  1. I'm thinking Nebraska and here is why. BYU suspensions, talent gap and home field advantage. I think their #1 RB will be out as well with injury. I also have issue with the fact that BYU is a mid major program, and they stunk it up last year with five losses to other mid-major schools, while only beating three P5 schools. To get out of mid major status, they need to join a conference. Play 9 P5 schools plus an additional one or two in the non-con. Even an independent schedule like that will get BYU out of "mid major" classification. "I'm thinking Nebraska and here is why. BYU suspensions, talent gap and home field advantage. All the WR on the roster are good players, and our 2nd string QB is a potential All American in a couple of years. When you say talent gap it sounds like you think BYU is a Sunbelt team with a couple nice players. Even an independent schedule like that will get BYU out of "mid major" classification. Haha. "Let them eat cake." The Pac X won't let BYU in because they don't want a Mormon school in the conference. It's referred to as "cultural differences". BYU's geography and refusal to play Sunday games are probably deal breakers for the Big 12. BYU would love to join a P5 conference. BYU is playing the best games they can get right now. They can't just make a few calls and fill the whole schedule with H:H's with anyone they want all season long. The schedule shows the challenges BYU faces, getting late season games, and getting home games. They are playing the best schedule they can find and still get 6 home games. Away games in 2015: Nebraska, UCLA, Michigan, Missouri ("Neutral"), San Jose State, and Utah State. Home games in 2015: Boise State, Connecticut, East Carolina, Cincinnati, Wagner (part of the deal to play Missouri), and Fresno. The program has been down for a few years, but still wins plenty of games in down years. I think you would have a hard time saying BYU's facilities and on the field performance are not at least on par with a middle of the pack P5 school.
  2. Sorry Decked. I meant the Ivory Torpedo person. It's a troll.
  3. Yes, yes, absolutely. Move along, nothing to see here. Oh, please, please, please focus the game plan on stopping the run. That would make me very happy. That's an awful lot of chatter for a team that lost to Nevada, Utah State, and UCF. This is AggyAndee or one of his friends. Yes, yes, absolutely. Move along, nothing to see here. Oh, please, please, please focus the game plan on stopping the run. That would make me very happy. That's an awful lot of chatter for a team that lost to Nevada, Utah State, and UCF. In BYU's defense, they did lose their star QB in the Utah State game... That being said, that doesnt answer the question on why they gave up scores of: 42,55(twice), 35 and 31.... Defense seems pretty weak. The defense was HORRIBLE last year. They stopped the run well, but every QB had a career day against them. They rarely blitzed and put no pressure on QBs. The game plan was really solid, because they matched the lack of pressure with 10 yard cushions and really soft zones that did not change very often, so everyone knew where the opening would be. It was a bend and break defensive game plan. Thankfully my kids were in bed asleep and missed my worst rants at the TV. The DC is out. I expect different looks and more blitzes this year. If they are not better, it's going to be another long year and maybe an 0-4 start to the season. If they got things turned around, then get ready for a good game on the opener.
  4. Nice! Football talk. TL;DR Hill will run the ball often, but probably have fewer designed run plays. Here are his per game stats from last year with the rush attempts in bold: (EDIT: The formatting got all messed up. His attempts per game were: 12, 24, 26, 17, and 8 to start the game he broke his leg) These kinds of plays that turn into designed run plays for Hill will be called less often this year. I still think they will call a few to make teams prepare for them. The read option would get called very frequently last year and when teams crashed the DE in, Hill ran the ball way too many times per game: And the downside of the designed run play, with a QB trying to break tackles is injuries. I don't remember anyone other than Tommie Frazier staying healthy and taking a beating like that. I would not be surprised if he still ran a few designed run plays, and scrambled enough to get 10+ rushes in a game, but hopefully nothing close to 20. I expect to see more slides and running out of bounds at the end of runs. Hill scrambles out of pass plays frequently. I think that is harder to defend than the designed run plays, so I still think his rushing will be a big part of the BYU offense. I'd love to see a beginners guide to the current Nebraska offense, especially what people expect it to be with Riley if someone has a link. I was not able to find anything with a couple Google searches.
  5. Well.... Andee, the University of Utah fan trolling USU and BYU fans, you win. You have ruined the off season fun of looking at opponents boards. You derailed the conversation completely...again. I think you are just copying posts from last years posts on our opponents boards here now. The news that you ruined something fun probably makes you feel great. Like you have done something good. Too bad. I have really been looking forward to this game and visiting here should have been fun. Good luck to the Huskers. It's an interesting game to start the season. I am hoping for a good game without any injuries. I am getting more pessimistic about BYU's chances as the game gets closer, but there is always hope going into a new season! Riley seems like a class act. I am hoping he has a tough 1st game, but has a great and successful career in Lincoln.
  6. Are you implying the whole country isn't looking forward to USU v BYU's annual thriller???? I've got it circled on my calendar through 2020. USU against BYU is a great and intense game and rivalry. The game is scheduled as the last game of the year now in November in college football rivalry week because its become such a big in-state rivalry between the 2 teams. I said before that BYU fans are terrified of losing to USU 2 times in a row and then dropping to 3-3 in the last 6 games. The game they want to win the most this year is the rivalry game against the Aggies. Guess what, the game is in Logan this year so with the USU student section there and loud USU will have the big edge and should win the game. It will change the whole world of recruiting in Utah if USU can win two big games in a row against BYU. People in local sports radio are already predicting USU to win. You won't be disappointed if you tune in and its already scheduled to be televised on national TV on CBS during rivalry week. How far apart are the two schools? Is it really a big deal when they play? USU is the kind of game where after a loss to USU a BYU coordinator got fired right after the game in the middle of the season. They are a good basketball program and I look forward to that, but they are a measuring stick in football. If the game looks close I get upset at the state of our football program. I actually forgot USU was on the schedule this year because I don't think about them.. AggyAndee is actually a Utah fan IIRC. He just pretends to be a USU fan. We have guys like this on every internet forum. It get's old. I think the religious tie to BYU brings a weird attraction to some mentally ill people. AggieAndee seems to think he is giving helpful tips to beat BYU on internet forums and defeating evil. It's just weird. I spend too much time follwing BYU and this guy has me beat by a mile. The reason the guy makes me mad is I am really looking foward to the opener and the guy takes the focus away from the game. I just want to lurk and learn about some teams before we play them. Since I'm posing on your board any way, I'll give you my take. I am concerned about our chances. Our D was a dumpster fire last year and once people figured out the game plan last year, receivers were catching balls in the same seams all day against us. The coordinator from last year should have never been hired and he still hasn't been fired yet. Our head coach, Bronco, supposedly took back over, but I'm not sure coaching is fixed on defense. I'll just give us a punchers chance to win. Our guys will be physical. Expect this to be one of the hardest hitting teams you see all year. That normally surprises people, but our guys won't be scared, and they are not pushed around like the smaller schools kids you might be expecting. I just don't think there is enough of a pass rush or skill in the secondary this year. On offense, Hill makes some amazing, great throws. Too many for it to be chance. But there are lots of bad passes too that can kill drives. I think he will be looking to throw more this year. The offense goes into this year with a chance of being really good and being able to light up score boards. I don't think we have depth at center or RB, but otherwise the cupboard seems full-- including at QB. So we really need to hope our center and remaining RBs stay healthy. If there are more than a couple suspensions, I'll be surprised and mad. BYU is so hard on guys for off the field stuff, I think they are given more leeway for on the field issues, like the fight. I bet Bronco made most of the players involved do tons of community service and most will play. I'm kind of expecting 38-27 Nebraska, but I'm hoping I'm wrong about the defense and the offense is as good as it can be.
