  1. HI update on Colter's visit with Watson today.

Watson told him that they're looking at 3 different QB's and will only offer 1 scholly.

It'll be between Carnes, Colter and another QB, but they didn't say who.

Colter has offers from Northwestern and Arizona St. He's also fielding interest from TCU but no offer from them yet. He said if he had to pick a school today, it'd be Northwestern.

If Nebraska and TCU come through with offers, he'll visit each campus at the end of January. He said he's "highly interested" in Nebraska.

I say the pecking order at QB is:

    Carnes

    Colter

    Fajardo

Will probably take a week or two to play out. If Carnes commits on his visit or decommits and recommits I think the scolly is his, if Colter was number one then they would've offered tonight.

    Just a guess.

I think Darian Godfrey is probably number three on that list. This guy has flown under the radar all year and has torched his competition. Don't be fooled by the lack of stars, he is a player.

We are probably holding a scholly for Carnes and hope to land Colter if Carnes falls through. I personally think Colter has a better chance of being a husker than Carnes....location and weather......hope we dont blow this one hoping for Carnes.

    * I know Bo doesnt want a qb just to take one, but this kid is an athlete and could move around a bit.

While this is a legitimate concern (that I share), I have started to think it's not THAT big of deal if we do strike out on all three guys. From the sounds of things, we have been courting Carnes for awhile now and want to give him the first opportunity to commit, if he doesn't we will move on to Colter if he is still available. If he isn't, we will accept the fact that we didn't get a QB for the class and plan on a couple for 2011.

  2. I think Crick should stay another 2 years.

I think he should stay another 12

And Suh should stay another 10

But to answer the question, I think he would be a late round pick... We will see what he is really made of next year when he has to pull a lot more weight. I think he needs to put on a little more weight, work on his hands some more, and increase strength. All things that can be done with another year at Neb.

  3. I know it's hard to do as a Nebraska fan, but be logical....

The watsfense is complex, requires a lot of reads from the QB position, and the level of competition is nothing close to what cody has seen.

the odds that anyone comes into that type of situation and even appears serviceable are not very good.

I know it's not necessarily relevant, but do you think Ganz would have come into that situation as a TRfr and been the sauce? I doubt it... and he turned out to be a hell of a QB.

a RS would have been great (freaking Spano injury killed that chance), but it didn't happen. Latravis was a LB before this year.... so it's not like he had a big jump on Cody at the position.

  4. I read something this year that if Helu has a great game in SD, he could declare and go late first or early second round. Very much like Brandon Jackson. Pro scouts were high on his performance against VAT early in the season. Almost 200 yards and the line was a dominating one this year.

Did you read that on bleacherreport or something????

Mid to late round pick at best.

Lacks the final gear to be a gamebreaking RB, and lacks the Durability to be and all around contributor.

I expect him to have a good game in SD, but WHEN he comes back next year he needs to prove he can tote the ball 15 times a game all season without getting injured by conference play. IF he does that, he will be drafted. There is no question he is a natural ball carrier and has excellent vision, but if he can't make it through a season in the NCAA what makes scouts think he would make it through a longer, more physical season in the NFL?

As far as Braylon Heard is concerned? He has a lot to prove before we can make these comments...

But what you are saying is IF he is a total stud, the type of guy that comes along once every 10 years, then he will go early? I think that could go unsaid...same goes for every 2 star that we sign as well.

But we have absolutely NO way of knowing that right now.

  5. This dude had a really good year against some pretty decent competition. We got a steal with this guy.

Last year we missed on a lot of defensive line recruits, this year it was a huge priority and I think we really nailed it. Every guy we have signed up has the potential to be a stud

  6. Go to a practice sometime. It takes you all of 5 minutes into a team-O period to see why the WR aren't getting any better. All they do is play grab-@ss. I'm not exaggerating one bit here...it is a freakin' joke.

While you were at practice watching a bunch of guys playing grab-ass did you manage to see what Gilmore was doing?

  7. I think it will be much of the same we have seen all year, with a little extra spice here and there.

Nothing too fancy, but definitely more than we have seen. The biggest difference here is going to be a well rested and somewhat healed Offense. Helu should be feeling much better, our shallow line should have had a chance to heal some of their wounds.

  8. Perhaps we waited just a bit too long to offer him. Had we offered before his visits I think it would have been a done deal. But since we were slowplaying he started getting in touch with a bunch of other schools... by the time we offered other schools had their toes in the door.

This could get very interesting, as others have said.

Schools didn't start calling mostly until after NU offered, this one will be interesting.

That may be the case, but if you think for a second those schools are calling BECAUSE Nebraska offered, you are crazy. He started sending out film to more places and they started contacting him.

I still think had we been courting this guy and offered him awhile back it would have been a done deal. Those other schools wouldn't have offered him, and this would be a closed book... except for the poeple that would complain that we settled on a second tier guy that nobody else wanted.

  9. Was checking on ESPN, and I saw that he was 4 stars and he is in the top 20 receivers. Why aren't people going after him harder?

Perhaps the coaches are and we just don't know about it. or maybe Wright told them he doesn't want to come here?

Who knows. I have heard his grades are suspect as well.

I would like 1 more WR in this class, but I would be surprised if this guy is it.

  10. I don't know where or if CC will fit into an offense. He is not yet a WR and is an " athlete". And I think a lot depends on how quickly and how well he developes wide reciever skill in running routes and catching the ball. I think we have the better reciever though most of you wanted CC more.

It was telling that Missouri could have had CC rather than Sasser and a couple of D backs, but chose to take Sasser and the d backs over CC. Lucas was a no brainer but the other 3 make me think that we didn't miss too much by CC leaving. Although I hate Misery with a passion, Pickles knows how to recruit QBs and recievers much better in this decade than we do. The fact that he passed on CC tells me that his leaving the Huskers is not too big a deal. I am less convinced about little Gabbert not being a talent at QB but that's another issue that will be worked out over time. The fact hat Misery chose others over CC and LSU was not interested after losing their top WR to Texas tells me that he is a project that may or may not pan out. My guess is that CC is not a top D1 WR. I think we got a better prospect, though we need more and a QB.

I agree with much of this. CC is a project... But one with pretty great potential if it comes together correctly.

CC may eventually play a role like Kerley did this year, but not immediately. He has a lot of potential to be a weapon all over the field for them, but I doubt he fits as a RB and he hasn't spent much time as a WR, so he will need to work on that part of his game.

QE is pretty raw in the sense that I think he has a ton of potential yet to be tapped, and thats saying something considering his performance this year. I am really happy we have him on board, and I know I mentioned it before, but he seems like a great fit for our O.

  11. How is USC local?

Perhaps he has an offer to the University of Liverpool... Then I would say it's all relative.

I'm guessing he didn't mean Local, as much as he meant "usual"?

I still say this is an uphill battle. Perhaps if Turner commits, he can start establishing a relationship with Aaron. But we have seen how that situation works out. It is imperative that we lock in a big time offensive class in the class of 2011.

  12. I know that you really have to be careful what JUCO credits will transfer from a juco to a university. But if you have a 2 year AA degree the university has to accept your credits. Whether they accept them as what they are or not is up to them, but they have to accept them as at least elective credits.

That is why coaches encourage you to get the 2 year degree.

very true. So schools will help you plan your schedule so that you can qualify and get in ASAP. But that is a careful line of class work that includes a high load of credits

Usually several summer classes and such.

It's sort of a bittersweet thing. I don't like MU, just because... they are our enemy.

But I think Mizzou is going to be a major player from here on... They may not be BCS caliber every year, but they are going to challenge for the north many years. And most likely make the random BCS bowl if things fall into place. (2011?). This is good for Everyone in the Big12, as we need to see power more evenly dispersed.

Kansas and Colorado? who knows what happens there. I think Kansas is in a better position to become a big player. Colorado is sunk right now and will be for awhile, they have lost a lot of support.

Assuming we don't lose anyone to the big 10(11,12,14,16), I think the North is in a position to make up some ground on the South.

  13. Perhaps we waited just a bit too long to offer him. Had we offered before his visits I think it would have been a done deal. But since we were slowplaying he started getting in touch with a bunch of other schools... by the time we offered other schools had their toes in the door.

This could get very interesting, as others have said.

  14. Q.E. fits the bill of what we need in a receiver. Great hands and a solid frame. If he runs his route's hard every play he will see a lot of PT in short order.

CC would have been a dynamic talent, and would have been great to have. I will keep tabs on him to see how he does in the future, I think he fits at TCU.

  15. Every player has a peak potential. Holt never did peak for whatever reason. He has size, has made some good plays for us over the years, but never quite reached that level of consistency that we all hoped he would.

Midway through his SR season and he still isn't showing up big, it's time to start getting some younger guys experience and see what they can do. Building for the future.

Kinnie is starting to show up now that he is developing a feel/knowledge for the game. I think he is going to be our go to guy for the next two years. I really wish Bell wouldn't have played early in the year, he should have received his RS, hit the weight room hard, studied the game and came out in 2010 on a mission.
