Scott's words ring true! I was raised in almost the same family. Work first, but we never missed the radio broadcast, and it was special to see one on TV! I did not have the talent (or sadly maybe the dedication) for the next level, but the dreams were there. Dr Rex Fischer (QB '53-'55) delivered my son. I will never forget him saying "a future Husker!" rather than "it's a boy." The first game I took him to was the Penn State game in 2003. We walked into the stadium after it was mostly full and his words of pure awe we're "Dad! Is it like this every game?" The dream was passed on! As Scott and many others have pointed out, this is a unique, special place. There is unwavering support for the team, players, coaches, and university. In return we expect honesty, integrity, dedication, and unmatched work ethic. Winning is result of these things! I am pulling for Mike Riley and our return to dominance!
