  1. "It's a major blow for the Miami offense. The Hurricanes, who are coming off a 6-7 season, lost the school's all-time leading rusher, Duke Johnson, to the NFL draft after last season and saw standouts in left tackle Ereck Flowers and wide receiver Phillip Dorsett -- both first-round draft picks this year -- and tight end Clive Walford exhaust their eligibility."

"His absence means a larger workload will be placed on sophomore Joe Yearby (509 yards, 1 TD last year) and true freshman Mark Walton. The depth chart did not say if either has won the starting job. Trayone Gray, a sophomore who saw limited action last year, will back up Yearby and Walton."

  2.

WELL, JUST FOUND OUT MY SISTER IN LAW TO BE WANTS TO SCHEDULE HER f'ing WEDDING FOR SEPTEMBER 5TH! WE ALL THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE IN 2016 BUT NOOOOOOOO! VENUE APPARENTLY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WHEN SCHEDULING A WEDDING! SO NOW I WILL LIKELY BE MISSING THE FIRST GAME OF MIKE RILEYS TENURE BECAUSE WHY NOT! IF THERE IS A JUST GOD HE WILL MAKE THIS A NIGHT GAME SO I CAN AT LEAST CATCH SOME OF IT AT THE RECEPTION!

Had to vent, now I think I will go cry.

I missed my brothers wedding because he scheduled it in November on a Colorado game day.

His wife was pissed. I didn't care. That game has been scheduled far enough in advance that you shouldn't have to make a choice. Tell your brother you'll make it to his next one.

How selfish of those people who think they can schedule a wedding on game day!! That drives me nuts!! I've already told my family and friends that if they have a wedding on game day, don't bother sending me an invitation. You have all spring and summer to have a wedding! Gosh, have some common decency people! I feel for you 1995 Redux, and you made the right decision Tomhusker64.

  3. Winning and a lot of it.

First off...Riley is not taking over some downtrodden team with zero experience coming back.

He is not facing some daunting schedule, there is a chance they only face 2 ranked teams

He has a QB with 20 starts

Riley is a seasoned vetern with a super experienced staff

This is not a rebuild. Riley was hired, not to rebuild and not to maintain. He was hired so that a 9 win season starts to look like the floor and not the ceiling.

    +1

  4. Saw some questions on uber and lyft, it is not available in Broward County. So if you are staying in ft Lauderdale, you are SOL. And if you look at the uber app, you can literally see the drivers on the county line.

I am staying at the Diplomat, which is a quarter mile from the line. So I'm going to walk to the line and then request uber.

Dang! I'm staying in Hallandale beach just North of the county line. I guess we will be walking also. It's odd that Lyft and uber gave me ride quotes on their website to pickup/drop off from my hotel... Thanks for the info!

  5. Sorry, I don't mean to take this discussion off topic and was thinking about starting a new discussion under the recruit tap so feel free to let me know if I should.

I was wondering if any one is planning on going to any of our recruits' high school football games?

Dicaprio Bootle (CB) is our only commit playing in the Miami area.

His team has a home game at Killian High School in Miami on 9/18.

Dredrick Snelson (WR) ranked 83 overall in ESPN, C.J. Riley (WR) both class of 2016 and Billy Gibson (S) class of 2017, all have the huskers on their list of schools and will be playing in the Miami area on the 18th also.

Our group is thinking about checking out a future husker and it would be cool to meet fellow husker fans there also.

If you are going to one of these games please let me know which one. Thanks!

  6. I said goodbye to cable years ago...I wonder how it is that I rarely miss a sports event that I want to watch...

I have not had cable for about 4 years now. I also rarely miss any live sports or TV shows that are currently airing. Most of my friends don't have cable either. We all mostly watch stuff for free online or pay for the apps like NBA TV, Netflix etc. I would pay for things like ESPN, NFL, or BTN apps that provide live streaming if I could pay on a monthly basis and can cancel after football season.

  7. 12. Mike Riley, Nebraska

Riley is no stranger to coaching on the professional level. He had a disastrous stint running the San Diego Chargers but won two Grey Cups while in charge of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. His pro-style system would translate seamlessly to the NFL and his nice-guy persona could serve as a nice foil to some of the more hardline personalities in the pro game.

I am happy to see our coach on the list.

I plan on going to the Miami game with a few friends. Im glad this topic got started because I could use some advice. Like a decent hotel, tailgating, how to go about getting tickets, additional recommendations... Any advice will be helpful. Thanks!

Depends how much you want to spend. Hotels in Miami aren't cheap. If I were you. reserve yours now

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about staying in the ft Lauderdale/Hollywood area which I would think would be a little cheaper. I’d rather spend my money on a great game day and Miami experience than on a nice hotel. Do you agree that hotels should be better priced outside of Miami? I am most concerned about the tickets. I want to sit as close to the field as possible without having my view obstructed from anything behind the sidelines. Do you have any recommendations?

  10. Coach Riley wants to hire a Walk-on Coordinator. I personally think this is great.

I think the key points this person should have would be:

    1) Must have roots in Nebraska.

This person needs to know what it’s like to grow up with the dream of playing in Memorial stadium.

    2) Must have recruiting experience.

Has to be able to convince the kids to give up a scholarship offer from other schools and walk on in Lincoln.

    3) Must already have a good relationship with the Nebraska high school coaches (especially in Omaha and Lincoln).

If the coaches are on board they can help convince the kids that Nebraska is the best place to be.

I think we can lock down this state and make it hard for any outside schools to recruit here.

What do you think about the key points?

Ultimately I want to know who you think Coach Riley should look at.

--- Sorry if there is already a discussion on this topic. I searched for it and could not find one.
