  1. Actually that would not undermine our attempt to standout in support of our team. It would bolster it. Our team would simply think that we did crash the Camp Randall party ala usual Husker fan style.

I see your point! They would definitely think that, especially when all 80,000 black-dressed Nebraska fans are making it absolutely deafening when we're on offense and cheering for good Wisconsin plays. All part of the strategy; brilliant!

I'm not sure I see the correlation between the noise level in Camp Randall and what color (black or red) their fans choose to wear. Let's face facts; it's going to be loud in there regardless and we will only get so many fans in. The issue that quite possibly has the very least importance in how this game turns out will be what color any fans are wearing.

  3. Sticking with the "dear big ten network" theme; Dear BTN, please get some higher quality cameras and/or better broadcasting gear. Or, better yet, get your HD channel going in northern colorado Comcast/Infinity land. Is anyone else disappointed in the picture quality of BTN or is it just me?

  4. We can put it to rest!

I don't think it puts anything to rest. They said on September 19th is was going to be the regular away uniforms, then another obviously fake photo surfaced and the retardation continued.

This tweet from the NU Equipment office has obviously been photo shopped.......

The original looked like this before the pranskters got hold of it-

Just to calm everyone's nerves we will be wearing our abnormal black road uniforms & black helmet @ Wisconsin.

  5. Yeah- Big Red Anthem is way better than this one. The only good thing about this one is the song title. When the "music" and so called "rapping" start, then it's time to turn it off. I'm a middle aged white guy from Nebraska and this Throw the Bones song is way too white for me.

Usher and Flo Rida have nothing to worry about.

  6. What I want to know, is will Bo have our guys take a knee on the 5 yard line instead of driving in for the score--like Wyoming? Because I hope he only does it if we're at least two or three TDs ahead at the end.

If this is your biggest concern for this game, I can only make one suggestion; step away from the Kool-Aid. "if we're at least two or three TD's ahead at the end" ??? Your scenario will not play out but if it did and Bo doesn't have em take a knee at that point, he would be a moron. Keep in mind this is highly likely a preview of the B1G championship game. Rubber matches almost always seem to tilt in favor of the first loser. Rubbing their nose in it would not bode well for NU should we meet again this year. I think it is 50/50 chance if Bielema would do the same thing. I only hope that if we do in fact lose this game that BB does rub our nose in it.

  7. impressed by Badger fans and Wisconsin people in general. Maybe it's just because I relate well to that area and have always liked the Packers, Brats, cheese, and beer. Students will be students- doesn't much matter where you go. Soem off color cheers or T-Shirts is no big deal. I would love to be going to this game and my least concern would be being treated poorly. Travelling football fans will likely run into a few a-holes wherever they go. I am sure Madison is no different in that regard than Lincoln. My one exception is Boulder and the Buffs. Guaranteed to run into a whole slew of a-holes there.

You know, one of the most obvious things that opens a window to the Wisconsin psyche is the foam cheeshead itself. Minnesotans & Illinoisians meant to use that term in a derogatory way (as in "you f'in' cheeseheads!") toward us and we just decided to make it into both a prideful & self-deprecating joke. It's more of a Packer thing than UW, and it really is somewhat against etiquette to use the cheesehead at UW games, but the point is we like to have a little fun, even if it's at our own expense. In the bad old days, we lost a game 55-2 to MSU -- our chant at the end of the game? "WE SCORED FIRST! WE SCORED FIRST!"

That's funny. That's what you call making the best of a bad situation. In the "good old days" of Nebraska football, when I was a student, one of my favorite memories (albeit an alcohol fogged one-yes that would cover my college experience in total) was from sometime around 1982, we were rolling New Mexico or NM State, it was way out of hand and were ahead something like 66 or 72-0 and NM finally scores a touchdown against our 4th string. It was the loudest cheer all day in Memorial stadium.

  8. Nebraska fans might be surprised by the general good hospitality in Madison, (I encourage you all to visit the Farmer's Market around the Capitol Square on Saturday morning and walk down State Street,) As has been stated in this string, near the stadium there may also be some foolish behavior by random idiots. You should be prepared for some pretty obscene shirts on the students, including "F__K Nebraska". You also see some shirts that say "Eat Sh_t" on the front and "F__K You" on the back. That is in reference to one of their "chants" during the game. It is not directed at the opposing team, but is directed at themselves. Section 0 is in the middle of the student section, and the old chant used to be the other student sections J, K, L, M, N and P all chanting "0 Sucks" and the section 0 folks chanting "N Sucks P." Well, over the lasts several years it has "evolved" into "Eat Sh_t, - F__k You". It is an embarrassing cheer for the rest of us and the university has tried to dissuade them, including a new comically pathetic attempt to put up an add on the video screen encouraging the students with the same for letters, ES-FU, representing the phrase "Every Student Friendly United" or something like that. It's a great student section, but when you combine that many kids in a group mentality and just a bit of alcohol, well, things like ES-FU happen. Don't be concerned about attending the outdoor tailgates, or bars or any of that. You'll be treated well, and the vendors are happy to take your money. Looking forward to seeing the Big Red/Black horde invading Madison on Saturday. (A good place to go Friday night is the terrace on the lake behind the Memorial Union on Langdon St, where there is always music and a great mix of students and others, and they many varieties of local microbrews as well as the local fare (bratwurst.) There is also a local bar near the stadium, the Regent St. Retreat at 1206 Regent St., hosting a band from Lincoln; the Sidetrack Band. they'll be there Friday night and Saturday at noon. Safe and enjoyable travels to you all, but I have to say, Go Bucky!!"

  9. I don't think the Huskers will show too much defensively. We've got Ohio St coming in next week.....

Maybe it's just me, but I would assume you guys would be throwing the kitchen sink at us on Saturday...

    He was being humorous

    Ahh. Fail by me.

Yes, it was an attempt at humor but also making a point for all those people that claim our first 4 games have been defensively schemed vanilla on purpose. As if the Pelini's will simply flip a switch this week and we'll finally see what we have all been waiting for. (Hoping for it but not buying it yet) I am intrigued that the Badger fan apparently took my comment somewhat seriously. Some insecurity is good but that much could be trouble.

  10. I guess the question we should be asking here is if there are *any* ABC/ESPN/MickeyEars sports announcers that Nebraska fans *do* care for?

'Cause so far, we've run through Matt Millen, Ed Cunningham, Herbstreit, Mushyburger, and we've historically claimed folks like Bob Davies, Dan Dierdorf, Griese, Keith Jackson, and the frozen head of Walt Disney have all had it in for Nebraska for one reason or another.

    Just sayin'. :):espnsucks:

I don't mind Herbstreit and I love Keith Jackson. Muskburger and Griese have both more than earned Husker fans ire. Some of what I hate them for would no longer be an issue since we are now part of their favored B1G conference. Griese promoting his own kid and Michigan back when Nebraska clearly had the better team and should not have had to share a title with Michigan is a good place to start looking for answers. As for the Muskburger issue, all you have to do is rewatch virtually any NU game he has done and listen to how lopsided most of his commentary is. That and his propensity for going way over the top on the most basic of circumstances.

  11. The question should not be when was the last time Mushburger was in Lincoln but rather, how can we prevent him from ever coming again. Open container is pretty weak. Surely there is some unsolved murder or child molestation that LPD could pin on him.

Uh, that's right, I don't like him much.

  12. It won't be all whites. For wiscy they will wear white jersey, new black pants, & one sick matte black helmet. Don't ask for my source on this.

Nobody is going to ask because everybody knows you're full of it.

Well. I'm sure not gonna tell ya now even if you do ask :dunno

  13. Welcome to the B1G, Huskers fans, kudos on a good message board. Looking forward to seeing some of you guys Saturday.

What I'm wondering about from you guys is, how do you feel about your run defense? I watched the Fresno State and Washington games and my impression was that it was a bit suspect.

And since this is a UW fans prediction thread, here's mine: In order to slow down UW's offense, a D has to have a front seven that can control its run game because if you have to bring extra guys up, Wilson will destroy it with play-action. From what I saw, I'm not sure Nebraska can do that. You'll score some points but if UW gets ahead and Martinez has to throw it more than the coaches are gonna want, Badgers will pull away. UW 38, Neb 27.

I agree in your assessment-the game will come down to whose big uglies control the line and who can effectively run the ball. You wanted to know how we feel about our run defense (and that will be the determining factor). So far this season I have been fairly unimpressed with our D-Line play (pass rush & run stoppage) BUT the Pelini's are notorious for scheming well for big games. I may be wrong but I don't think NU has shown anything defensively yet this season that we will see from them Saturday. We know we have the athletes and we also know they have not performed up to their capabilities yet. If NU's D is working, it will be a good game and a Husker victory. If our D is not markedly changed from the first 4 games, you are right, the Badgers will pull away and probably score more than the 38 you predicted. I feel our Offense can put up mid to upper 30's on you guys. Just depends if our D can hold you below that. Historically we have played well on the road under Pelini so I am hoping that will negate at least some of the environmental concerns of Camp Randall at night. I would love to be at that game. It should be an instant classic.

  14. The only person that knows for sure is the ref looking up, standing directly under the upright. The TV view we got doesn't mean squat. 41-14 or 38-14 doesn't much matter. I doubt the ref called it bad on purpose. He wouldn't have had time enough to discern that it was so close and the camera angle so bad that he wouldn't look like an idiot making the wrong call.

  15. We learned that we only have 7 days left to fantasize about our beloved Huskers chances for this season. I would love to be proven wrong but unfortunately I have watched every play of the first 4 games.

You're right. We're terrible. We shouldn't even go to Wisconsin next week. All we're doing is wasting our time. You know what? We're so bad, let's not even finish the season. We're just so terrible that we don't even deserve to take the field with D1 teams. There's no reason to live anymore.

    Seriously, why was this posted?

Sorry, I'm pretty unbearable on game days especially when the Huskers perform below their capabilities. I firmly believe that more important than the W or the L is that the players and team put forth their best effort. This is the same philosophy that TO had so I think I'm in good company. I will never give up on them but I do get temporarily pissy when it is obvious they could play a much better and complete game.
