god would you stop. He's retiring at the end of the year.Perlman needs to go ASAP. NU has had way too many bad coaches in a row.

but Lewis is still terrible too.The run it up Reeve's butt play needs scrapped. The interior Oline is putrid. For the love of God run to the edge. Play into the strength of your skillset

I was tearing my hair out with some of the decisions Tommy made and Tommy is not a good qb, there's no denying that. Let's not forget, though how wretched the o-line looked and wr's that kept dropping the easy ones. We just have a terrible offense overall, not just Tommy.Tommie Armstrong is not a winning QB. He is too inconsistent. He missed several wide open receivers today. He was also late on the throw for the attempted two point conversion. Nebraska will continue to be a program of the past with him at QB.

Nobody is getting fired this year. We don't even know how this year is going to end. Threads like this are becoming redundant and annoying. Go troll somewhere else.

dear old Nebraska u. As in the school song wheit says "there is no place like nebraaaskaaa. DEAR OLD NEBRASKA U."
What the frig is "DoNU"? You're the only one I've seen using this acronym for NU.
One of the things I read about the process that ended with NU's AAU membership being terminated was that Perlman was allowed to make a statement but wasn't called into the meeting until they were ready to hear his statement, and then he presumably had to leave while the vote took place. I may be remembering this particular process incorrectly but I am 100% sure there was some sort of process that Perlman had to follow.
I know Perlman snubbed the whole meeting (and its attendees) where the vote took place. Not cool when Harvey only needed two votes to prevent it. But you obviously knew this already and are dismissing it for some reason. Care to explain why?You obviously font understand why we lost it.
And if the AAU counted agricultural research dollars this would never have been an issue. Also, if NU had been allowed to count research dollars spent at UNO this wouldn't have been an issue. This issue was largely out of Perlman's hands because of the AAU's rules and how they count research dollars.
I believe UNO is counted. It's UNMC that isn't counted, IIRC, as it was separated from the NU system for other reasons that perpetuate its existence.
In short, DoNU got screwed by the AAU not counting Ag Research money...which is quite a myopic move, considering how Ag Research is going to become increasingly vital in the next decade or so.

nope, that was against southern missHomecoming this week right?

I think the refs wanted to go home just as badly as everyone else.nicely done video!
Question on Kalu's pick-six: Didn't we commit an obvious block-in-the-back on his run?

do you think the fan base should try to wear black this week? I know the student section probably will but I know in the past when we tried to wear black, most of the rest of the stadium couldn't get themselves to wear anything other than red (not that i have a problem with preserving the sea of red). Are we wearing the ALTS this week as well?
Yep

the fact that this coaching staff actually made an adjustment instead of sticking with what they were doing while claiming that the players just needed to "execute" really is progressRemembering those discussions about different overages:
Banker acknowledged to reporters that the Huskers didnt consistently cover Minnesotas tight ends and wideouts, especially on corner routes. Nebraska had switched coverages to address the problem.
We got in a different coverage, took it away and thats where the two picks came from, Banker said.
So we run a different coverage scheme and get two quick INTs, one returned for a TD. Hmmmmmmmm..................
It only took 3 1/2 quarters to make an adjustment..... #progress

no wonder their defense has been playing like they're on blue crystal meth these last couple of weeks.Mike Hankwitz - Defensive Coordinator

you do realize dpe was staring straight into the sun, right. The ball landed 4 yards behind him and ironically, onto his shadow (if your shadow is behind you that implies the suns in front of you). When dpe returned a punt the other way (not staring into the sun) he returned it for 40+ yards.
We let two punts roll a long ways yesterday, and we fumbled one the prior game. One punt we didn't catch was downed at the one yard line against Minny. Not executing the fundamentals is killing this team. We need DPE with that fearless, I can catch everything and take it to the house, attitude he had last year
What?!Punt return game worse than ever.

kalu messed up. No push off makes you THAT wide oped
That was what I was thinking. It was very obvious one at that too. BIG refs are incompetent on good days and then there is crap like this. Now I am waiting for us to get called for an offensive PI..smh.Where's the offensive PI for the pushoff?
-
can you expand on that a little bit?I've heard rumblings that a Nike deal is in place under the table

notice the fact that it's shiny black and not matte black. Also black face mask and not red chrome.Appears Rusillo and Kanell may be fans of the alt unis...helmet is on the show right now. (Edit: I'm sure they aren't really fans...) image.jpeg

the proper equipment penalty was when we had two #55's in on for an extra point
I am not saying they didn't happen I am just wondering when we roughed the kicker, didn't have proper equipment, had offensive pass interference or had 12 men on the field. I just don't remember those being called.I would group them like this. Had to guess on a couple of them.
Defense (14):
Holding - 1
Pass Interference - 9
Illegal Helmet Contact - 1
Offside - 3
Offense - Procedure (19):
12 men on the field - 2
Delay of game - 1
False Start - 9
Illegal Formation - 3
Illegal Procedure - 2
Illegal Shift - 1
Substitution Infraction - 1
Offense - In Play (13):
Illegal Block - 2
Ineligible man downfield - 1
Intentional Grounding - 2
Holding - 7
Pass Interference - 1
Special Teams (2):
Illegal Formation - 1
Roughing the Kicker - 1
Misc (13):
Personal Foul - 6
Unsportsmanlike Conduct - 6
Proper Equipment - 1

he also fired Stewart which is why he's coaching our db's in the first place
Also has a connection with Stewart. Stewart was his DC from 2012-2014.Randy Edsall for DC would be very wise and realistic hire, IMO, and we potentially fire Banker tomorrow and pick Edsall up. We'd only have Edsal for a few seasons (unless we pay close to 1m/yr for him, I'd wager) and he's made some excellent defenses out of nothing more than chewing gum, hockey tickets, toothpicks, and 2* recruits that even MacGyver would be jealous of.
Has a connection with Hank Hughes. And although Edsall didn't work out at Maryland, the guy can recruit very well. If only Riley wasn't married to Banker
-
6 personal fouls and 6 unsportsmanlike conducts. No matter how you assess, that's unacceptable on the players and coaches behalf. Yes a couple were a little contraversial (Mike Riley on the sideline) but every penalty like that is avoidable and shouldn't happen.

exactly. Against Miami a couple of times I thought the UM DE was over the line a couple times but they never threw the flag for it.I remember Collins getting called for offsides with his helmet over the ball a couple times this year, and I see this all the time and it hardly ever gets called.

obviously each game had different situations and variables that led to the result, but that is an interesting Stat to say the least.Just a look at the opponents we played both years so far.
Last year, Nebraska's secondary gave up 359 yards passing to Miami. The defense gave up 31 points
This year nebraska's secondary gave up 379 yards passing to Miami. The defense gave up 33 points. OT FG not included.
Last year Nebraska's secondary gave up 261 yards passing to Illinois. The defense gave up 14 points.
This year Nebraska's secondary gave up 251 yards passing to Illinois. The defense gave up 14 points
Last year Nebraska's secondary "gave up" 46 yards passing to Wisconsin. The defense gave up 59 points.
This year Nebraska's secondary gave up 322 yards passing to Wisconsin. The defense gave up 23 points.

we were supposed to kill wisky in the B1G championship too. How'd that one work out?
Didn't Wisky also have several starters out?Well you cant doubt we looked much better against Wisky this year than under Bo. This transition is gonna take time. It is what it is. I think it will turn out ok.

no need to be so arrogant. The guy I replied to was being super optimistic and I was explaining why I didn't think we would be as successful as he projected. At the same time he said that this is still college football and crazy things can happen, which I agree with. I personally think we CAN beat Rutgers, we just have to wait and see if we will.
Are. You. Serious. Minnesota and Purdue are the only 2 games I can see us winning but in a toss up. No way we go into Rutgers and beat them in that environment. Get ready for 3-9 or 4-8.
I think that the future is bright, but this just isn't the year. Doesn't seem to be enough depth yet and while there was definite improvement all around, the players are still learning the system. I don't think we should completely count out a bowl game this year, it just doesn't seem likely from what we've seen at this point through 6 games. We really could find something in the next week and rattle off 7 straight to end the year. Seriously. I know the mood a lot of us are in right now, you say no way in hell. But step back and think. Would that really surprise you? Knowing what we know about the craziness of college football these days. What would "shock" you at this point? Winning 7 in row wouldnt. And niether would losing the next 6.

Tommy made some pretty poor throws without anyone's help, but I think a couple of the swing passes he had that were way off were actually a result of the high snap throwing off his rhythm for the play
It's these kinds of details that are hurting us. (I'm also amazed at the consistently poor snaps)still cant snap the ball decent

I think this makes it so there are already 7 coaching vacancies in fbs. A lot of the open jobs are considered more favorable than coaching at Nebraska, so we need to let the whole "fire Mike Riley now after one year" fade away. it would be unwise due to the fact any coach would be wary to come to a school that fired their coach after 1 year after firing a coach that never won less than 9 games and then you have places like south carolina, Miami, USC, and Maryland open that some people find more appealing anyways (maybe not Maryland but that's left up to individual opinion)
