There's no one on earth that can convince me that FSU was better than TCU. 8 teams fixes that and doesn't "water down" the regular season. If anything the regular season was heightened this year and prevented the awful BCS matchup of Alabama and FSU based on media hype. Taking 8 teams out of 125 does not diminish the regular season IMO, it's not close to the NBA or NFL ratio. I wouldn't be against doing away with the conference championship games to enable 8. Having the first rounds games at campus sites of the higher seed eliminates any travel concerns.

  2. Look no further than Kenny "Trill" and his August Heisman, an average team beating a worse one at the end of the year that meant nothing. Florida State for most of the year being ranked on last year's results when the games on the field told you they were a hollow shell of 2013.

  3. I've long be a proponent of just starting the next year whatever you were ranked the previous year. You are what you are until somebody knocks you off or you prove yourself to be better by beating someone.

I disagree, last year's team should have little bearing on a ranking of this year's team other than a shallow baseline. I also believe those that aren't comfortable with making major changes to the preseason poll, even dropping teams that win in the first month should have their voting rights taken away. The preseason poll is based on nothing and the first month or even six weeks, you shouldn't be beholden to it in any way.

  4. LSU needs to find a QB before they are ranked higher. Braxton Miller would be wise to look into Baton Rouge. Top 3 RB in in the country in Fournette, lot of talented youth around him.

I'm surprised Mississippi State isn't ranked, thought Dak Prescott said he was coming back.

UCLA and Michigan State seem too high, GT and Tennessee seem too low.

You are correct, excellent observation, he played in '71-'75. Hopefully, the omission was due to the fact that it is still a work in-progress as the paper hinted at a year ago. It's interesting that he is now at Alabama. Paul "Bear" Bryant suffered the worst loss of his coaching career at the hands of Nebraska and Bob Devaney in the '72 bowl game for the national title. That game played a role in the integration of the SEC. Coach Riley still needs an excellent RB coach and an OC, I can dream right? :-)

ur correct it is Alabama but he wasn't hired a WR coach yet either

No, he hasn't. I'd welcome Coach Fisher to stay on as WR coach as he has done a very good job in Lincoln, However, I did see a post where he "thanked everyone for the experience at Nebraska" so I wonder what the chances of that is?

  6. Of all the bowl teams to match up with I thought USC was the most favorable, moreso than potential matches with Auburn, Arizona State, LSU and UCLA. Not a big believer in Sark and trading someone the likes of Nick Marshall for Cody Kessler is a win for the defense, even though Kessler is a very good player. Hopefully Randy plays, but I'm not optimistic.

Unfortunately it's not allowed to post the data directly since it originates from the local Omaha paper but there is a storied list of players from Louisiana in Lincoln over the years. Quite a few big names. Will be interesting to see how Coach Riley recruits the area in the coming years.. Extraordinary amount of gifted and talented kids in the "Boot" for a state that is a little over 4 1/2 million people.

So who is going to open a Deanie's or Lil' Dizzy's in Lincoln to make him feel at home? Buzzard Billy's ain't gonna cut it. *New Orleans bounce out the post, putcha bally's on* (Hey I'm from an older generation) #GBR!

lol what you know about that and maybe i can come open up some seafood spots

That would be great, Lincoln's pretty limited in that area being so far from the water and the Nebraska beef reputation. Some of those fresh chargrilled oysters I had that were the size of a '52 Buick hubcap at Mike Anderson's in Gonzales sound pretty good to me right now too. Nothing in America compares to the food and music of the Crescent to me. It's as good as it gets.
    i love my city

"Goin' back home, fe nan e'

In the land of the Carnival Queen

I'm goin' back home to my baby

Goin' back to New Orleans" - Dr. John and the Neville Brothers ......I was all excited when there was talk of moving the Southern Miss vs. Nebraska game to the Dome as I thought a lot of Nebraskans would be on board to travel including myself. Ah well I'm overdue for a return trip to Essence. Anyway I'm happy to see you give your blessing and your son choose to venture north. I watched Tyrone Hughes and Mickey Joseph do big things as a kid up here, I believe Mr. Morgan is on his way as well. You didn't hold former 'Husker Josh Bullocks's struggles as a Saint against the Big Red, lol. Thanks for adding your perspective and contributions to the board and I hope to see in the future too. Always enjoyable to read and see the coaches are doing right by the kids and fam as they should.
