Some have blind faith in Frost and are unable to objectively evaluate data. That is really a recipe for disaster as we have seen these past 4 years. We just have to hope that Trev and boosters are willing to be objective.
Yup, I’ve got family members who can’t see it. Some want everyone fired but Frost. Lol. Rose colored glasses can truly blind a person. -

What else is he going to do? I think he'll get a look in the NFL, but he'd get a longer and better paying look if he comes back and puts together another good year. He's only 21, this isn't like he's running out of time. Wouldn't shock me if he moves on but I expect him to come back.

I made up my mind in week zero. I don’t know why it’s taken the rest of this state to figure it out. Frost and his assistants are not power 5 level and it has shown for 4 years straight. You see what you get. We overpaid for an inexperienced staff.

We have turned the corner. In the wrong direction.
You didn’t get the memo? That started in week zero.- 1

It’s simple. Another losing season, he is canned. No ifs ands or buts. We can deal with a losing season once in a blue moon but not 4 consecutive. That destroys recruiting. Our 2022 class is already feeling the affect of what losing does. Trev will save everyone from wasting their time and energy on another year for Frost. The only way he saves face is by going 3-1 or win out which is easier said than done. A losing season is a losing season, period.
He’s proven to be an awful coach and his record speaks for itself. We cannot continue on like this. Everyone has to be aware of that by now.

That's a stupid comment.
That may be true however it does not make him wrong. We have been a lackluster program under Frost.- 1

I'll be optimistic. Winning 3 is not out of possibilities. Frost has just gotta figure a way to incorporate AM rolling out and away from pressure. If the OL can't give him time, manufacture time.....Misdirection in the running game. It is obvious our OL is having a hard time.... Get the D moving one way and go across/opposite that. Make the D pay for the "ears pinned back pursuit". Forget about being fair and giving playing time to guys who practice hard. Give it to the guys that ball out. Coach now, culture later. Surprise everyone including your team and fans by using the twin towers in the red zone... Run the triple option with a RB and not a WR.....Use the I-formation. PA your a$$ off. Forget the +yardage plays. OL won't give the time. Short, quick vertical hitters.....NO ONE wants you to fail......
Even winning the rest of our games is a possibility until those dates arrive. Frost blew through all stop signs to make changes to his staff and/scheme. What you see is what you get. My optimistic outlook is we beat Purdue and maybe Wisconsin or Iowa however reality is setting in and I just don’t see enough energy from our team to rally. I hope I’m wrong.- 1

The last thing we need to do is hire a new coach and temper our expectations.

Agreed, and more. He got married, had two kids, his father passed away...
He had none of those distractions at UCF. That all takes a toll on a guy.
You can say the same about Pelini, Riley, Callahan. They all went through tough stuff. The difference is they all had better overall winning percentages than Frost. Feel sorry all you want and make all the excuses you want. It doesn’t change his results.- 3

He is actually already the worst coach since Bill Jennings. He is more or less one of the coaches that we had between Bible and Devaney. Hopefully he is the Jennings one and our next rights the ship and not the 4th or 5th one and we still have a couple firings to go.
We are already an afterthought nationally. No where to go but up. I just don’t think Frost is the guy to do it based on results so far. Have to use the current data and trending. He continues to trend downward after each game. If we come out flat and lose to Purdue that will be the tipping point for Trev.- 1

the thought of it doesnt suck if the new coach actually rebuilds though.
Oh Frost is definitely building something. He’s on his way to becoming the worst coach since Bill Jennings. Let that sink in for a moment.- 1

Let me ask this, if the Huskers had completed their original, regular season last year, went 8-4 and went bowling and this season was going the same. Would we be having this same conversation?

St. No fall season Illinois Illinois 11/27 Minnesota @Iowa @Iowa 12/05 @Purdue @Purdue 12/12 Minnesota Minnesota 12/19 TBD TBD BOWL TBD We beat Penn St., Purdue, and Rutgers.
Would have beat S. Dakota State, and Central Michigan. Easy to see at least one more win on that schedule.
The “what if” game hasn’t gotten anyone that far in life so it’s pointless to make it an argument. Are we not a results driven program? Frost’s record speaks for itself.- 2

It's not just because he is a part of our history. It is mostly because of how low the other 2 left the program combined with 18 months of pandemic which has rattled the entire college football worlds combined with the actual difficulty that is the Big10 combined with a meat grinder of a 2021 schedule. There are a lot of moving parts here, and I think the risk of letting a coach building a good thing go too soon far outweighs the risk of letting him prove he is no good in 2022 and cutting bait at that point.
We are running out of excuses to keep Scott Frost, to tell you the truth.- 4

Based on what you’ve heard? Or just a guess? IIRC, back in 2017, you seemed to know Moos was targeting Frost before most of us did. Your sources are better than mine.
Yes to the first question. As for 2017, Frost was contacted shortly after Riley was let go. There was mutual interest then not known publicly. He was the hire that made the most sense (at the time) but as most people know, these things don’t always work out.
With our recent memory as a fan base, we can’t compare Frost to anyone else but Riley and Callahan. If we don’t go to a bowl, the outcome doesn’t change for SF just because he’s part of our history. And if he has success elsewhere, more power to him. It’s unfortunate it hasn’t worked out at NU.

I didn't say one way or the other. But, some people in this thread don't think we can go out and get one of the hot coaches.
My comment is saying, if we can't go get a hot coach, what are we changing for? Are people saying we should make a change even though we are going to go get a coach that is unproven and isn't a splash hire?
I think they can get a splash hire those who say or feel otherwise are just defeatists that have zero faith in the athletic department to make a solid hire, IMO. They’re the type of fans who have no hope. They don’t see the many positives this program offers and can sell to a coach under serious consideration.- 2

Then we shouldn't make a change. I guess we are as good as we are going to get....that is....if you are also of the opinion that Frost can't improve.
You keep downplaying it like you expect Frost to be retained, haha. Unless we win 3 out of 4, he’s no Bill Jennings. He won’t be brought back for another year. Many fans have a defeatist attitude now that the prodigal son didn’t work out — so the sky has fallen (to them.) I’m an optimistic, I think whoever NU goes after they will be a tremendous upgrade over SF. -

Honest question here: How does his style of play translate to Big 10 football? Remember we have had 2 coaches now who had a hard time adapting to Big 10 football -
First Bo had to revamp his D and I don't think he ever got it right & his Offense was always a work in progress. Now Frost is having fits making consistent headway. What are the characteristics of a Campell team that will give us a competitive edge in the Big 10? I'm not against Campbell, he just beat my second favorite team - 8th ranked OSU Cowboys(my anti sooner team). He's done very well in bringing a lower tier Big 12 team to respectability. Can we assume that having NU resources will get him over the top? The assumption was that those same resources would turn Mike Riley from a .500 coach into a .750 coach. We don't want to make the same assumption.
Some more honest questions:
Is he a great recruiter, a great evaluator of talent (can he get good recruits but more importantly recruits that fit his style of play)?
Is he a great developer of talent?
does he make good in game adjustments?
What is experience level of his assistants? If he comes, he'll probably bring some with him.
Don’t have the answers to all your questions. I believe he is a really good recruiter. His RB is probably going to get drafted in the 1st round. He’s a fiery young type of coach who seems to get ISU to play hard. FWIW, USC has Campbell on their shortlist right now. -

That's what happens when you fall forward
That’s almost a 21 foot fall. How far do you want the guy to fall down? I mean, realistically speaking… 50 feet? -
We either find a veteran coach who’s been fired or an up and comer. No way we get anyone besides that. I think if you read the tea leaves, NU tried to get the ISU AD (who declined of course) if he hadn’t, Matt Campbell would be our HC in 22’. Since we didn’t land the AD, my thinking is Campbell is on Trev’s shortlist right now.

Are they really that good? I haven't watched them, but can't imagine they'll be tougher than MSU on the road and we should have won that one. I guess I like our chances at home coming off the bye.
They’re ranked and only lost to ND by 14, beat Iowa of course. Suppose they’re sort of Jekyll & Hyde. After the loss to MN and coming off a BYE I would not be surprised if we come out flat and lose another “close” game -

Recruiting would go through the roof.
I agree but I think he’s quietly being prepped to take over FSU as they seem to be where we were 3 1/2 years ago. Right now from the looks of it he’s enjoying his time at Jackson State but it won’t be long before a much better deal opens up for him. -

They had one bad game and that cancels him out? He runs the perfect offense for Nebraska. Truth be told, if we played App. State at their place we'd likely lose, too.
Then you hire the App State coach! -
Who would’ve thought it would be this hard to find another Joe Ganz… I’d take a pass first QB with mobility over a scrambler any day. That’s been our Achilles heel since 08’ stop offering schollies to QBs that aren’t getting P5 offers at QB or injury prone players and we’ll be better off. AM and injuries in HS — should’ve been a major red flag for SF but, I digress.

Post game press conference quotes.
”We’re a good team, not a great team talent wise.”
”A team shouldn’t need me to motivate them all the time, that’s my job. That’s what I do. But a great team doesn’t need a coach to motivate them all the time.”
There is your answer ladies and gentlemen!
Obviously this is the culture Frost built from the beginning between his staff, his players, and anyone associated with the program. The no fear of failure approach has worked. We failed.
The only man left to save this program is Trev Alberts. I feel he will do what is necessary for this fan base that is arguably one of the greatest fan bases in all of sports.
