    Our offense by SP+ rating:

    2017: 85

    2018: 42

    2019: 41

    2020: ... 36

It has not been nearly good enough for the way Frost wants to play or what we expected. It is also not on a "definite downward trend."

I'm surprised it's that high. Never would have guessed.

I also never would have guessed that our second half scoring offense is 126 out of 127 over UMass.  Guess we haven't gone all of the way down.

  2. I think the despair in reasonable. This has been the worst stretch of play since the 50s. I assume the majority of posters don't remember the Bill Jennings days.

I question if this has been the worst season since then. At least Callahan's and Riley's last seasons you could say the team gave up because the writing was on the wall. Can't say that this time around.

I'm not totally sure if I think it is or not, but it's depressing that I'm even considering it.

Teams that are on the verge of turning the corner turn those close losses into close wins.

Problem is, that stat just continues to grow, three years in. ALLEGEDLY it should mean that we're getting close. But as we can see, we're no closer to turning this around than we were the day after we fired Riley.

Certainly not disagreeing. This stat gave me hope that first year. Just venting frustration...

This will go down as yet another one-score loss for Frost, but it shouldn't. I know their RB wanted to burn clock so he took the slide, but he should have just ran it in and kicked the ball back to us.

Bleh. I hate this stat. Who cares how many close losses you have. Besides... How many of those did it actually feel like we had a legitimate shot at winning?

    You were saying?

I'm not saying he's great, but the defense has certainly done much better than the offense. Let's not pretend the crappy offense helped out much giving Minny another short field. If the offense was even slightly mediocre, we wouldn't see the score we do now

Although I agree the Big Ten is a different beast then the PAC-12 and obviously the AAC and you need your team DNA to be more toward the Big Ten type, but while Frost was at Oregon, those Oregon teams beat Michigan State and came within a score of beating MSU at MSU during Michigan State's heyday and at the time truly a prototype of Big Ten built DNA. They also played Ohio State tough in the 2009 Rose Bowl and really the only game Oregon's team got overmatched was the National title game vs Ohio State. They also beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl and again, Wisconsin was a typical Big Ten built team at the time.

Simply put, whatever direction Frost is going, he just doesn't have the players for it yet.

How long until we have the players to beat Purdue and Indiana?
